As the fog burns away, the majesty of the mountain range is revealed.This is a great contrasting piece to program for the middle of your recital. You'll explore both the sweet and heroic sounds of the horn - make sure you save enough to keep building to the apex of the piece at 78. Presented in lead-sheet format (melody, chords, and lyrics), and written in keys accessible to all C instruments and several D instruments such as the penny whistle and mountain dulcimer, the material offers plenty of arrangements. Hymns can be sung by a soloist, in unison by a small group with chordal accompaniment, or a mixed ensemble.

Cather’s poem, Prairie Spring was chosen because it vividly portrays the struggles of the pioneers who originally settled here, yet juxtaposes this struggle with youthful determination, and the optimism and enthusiasm brought about by hope. Veronica’s poem, titled Nebraska, is the centerpiece for the fanfare and celebration of a state that abounds with success in all of the ways that make Nebraska a great place to live. The music begins as the sun is about to rise and burst forth with the promise of a new day. It speaks of Nebraska’s natural beauty and landscapes while the sweet song of the Western Meadowlark, our state bird, drifts on the wind. Next, the changing seasons and thriving spirit of Nebraska’s people are portrayed with an energetic, youthful melody leading into a celebratory sesquicentennial fanfare. But as the seasons change, the listener is reminded that to thrive is also to persevere, and soon a storm begins to loom. First the rolling thunder, then the rain, and finally the full devastation of nature’s fury are realized by the combined forces of both ensembles. Yet, as hope springs eternal, we are reminded again of the strength of the pioneer and the roots that keep us anchored against the storm. But no one has so far been stormed the audience as Lars Ek Hot Trio did. To experience the original Frosini, Nisse Lind, Ragnar Sundquist represents something new and good in the Accordion music. Genuine original accordion music that we remember so dearly good from the 1930-40's and which had been lying idle since then. The above-mentioned debut has caused several national border crossings for the trio. The last is the spring tour in western Norway this year (1985), where I had the honor to accompany the ensemble from Nor fjord Bergen. An experience for both the audience and the musicians. Yet we feel the turbulence after Lasses bellows murmur down the valley-society’s country. At Voss reached climax when history's first Trekkspill-fan-club became a fact of Lars Ek Fan Club. In alternating western country natural emanation from our flower at the fjord to the mountain huge snowstorm where we stood firm on the Vika Mountain on our way to Voss. After waiting up to a snow plow and colon driving, Lars Ek experience a new Norway. These strong impression of the natural contrasts mixed with the local population intimacy and spontaneity and contact Lasse put on the idea of a Norway-LP, which therefore now been completed in record time. Finally, I would quote one of Norway's largest newspapers to: Lars Ek is the best we have heard - and seen - on the accordion. Do not let it go three more years before he is in Bergen again. It vividly describes the appearance of The Galaxy (The Milky Way) with a stream of images: “Torrent of light, the “river of the air whose bed of “glimmering stars appear “Like gold and silver sands in some ravine / Where mountain streams have left their channels bare! Before sharing his poetic opinion of just what The Galaxy is, Longfellow dismisses the view of the eleventh-century Spaniard, who sees it as “the pathway for Santiago Matamoros* to “descend…in celestial armor to save the Christians from the Muslim Moors. Nor does he endorse the ancient Greek view that The Galaxy amounts to a sky “scorched [by] the hoofs of Phaeton's§ horses, when he almost set the world on fire by driving his sun chariot too close to the earth.Ultimately Longfellow sees The Galaxy as “the white drift of worlds o'er chasms of sable, / The star-dust…whirled a loft…From the invisible chariot-wheels of God.The music reflects many of the poem's images, for example: women's voices alone at “gold and silver sands; an open fifth at “channels bare; a quicker tempo at the militant reference to the Spaniard; longer notes at “heav'ns were fair; fugato entrances and a faster tempo at “hot coursers trod; upward spiraling sixteenth notes at “stardust that is whirled aloft; and a climax followed by a softening uncharacteristic chord progression at “invisible chariot-wheels of God.

It is written with parish choirs in mind (with their abundance of soprano and alto voices, but relative lack of male voices!), and consists of three sections. The first part presents the richly harmonised piano accompaniment in the form of a ritornello and the principal, rising melody from the choir, looking to the mountains for an answer to life's challenges and asking from where shall come my help? The second section presents short, pithy phrases sung by each voice separately expressing different ways in which God comes to their aid. The initial melody and accompaniment, repeating the first lines of the psalm, finally return in an altered form (both harmonically and melodically), and the setting ends with a celebration of confidence in the Lord who made heaven and earth.
