Trombone Choir Ensemble - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Charles Ives (1874-1954). Arranged by Ross Holcombe. 20th Century, Americana. Score, Set of Parts. 44 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Here is what the arranger, Ross Holcombe says about his great scoring of this wonderful and unique work by Ives.<br> <br> Ives finished the majority of his Concord Sonata, from which this movement is excerpted, in 1915. According to Ives, the piece reflects on the old Alcott house in Concord, MA, but I feel a greater struggle in this work than a mere journal about a piece of architecture. The fact that Ives quotes Beethoven’s 5th Symphony so extensively makes me wonder about his views on destiny, fate, the future, and the creative process. <br> <br> The piece starts serenely but quickly devolves into uncertainty, doubt, and anger. A floating interlude brings us back to distant memories where we remember that we are shaped by our past, but have control of the direction of our future. Building on that realization and quickly gaining steam, the piece ends with a powerful and joyful climax. The angry Beethoven theme is transformed into one of power, hope, and light. A feeling of calm and contentment ends the piece, finally coming to rest on one simple C major chord.<br> <br> This work is scored for 10 trombones: 1 alto, 7 tenor, and 2 bass trombones and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108059 By Stephen Keeling. By Stephen Keeling. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 21 pages. Stephen Keeling #710678. Published by Stephen Keeling (A0.1108059). The first movement of my Trombone Sonata was composed in 1985 when I was a music student and is written in a modern, somewhat atonal style. I never got round back then to writing a second and third movement as I intended to. I recently came across the score of the first movement and decided to compose a tonal, lyrical slow movement followed by a highly rhythmic finale (with nods to the first movement) to finally complete the sonata. The mp3 plays back the whole sonata.

Piano,Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024003 Composed by Ron Levy. Contemporary. Score and part. 54 pages. Thinkling Music #5733147. Published by Thinkling Music (A0.1024003). I. Da Dee gets its title onomatopoeically from the nursery rhyme-like quality of its opening measures. It is a playground taunt, a nursery rhyme - the Millennial Whoop in augmentation? The movement is in sonata form. II. Waiting for Sunrise emerged from a snippet of melody originally conceived for a solo bassoon piece. (It may show up in my Bassoon Sonata, in another form. I like to reuse and recycle). The way the movement unfolds was inspired perhaps by the grotto scene from Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloe. III. Clown Car The movement opens with a Surprise! gesture - a sort of musical clowning around. The second theme is a mambo bass line accompanying a soaring and hopeful horn line. There is some blues too, before a contemplative coda brings all to a reassuring, if slightly melancholic, close.

Fantasy Sonata, Op. 40 for Trombone and Piano

Piano Accompaniment, Trombone - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Benjamin Schroen. Arranged by Keith Davies Jones. 20th Century, Romantic Period. Score, Solo Part. 21 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Fantasy Sonata, Op. 40 for Trombone and Piano by Benjamin Schroen is a work composed in 1900 which was forgotten and now rediscovered by musicologist and conductor, Dr. Keith Davies Jones.<br> <br> Fantasy Sonata is written in the same virtuoso style as compositions of that period by Joseph Serafin Alschausky, and though quite challenging, it is fully idiomatic for the trombone. There is a passing ‘reference’ to the Concerto by Rimsky-Korsakov, and it is just possible that Schroen might have been familiar with that work as a trombonist himself. There are also some stylistic similarities to the Fantasia for trombone and organ Op.58 composed in the mid-19th century by Friedrich August Belcke (1795 – 1874). <br> <br> The 6.5-minute work featuring several short cadenzas, contrasting dramatic and expressive sections is in Romantic style, in bass and tenor clef and appropriate for intermediate to advanced performers.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.612844 Composed by Jean Baptiste Loeillet of Ghent (1688 – 1720). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Standards,Traditional,Wedding. Score. 59 pages. Jmsgu3 #222039. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.612844). John Baptist Loeillet, a Flemish Baroque composer, wrote six sonatas for flute and basso continuo in his Op. 5 No. 2. This work is widely considered to be some of his most significant compositions, and they are still performed today. The sonatas are divided into three movements each, with two slow movements and one faster one. The flute part is very demanding, as Loeillet often wrote in the high register, and the accompanying basso continuo part provides a solid foundation for the piece. The music has an emotional intensity that was characteristic of the Baroque era, and it features various ornamentations, like trills and mordents. The influence of Corelli can be heard in the contrapuntal textures, and the melodic lines are often based on the scales and modes of the period.Loeillet's Op. 5 No. 2 is a beautiful and captivating work, and its timelessness is a testament to its quality. It has been transcribed and adapted for other instruments, and it remains a popular choice for many classical musicians.Contents:Sonata No. 1 Duration: 9:45 Score: 8 pages 1. Vivace 2. Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672) wrote the Musikalische Exequien, opus 7 (SWV 279-281) for the funeral of Prince Heinrich Posthumus von Reuss (1572-1635). Prince Heinrich’s widow and sons commissioned the work upon his death and provided Schütz with Bible verses as the text, which were also inscribed on the prince’s coffin.<br> <br> Two of the three parts of the Musikalische Exequien have been arranged for 8-part Trombone Ensemble in two different choirs. The first piece, Motet is reminiscent of Gabrieli's Sonatas. The second piece, Canticum Sineonis is dense, rich, and evokes deep spiritual suffering and loss.<br> <br> Two Sacred Pieces have been exquisitely edited and arranged by Kenneth Biggs for moderately advanced performers and work very well with 2 Alto Trombones, 4 Tenor Trombones, and 2 Bass Trombones.

His compositions demonstrate the shift from the Baroque to the Classical style, and his works served as a bridge between the two periods. His chamber music was often praised by his contemporaries, and he was one of the first composers to use a modern concerto grosso form. Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549869 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Concert,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Jmsgu3 #3559131. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549869). Beethoven Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 arranged for brass quintet. Duration: ca: 10:15 Score: 30 pages, 242 measures. In two movements. A great recital piece to demonstrate the many subtle nuances of the brass quintet. Sonata Op. 49 No. 2 Arranged from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 20, this is a simple but interesting work in two movements showing the composers sense of humor. The first movement Allegro ma non troppo and the second movement Tempo di Menuetto are both in the key of G. Both Sonatas 19 and 20 (op. 49, No. 1 & 2) are named Easy Sonatas because they are technically easier than the usual Beethoven Sonatas. This makes them very popular among students and teachers alike. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. Above all, he was probably one of the greatest composers in history. As a result, he is a pivotal character in the progress between the Classical and Romantic periods. He is certainly one of the most famous and hence important of all composers. Seems like his most familiar and noteworthy works include symphonies 1-9; piano concertos 1-5; and furthermore, the violin concerto. Also, certainly of extreme importance are the noteworthy 32 sonatas for the piano; the string quartets 1-16; the Missa solemnis; and likewise, his only opera, Fidelio. Beethoven Overview First of all, Beethoven was born and consequently raised in Bonn. Upon turning 21 he moved to Vienna probably to study composition with Haydn. That’s when he consequently grew a reputation as a brilliant pianist. Furthermore, he probably stayed in Vienna the rest of his life. In his late 20s it seems like his hearing certainly began to decline. It slowly declined until consequently he was nearly totally deaf probably by the last decade of his life. As a result, he stopped conducting and performing. Nevertheless, he continued to compose. As a result, some of his greatest works probably come from this period. First Period Seems like we often divide Beethoven’s life into three periods. Period 1 begins with Beethoven’s arrival in Vienna. Hence, during this period, he mastered the Viennese style of Haydn & Mozart. He consequently began increasing the size and scale of his works. Furthermore, he experimented with extreme dynamics, and likewise extreme tempi. He worked similarly with chromatic harmony. His First and Second Symphonies therefore belong to this period. Other important works also belong here: the first six string quartets and the Sonata Pathétique, Op. 13. Second Period His second period probably began as soon as he realized that he was going deaf. During this period, it seems like he became obsessed with the idea of heroism. His works consequently become even larger and more massive. The most noteworthy of these include the symphonies 3 – 8, piano concertos 5& 6, 5 string quartets, several important piano sonatas (Waldstein and Appassionata), the Kreutzer violin sonata, the violin concerto and his only opera: Fidelio. Third Period In contrast, Beethoven's third period is branded above all by works of incredible intellectual depth, formal innovation, and penetrating expression. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano. www.jamesguthrie.com.

One of Beethoven's finest and most famous works. Program for a recital, church meditation or school program. Bring your best espressivo and plan to rehearse the many subtle dynamic changes. Sonata Pathétique Op. 13 First of all, this is an arrangement of the second movement of Beethoven’s Sonata Pathétique. It seems like Beethoven wrote this piece before becoming troubled by deafness. Published in 1799, it consequently remains one of the most celebrated pieces Beethoven ever wrote. As a result of its popularity, the movement was therefore performed by Karl Haas. Hass recorded it for a popular radio show called: Adventures in Good Music. Beethoven Background Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 –1827) was certainly a German pianist. It seems like he continued to expand his works. Consequently, the string quartet Op. 131 spills over into seven connected movements. Likewise, in the Ninth Symphony, he adds choral forces to his orchestra probably for the first time in history. Even more, other works from this period include his Missa solemnis, the final 5 string quartets (including the enormous Große Fuge) and the final five sonatas for piano. www.jamesguthrie.com.

Piano,Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.551531 Composed by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788). Arranged by James Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 22 pages. Jmsgu3 #5309593. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.551531). Sonata Wq. 124 in E Minor: 1. Adagio 2. Allegro 3. Menuett & 2 VariationsCarl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) was an influential composer who worked during a transition between the Baroque and Classical styles of music. His approach, empfindsamer Stil or sensitive style, applied the principles of rhetoric and drama to musical structures. The duets composed by C.P.E. Bach are significant because they showcase his unique style and are considered some of his most important works. They are known for their unpredictability and expressive qualities, which were a departure from his father's style, Johann Sebastian Bach. The historical context of C.P.E. Bach's Wq 124 Sonatas lies in the mid-18th century during the transition between the Baroque and Classical periods. This period was characterized by significant changes in musical style, with composers exploring new forms and expressive techniques. As a prominent figure of this era, C.P.E. Bach played a crucial role in shaping the emerging Classical style, and his keyboard sonatas, including the Wq 124 Sonatas, reflect the expressive and innovative characteristics of this transitional period. The Wq 124 Sonatas are a testament to Bach's unique musical language. Their historical significance lies in their contribution to the development of keyboard music during this pivotal period in music history.

Vivaldi was one of the first composers to make use of this form, and his works set the standard for future composers. Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813625 Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 13 pages. Regis Bookshar #6433359. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813625). Trombone Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of the Allegro movement from Henry Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (13 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term Sonata here probably means no more than a piece of incidental music and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the fast-slow-fast plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the Allegro movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. This particular arrangement is for a Trombone Octet, consisting of 8 Trombones, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check back periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Purcell's Allegro from his Sonata for Trumpet will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
