Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.917402 Composed by Gregory Fritze. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 96 pages. Musica Nova USA #4895219. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917402). Petite Suite for Brass Quintet is a light-hearted piece for brass quintet in four movements with a duration of fourteen minutes. The four movements follow the basic Classical symphonic form - Allegro, Adagio, Scherzo (Presto) and Finale (Presto). The first movement Strombor has a fanfare at the beginning with a melodic 2nd theme in the French Horn. The second movement is based on a slow cantabile theme. The 3rd movement Attack of the Killer Bees includes a bit of theatre. Throughout the movement there is a buzzing of bees, which are killed at the end when all the players stomp on them. The 4th movement Finale has a feeling of cartoon music, ending with a big finish. Throughout the Suite each of the five instrumentalists is featured. The grade of this piece is level 5 (intermediate) for all instruments.Petite Suite for Brass Quintet was composed in 2000 on a commission by the Strombor Brass Quintet of Valencia, Spain. It was recorded by that group on Allegro Records V-3076-2002. It was also recorded by the Hoodlebug Brass Quintet on Albany Records Troy 1175. It can be heard on youtube at: http://youtu.be/RZFf3W_yZLo. Several ensembles around the world have played it, receiving over 100 performances in recent years. Petite Suite for Brass Quintet was submitted to the American Prize Composition Competition in the chamber music division in 2016. It was the highest awarded brass quintet composition that year, awarded Finalist. Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer and conductor. He recently retired from Berklee College of Music where he was Professor and Chair of Composition, serving on the faculty from 1979 to 2016. He has written over ninety compositions for orchestra, band, chamber ensembles and soloists. He has won over fifty composition awards both nationally and internationally, including First Prize in the 1st WASBE (World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles) International Composition Contest 2017, First Prize Winner of Reneé Fisher Composition Prize, First Prize Winner in Concurso Bienal de Composición de Musica para Banda, Ciudad de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain), Menzione d’Onore (highest award given) of the Mario Bernardo Angelo-Comneno International Music Competition by the Accademia Angelica Costantiniana Arti E Scienze (Italy), First Prize in 1991 TUBA International Etude Composition Competition, the IBLA Grand Prize (Italy), several awards from The American Prize, Composition Awards from Standard Awards Panel of American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers and many others. His compositions include works published by several publishers in the United States, South America and Europe and have been performed extensively throughout the world. He has been a frequent traveler to Spain since 1993 and has promoted compositions by Spanish composers around the world. He is the only composer who has been commissioned six times by Spanish bands for Certamen competitions, with each band winning first prize. He has thirty-three compositions commercially recorded on Albany Records, MSR Classics, Crystal Records, Mark Records and others. He has been a guest lecturer, conductor and performer at many colleges, universities and music festivals in the United States, Canada, Japan, South America and Europe. Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1164066 Composed by Al Stillman and Ernesto Lecuona. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Multicultural,Pop,Standards,World. Score and parts. 37 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #764401. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1164066). Ernesto Lecuona was born 1895 in Cuba.  He began piano lessons at 5 years of age and developed into a virtuoso pianist and internationally celebrated composer.  In 1928 he composed Suite AndalucÃa, a six-movement piano piece portraying the people and places of the Andalusia region of southern Spain.  Two of those pieces eventually achieved tremendous popularity as standalone songs:  #2, “Andalucia†and #6, “Malagueña.† Lecuona had composed both in ¾ time.  Salvador Tutti Camarata reframed “Andalucia†in 4/4, Al Stillman provided English lyrics and the song was given a new title, “The Breeze and I.† Jimmy Dorsey’s big band recorded it in 1940 with the vocal by Bob Eberly.  It was hugely popular, lasting nine weeks on the Billboard magazine chart and peaking at #2.  Fifteen years later, Caterina Valente recorded both “The Breeze and I†and “Malagueña†to great success.    This arrangement opens in A-flat major with Trumpets, Horn and Tuba laying down a Latin beat and the Trombone playing an opening lick.  After the introduction, Trombone and Trumpets take turns with the melody, while Horn and Tuba provide variety and accents.  On the second time through, the key changes to E-flat major and begins with a Trumpets-and-lower-brass fanfare.  The melody repeats, but this time with a different take.  Horn and Trombone take turns with melody and counter melody, then Trumpets take over.  After several cascade effects, the tune reaches its end and Trumpets play an extended version of Trombone’s lick from the introduction.  The group then repeats the final 16 bars of the tune and winds up with an extended ending treatment.  Trombone once again contributes its opening lick, and the arrangement fades away . . . all to a Latin beat.  Enjoy!    Time signature is 2/2 and suggested tempo is 72 BPM, which is maintained all the way through.  There are two instances of a one-bar change to 3/2.  The fanfare at Section C contains a measure and a half of 16th notes.  All notes are well within the normal playing range of the five instruments.    Completed in 2023, performance time runs about 3 minutes, 30 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.  He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms.  For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.  (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.).

Jmsgu3 #124097. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.513333). J. S. Bach: French Suite No. 2 BWV 813 Duration: 11:21 Score: 16 pages. Contents: Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Air, Menuet, Gigue.Johann Sebastian Bach is widely considered one of the greatest composers of all time. He was born in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany in 1685 and is best known for his mastery of the Baroque era of musical composition. One of Bach's most beloved works is the set of French Suites, which he composed in the years between 1722 and 1725. These suites consist of six movements, usually in the forms of allemandes, courantes, sarabandes, gigues, and minuets, which Bach filled with intricate ornamentation. The French Suites were highly influential to later composers, particularly those of the Classical and Romantic periods. Bach's inventiveness in the suites marked a new level of finesse and virtuosity in composition. He also demonstrated his ability to work with preexisting forms and conventions to create a unified and well-crafted whole. The French Suites continue to be performed around the world today, and they remain some of the best-known and most appreciated works.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813872 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 43 pages. Regis Bookshar #6612537. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813872). Brass Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the March from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (43 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. The Nutcracker is an 1892 two-act ballet with a score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It has enjoyed enormous popularity since the late 1960's and is performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season, especially in North America. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. Some critics have called it astonishingly rich in detailed inspiration and from beginning to end, beautiful, melodious, original and characteristic. The ballet's first complete performance outside Russia took place in England in 1934. The first complete United States performance was on December 24, 1944, by the San Francisco Ballet. It was such an enormous success that the San Francisco Ballet has presented The Nutcracker every Christmas Eve and throughout the winter season, debuting new productions in 1944, 1954, 1967 and 2004. In Salt Lake City, it has been performed every year since 1963. The New York City Ballet gave its first annual performance in 1954. In addition to annual live stagings of the work, many productions have also been televised or released on home video. The Nutcracker continues to be one of Tchaikovsky's most popular compositions and contains some of his most memorable works. Tchaikovsky made a selection of eight of the numbers from the ballet before the ballet's December 1892 premiere, forming The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a, and is intended for concert performance. The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the March for a Brass Octet, consisting of 3 Trumpets, 2 French Horns, 2 Trombones and 1 Tuba, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the March, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the Russian Dance as well. Scheduling the March followed by the Russian Dance would be a very satisfying addition to any concert or recital. Please take the time to look for other versions of these compositions. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the March from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favorite, The Nutcracker Suite, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Gordon Cherry #859991. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1267430). George Bizet's L'Arlésienne Suite is a captivating and evocative musical masterpiece that showcases the composer's brilliance and ability to create rich, emotional landscapes through his compositions. Originally composed as incidental music for the play L'Arlésienne by Alphonse Daudet, Bizet later compiled several of these pieces into two separate suites. The suite takes listeners on a journey through the vibrant and picturesque landscapes of Provence, France. From the hauntingly beautiful Prelude, which sets the stage with its melancholic melodies and dramatic tension, to the lively and rhythmic Farandole each movement offers a distinct atmosphere and mood. The suite skillfully combines various musical styles, including folk tunes, dance rhythms, and lyrical melodies, creating a diverse and immersive listening experience. With its intricate orchestration, passionate melodies, and expressive harmonies, L'Arlésienne Suite captures the essence of the characters and story from the original play while standing strong as a standalone musical work.A true gem of French Romantic music, Bizet's L'Arlésienne Suite continues to enchant audiences with its timeless beauty and emotional depth, showcasing the composer's mastery and ability to evoke powerful emotions through his music. This extraordinary 9-minute arrangement for advanced performers by James Haynor features a 10-part Brass Ensemble (double brass quintet) with Percussion. This marvelous arrangement of the Russian Dance from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's extremely popular, The Nutcracker Suite, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but would be most appropriate during the Holiday season. This selection has been arranged to keep all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages). The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance, for a Brass Octet, consisting of 3 Trumpets, 2 French Horns, 2 Trombones and 1 Tuba, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. Pete Strohm Music #6559549. Published by Pete Strohm Music (A0.928172). Suite No. 4 for Brass Quintet (HMV 429) has a dramatic introductory fugue, followed by the four dances that traditionally comprised such suites (Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue). Georg Friedrich Händel wrote 22 keyboard suites over his lifetime, primarily in his younger years. Not all the suites lend themselves to brass performance, but this one is perfectly suited for such treatment. This arrangement balances the five voices or the quintet evenly, and makes for a wonderful ensemble experience. This edition includes the ornaments, tempos and articulations that convey the spirit of the Baroque. Quintets can follow traditional Baroque terraced dynamics or use a more contemporary approach, as suits their own style. Perfect for concerts, recitals and contest, the difficulty level varies by movement from medium to medium-advanced. Total performance time is 12:54. Member, ASCAP.

The suite was first performed, under the composer's direction, on March 19, 1892. The suite became instantly popular with almost every number encored at its premiere.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could also have the opportunity to play some of these wonderful compositions, originally scored for a full orchestra, and has arranged two of the selections, the popular March and the Russian Dance, one of the character dances, based on the traditional Russian and Ukrainian folk dance, Trepak, for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. So, in addition to this version of the Russian Dance for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection for various Quintets and Octets and are readily available. If you should decide to purchase this arrangement of the Russian Dance, I would highly encourage you to also consider purchasing the arrangement of the March as well. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of the Russian Dance from Tchaikovsky's marvelous holiday favori.

Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811250 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by Mark LaFratta. 20th Century,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 69 pages. Gordon Cherry #6535131. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811250). The Severn Suite (Op.87) was composed by Elgar when he was 73 as a test piece for the 1930 British National Brass Band Championships. Elgar dedicated it to his friend, the author, and critic George Bernard Shaw. Some critics consider the Severn Suite to be Elgar’s best work in his later years, arguing that is a neglected masterpiece. The work is very Elgarian in the high Romantic style. It is fine music originally composed for brass by a famous acknowledged master that will be enjoyable for players and audiences alike. The duration of the full piece is around 16:30 and includes five movements, that follow each other without breaks: 1) Introduction (Worcester Castle) – Pomposo (2:10), 2) Toccata (the Tournament Grounds) - Allegro molto (4:20), 3) Fugue (The Cathedral) – Andante (3:00), 4) Minuet (in the Commandery) (5:00) – Moderato, and 5) Coda - Lento – Pomposo (2:00). The River Severn runs through the center of Worcester, England where Elgar spent his childhood and again lived in later life. This work beautifully arranged by Mark LaFratta for standard brass quintet (2 Trumpets in B-flat, Horn, Trombone in bass clef and Tuba) is appropriate for advanced performers and may be performed by all conical instruments as well (Cornets, Horn, Euphonium, and Tuba).
