Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.837146 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Edvard Grieg, Paul Cowell. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 110 pages. Paul Cowell #2965527. Published by Paul Cowell (A0.837146). This is the 'simple' sonata by Mozart (No 16 in C) arranged as a concerto using the additional accompaniment that Grieg wrote in 1876. The piano part is just as Mozart wrote it, so is well within the ability of most competent pianists. The orchestra is small to balance with the small range and clear textures of Mozart’s sonata (single winds, two horns, trumpet, trombone, timpani, percussion and strings). The parts should be playable by advanced school and amateur orchestras; some alternatives for high string passages are given.Score and parts (including solo)Three movements: Allegro, Andante, Allegretto grazioso. Duration: around 12 min.

B-Flat Bass Clarinet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1101754 By Alison Eales and Anna le Hair. By James Marshall. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Multicultural,World. Score and part. 30 pages. James Marshall Music #705136. Published by James Marshall Music (A0.1101754). Sonata Simplice (Simple Sonata) was composed for Alison Eales and Anna le Hair and premiered in Hitchin outside London on September 3, 2022. The piece takes shape in the first movement from utilization of motifs that comprise the opening thematic material, rather than an iconic theme. Comprising three movements, the second movement references the English folksong The Fair Flower of Northumberland. Set in 6/8 meter the movement is marked: Lento e cantabile, leggiero simplice (Slow and singing, lightly simple) enhancing the overall title of the piece. The final movement is lively and dancelike with both static and changing meters. This delightful offering will add to any adult recital, and is attainable by accomplished high school students as well. It follows the English Sonatina for young clarinetists (now published by Mel Bay in Lyrical Solos from the British Isles ... featuring the English Sonatina) premiered by Alison and Anna in London January, 2019.

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549863 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Concert,Instructional,Standards,World. Score and parts. 52 pages. Jmsgu3 #3557749. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549863). Beethoven Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 arranged for string orchestra. Duration: 10:15 Score: 28 pages, 242 measures. In two movements. I arranged this for my own beginner orchestra. Easy to rehearse and perform. Very popular with the audience. Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 Arranged from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 20, this is a simple but interesting work in two movements showing the composers sense of humor. The first movement Allegro ma non troppo and the second movement Tempo di Menuetto are both in the key of G. Both Sonatas 19 and 20 (op. 49, No. 1 & 2) are named Easy Sonatas because they are technically easier than the usual Beethoven Sonatas. This makes them very popular among students and teachers alike. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna the rest of his life. In his late 20s it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies therefore belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano. www.jamesguthrie.com.

Jmsgu3 #6327363. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552333). I. Largo II. Allegro III. Affettuoso IV. VivaceGeorg Philipp Telemann's Sonatas Op. 2, also known as the Six Sonatas for two flutes (or violins), are significant for several reasons. First, they are dedicated to two young music lovers, explicitly appealing to a circle of pupils and music enthusiasts. The pieces foster the ability of musical expression and are characterized by a combination of expansive baroque thematic material and charming galant features in the slow and fast movements, respectively. Telemann was considered one of the leading German composers of his time, and his works, including the Sonatas Op. 2, reflect his significant contribution to the Baroque music era. The Methodical nature of these sonatas, as described when they were published in 1732, is also noteworthy, as they included a second, ornamented version of the simple melodies, showcasing Telemann's innovative approach to composition.Furthermore, Telemann's music, which incorporates French, Italian, and German national styles, remained highly regarded by colleagues and critics alike during his lifetime and the latter half of the 18th century. Numerous theorists and prominent composers cited his works as models, and he influenced pupils of J.S. Bach in Leipzig, such as Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. Therefore, Telemann's Sonatas Op. 2 contributed to the expansion of domestic music-making and influenced other composers and musicians of his time and beyond.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1145522 Composed by Andrew Maurer. 20th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 34 pages. Andrew Maurer #745764. Published by Andrew Maurer (A0.1145522). Compared to the Op. 1 Prelude, the Piano Sonata Op. 2 is a much different take on pianism with its virtuosic and dense textures, from the opening bars to the spectacular ending. The sonata owes its inspiration primarily to Rachmaninoff’s works, of whom it is dedicated, as well as stylistic elements of Chopin, and influence of early Prokofiev sonatas. The composition explores a unique sound world and attempts to comprise a wide gamut of human emotion through writing in idioms of romantic lyricism. The single movement work explores thematic development as its focus, and the form can be roughly divided into sections of fast-slow-fast-slow-fast-slow-fast. The opening is an inversion of the solo entrance rhythmic motif in Rachmaninoff’s First Concerto, and is built around the simple four note motif in E minor. This theme appears over pedal point with its melody eventually developing into the first lyrical theme. The inspiration for the second lyrical theme occurs prior to the development and recapitulation, which share perpetual tension between the harmonically complex theme and second lyrical theme in D major, culminating in a resolution in D major instead of the home key. Elsewhere, the hidden Dies Irae motif briefly appears. The last triumphant theme is thematically transposed from the inner voices of the second theme motif. Cello and basso continuo - easy to intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q25910 Composed by Stephen Paxton. This edition: Sheet music. Cello Library. Downloadable. Op. 3/3. Schott Music - Digital #Q25910. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q25910). Key: C major.Stephen Paxton was one of the most important English composers for the cello in the transitional period between the Baroque and Classical eras. As the cello repertoire does not feature many very early Classical works his Sonatas op. 3, written for amateur cellists and students, fill a significant gap in tuition repertoire. This three-movement Sonata op. 3/3 is very well suited to the cello and distinguished by its elegant and appealing melodies. The sonata can be played using the first four finger positions. As a cellist Paxton was very familiar with the technical capabilities of his instrument and knew how to make it sing with simple and effective figures. The first movement consists of two sections and has an expressive middle section in C minor. The slow movement uses an Irish folk song (‘Gramachree’), with two dance movements (Minuet 1 and 2) at the end. This new edition reproduces all the details of the first printed version, with just a few dynamic markings added in square brackets. The bass part has been written out in the style of an early Classical keyboard accompaniment so as to underline the galant rococo style of the piece.

Cello and basso continuo - easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6540 Composed by Giovanni Battista Cirri. This edition: Sheet music. Cello Library. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q6540. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6540). Key: C major.A large number of works by the Italian musician Giovanni Battista Cirri (1724-1808) from Forlì were printed all his life. The busy cello virtuoso naturally wrote works for 'his' instrument mainly, including concertos and sonatas, but also wrote a number of chamber music pieces for other instruments as well as occasional compositions for orchestra or for religious occasions. The present Sonata in C major is ideal for beginners lessons. It is a catchy, melodious and rewarding piece for young cellists which is fun to play (and to listen to). The accompanying bass part has deliberately been turned into a simple piano part so that it can also be played by pupils.

Flute Trio 3rd part bass flute or concert - Intermediate - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM052 Composed by Arcangelo Corelli. Arranged by Robert Rainford. Score and parts. 57 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM052. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM052). ISBN 9790708085515.Flute Trio - three flutes or two flutes and alto/bass flute. These transcriptions of Corelli's Op. 2 Trio Sonatas make great ensembles for grade 5 players. Each sonata consists of four small movements, varying in length from 8 bars to about 50 bars. Movement titles are taken from dance suites of the time, but the tempi do not necessarily reflect the titles. The top two flute parts are rhythmically independant, while the third part provides the bass line. (An alto flute part is included as an alternative to a concert flute for part 3). Key signatures are simple (C, G major and A minor), giving the players time to focus on the polyphonic lines. Flute one reaches top G very occasionally, whilst flute 2 reaches top F# once. Musically both interesting and attractive.

Sonata in a Simple Scale for Viola and Piano

Piano,Viola - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1032818 Composed by Daniell Mattern. Contemporary. Score and part. 58 pages. Daniell Mattern #5721229. Published by Daniell Mattern (A0.1032818). Sonata in a Simple Scale for Viola and PianoThe Simple Scale of the title is a series of alternating whole steps and half steps. There are three versions; any particular note will belong to two of the three. Thus, the two scales that include C go up either a whole step from C (C D Eb F F#…) or a half step (C C# D# E F#…); the third scale excludes C entirely (B C# D E F…). These scales allow for a variety of melodies, which often take on a modal character, and familiar chords, including major, minor, and diminished.Although the scale is simple, the Sonata is not for elementary players. The viola range goes to the C two octaves above middle C and there are occasional double and triple stops and stopped harmonics, and frequent meter changes. Also, the unusual scale does not fit the standard fingering patterns for either instrument. That said, the sonata is intended to be enjoyable for proficient, rather than virtuosic, players. In the introduction to the Sonata-Allegro movement, the viola explores motives and intervals, with subtle embellishment from the piano. These phrases build to a three-octave descending presentation of the simple scale; a trill then leads into the main theme. The piano sets up a jaunty accompaniment pattern, over which the viola plays the theme in measure-long segments. The second theme is a long, legato line in the viola that spans two octaves. The viola then sets up a two-measure ostinato, joined by a lumbering piano bass, before the piano treble floats on top with a melancholy closing theme. The development section plays mostly with the main theme, shifting meters as the two instruments engage in dialog. A bridging trill takes us into the recapitulation, but now the viola plays the jaunty accompaniment pattern, and the piano has the main theme. After the return of the second theme, varied in its accompaniment, the piano presents the ostinato of the closing theme, and the viola takes the melody, leading to a quiet and playful finish. In the second movement (Song), the piano begins a slow, rather dark theme, joined by the viola, and ending in a rising question that leads into the second section. Presented simply by the viola, this lilting 7/8 theme has a folk-song quality. It is repeated and embellished several times before the first theme returns, ending in a loud and angry exclamation. The Scherzo is a 6/8 whirlwind. The viola presents rapid repeated notes punctuated with three rising or falling notes; the piano enters gradually until both are giving a forceful statement. In the middle section, the viola sets up a whirling pattern with a drone, while the piano plays a dark version of the closing theme from the first movement. The first theme returns and the movement gallops to a rapid finish. The Rondo begins with an introduction that explores octaves and trills, leading into the main theme, with slightly dissonant 4/4 viola measures alternating with 7/8 answers in the piano. Bridging measures in 5/8 take us into a relaxed, waltz-like interlude of solo viola. A fast section with a touch of fugato follows, with the main theme presented in diminution by the viola at the end. This leads into a second interlude, this one exploring octaves, trills, and clusters in unmetered fragments that the instrumentalists play at their own tempos. The viola then emerges with a confident new theme, joined after a while by the piano. The main theme then returns in a rollicking 3/4 version that brings the piece to a close.
