Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.893864 Composed by David Kai. Celtic,Folk,Pop. Score. 5 pages. David Kai #6100233. Published by David Kai (A0.893864). A song celebrating the people of Gander, Newfoundland & Labrador in Canada who helped close to 7,000 stranded airline passengers after September 11, 2001. The story of Gander and the surrounding towns has been immortalized in the Broadway show, Come From Away. The song is written in a Celtic/Newfoundland style. This song is dedicated to my spouse Marly's parents, Isaac and Sybil who were a part of the crew who helped the plane people in Gander through their involvement in the Anglican church. WHEN THE WORLD DROPS IN TO TOWN Words and music by David Kai ©2020 On the 11th of September, in a quiet little town In a place that they call Newfoundland, all the planes were coming down Just how many were arriving, it was hard to know or tell In a quiet town in Newfoundland on the day the towers fell. With ten thousand waiting on the ground, seven thousand on their way The schools and halls and churches were preparing for their stay And not only in Gander, but in places all around ‘Cause you’ve got to pull together when the world drops into town. Chorus: So raise a glass to them, let’s sing a song to cheer For all the workers, cooks and clerks, for all the volunteers Who showed such kindness, who stepped up when chips were down ‘Cause you’ve got to pull together when the world drops into town All the stores they opened up their doors, the supplies, how fast they flew! Take it all to help the plane people, it’s the least that we can do! Aunt Winnie baked two dozen of her partridgeberry pies She said, I think those plane people will be in for some surprise! So the people were all settled, and much to their delight There were home-cooked meals and showers in homes, even trips to see the sights Though they came from countries ‘round the world, they did seem to all fit in And in kitchen parties here and there, new found friends were being screeched in. Chorus: Soon the skies, they were reopened, just a week and they were gone Though the planes took off into the skies all the memories lingered on For what they all remember, and what’s talked of to this day Is how townsfolk cared for people who had come from far away. So let’s sing and let’s be thankful, for each and every one Who showed us how to live together in the year two-thousand one, Let’s celebrate their kindness, for we never will forget, That in Newfoundland a stranger’s just a friend you haven’t met. Chorus:

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1419806 By Fiona Alice Hickie. By Fiona Alice Hickie. Arranged by Fiona Alice Hickie. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Latin. 17 pages. Fiona Alice Hickie #1001228. Published by Fiona Alice Hickie (A0.1419806). A piece for brass quintet based on the poem by the same name. It is a slow piece is a South American style.Based on the poem: Lyrics: 1. My roots once clung to the earth, The wind is calm the river still. As if nothing else survives. My world is empty, am I alive? From my limbs a fruit was plucked, Within its sheath my heart was tucked. Its seeds contained my unknown future, Inside a flesh so sweet and pure. 2. Would my seeds find a place to fall? Nice fertile ground so they'd grow tall. Or would they find some barren ground. Where no love or nurture can be found? Without the fruit my limbs were bare. An old tree nearby just stood and stared. Why should it stop and help the tree Who let its fruit be taken from thee. 3. About the charmer who took the fruit? Should he help to make them grow? Instead he walked right off the land. With barely a wave of his hand. He bit the apple as he walked away. Enjoying its flesh but did not stay. No care at all for the damage he’d done He took the heart from his loved one. 4. So grow another fruit you say. And yes that would be the logical way. But some trees grow abundant fruit. Small and nice without dispute. Others instead grow one to perfection. Round and sweet, on close inspection. But once it’s gone then that is all. Then no more shall ever fall. 5. I sit here on the barren hill, The wind is calm the river still. As if nothing else survives. The world is empty no soul survives. Dedicated to Ben van den Akker.

Instrumental Duet,Keyboard - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1497861 Composed by Jenni Roditi. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 26 pages. Jenni Roditi #1074273. Published by Jenni Roditi (A0.1497861). Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Ritualise, Between the Octaves finally found its identity with the word ritualise. It began as announce, became pronounce, then declare and went as far a pontificate for a title. At that point I realised I was mocking my own music and needed to take it more seriously. Ritualise brought out a meaning to the music that I hadn’t wanted to admit to. It is quite folk-like, in a primal and entrancing kind of way. I can imagine a communal dance for some ceremonial purpose in this music with both public and private elements.Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Piano Duo is ideally two Steinway grands, otherwise, whatever is available. An enjoyment of the tensions and relationships generated between the two instruments: grand-upright, upright-electronic keyboard is to be explored as a positive. Each piece creates its own world in the suite and can be part of smaller subgroups taken from the suite, in any combination, but the order of the pieces needs to be maintained if more than one is played. Here is a taste of the background to the musical world of this 53 minute compositional suite. During a reflective time I read the following: The whole philosophy of dharma art (Buddhist art) is that you don't try to be artistic, but you just approach objects as they are, and the message comes through automatically. (Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, from 'True Perception The Path of Dharma Art.' Shambhala 2008, p.133.) The 'objects as they are' became the 'octaves as they are'. As the pieces were composed the octaves had a centring and clarifying role that allowed other material to circulate around or play against them. They acted as pivots, repetitions, drones, ostinati, pointillist nodes, pedals, melodic features, struts, harmonic turnpikes, breathing spaces, bass lines: musical imperatives. The octaves called the musical shots most of the time. When the music pulled a semitone up or down and away from the octaves (as it did quite often) it was especially telling in the context of the ringing spaces the octaves were creating. I became interested in the subtle dislocation that two pianos could provide. By dislocation I mean a degree of tension between the natural acoustics of the two instruments in the room and the players idiosyncrasies as musicians. The whole point of this work was to examine the nature of my syntax, grammar, and compositional thinking. The title demanded one thing above all: what notes am I going to use between these octaves?? My choice of notes was derived in most instances from the tempo, pitch, and rhythm of the initial octaves at the beginning of each piece alongside the individual word titles that I set out to explore as musical images. The audio was developed from Sibelius software, via MIDI to Logic samples of a Steinway grand piano.

Piano Duo 2 pianos/4 hands. Curve, Between the Octaves points to a fugal past, where lines enter and build in stately flow. It invites lines to intermingle, without assuming they will all arrive somewhere, or at the same time. A certain intensity builds, then scales, both up and down, free themselves from the discussion of the interleaving lines. The chromaticism suggests curving between harmonies, and is nearly always ambivalent. An assertive chordal climax intervenes to shake off the tensions, yet this peels away into further curvatures that twist and twirl, until a final resting point agrees to present itself. Names of all the movements in the suite Between the Octaves in the right order are Initiate, Surrender, Thread, Curve, Encircle, Ritualise, Ignite. The whole suite follows a long line from movement 1 to movement 7. However, individual pieces are well suited to be played alone too. Score. 6 pages. Timothy Stapay #1014928. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1434797). Across the Universe is a song that holds a special place in the hearts of many Beatles fans. It was released as part of their final studio album, Let It Be, and holds a deep and profound meaning both lyrically and musically.Lyrically, Across the Universe is a complex and poetic exploration of spirituality, love, and universal connection. John Lennon, the primary songwriter of the song, crafted lyrics that evoke a sense of transcendence and the interconnectedness of all things. The song takes listeners on a journey through beautiful imagery and metaphors, inviting them to contemplate the vastness and wonder of the universe.Words are flowing outLike endless rain into a paper cupThey slither wildly as they slip away across the universePools of sorrow waves of joyAre drifting through my opened mindPossessing and caressing meJai Guru Deva, OmNothing's gonna change my worldNothing's gonna change my worldNothing's gonna change my worldNothing's gonna change my worldImages of broken lightWhich dance before me like a million eyesThey call me on and on across the universeThoughts meander like aRestless wind inside a letter boxThey tumble blindly as they make their way across the universeJai Guru Deva, OmNothing's gonna change my worldNothing's gonna change my worldNothing's gonna change my worldNothing's gonna change my world.

By Jimmy Eat World. Arranged by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee. Score, Set of Parts. 14 pages. Published by Sarah Chaffee
One of the biggest and most ubiquitous hits of the early 2000's, "The Middle" was a breakout hit for Jimmy Eat World that placed them among the ranks of other big names of the day like Weezer, Blink-182 and Green Day. It was impossible not to know this song back then, and it has since become a classic throwback song for the millennial generation! This arrangement for two-violin and cello trio maintains the fun upbeat tempo and dynamic contrasts of the original, and it's pretty much guaranteed to get everybody singing along! Perfect for pop concerts, solo & ensemble contests, parties, corporate events, or even wedding receptions, this chart is easily sightreadable for professionals and playable for intermediate students. Nothing very tricky here - but violin 2 might want to take a quick look at the fun guitar solo before reading it!<br> <br> Why choose Cellobat Charts arrangements? For any musician who knows what they're doing, the answer is easy: just listen to them. Every freelance musician has thrown hard-earned money away on questionable, error-filled charts by unknown arrangers from weird corners of the Internet. But watch out -- inferior arrangements not only make gigs less enjoyable to play, but they also make your group sound bad to your client and audience, no matter how great your players really are. That's why Cellobat Charts is here: to provide students and working string players alike with high-quality versions of highly requested music. My arrangements are guaranteed to be energetic, fun to play, and enjoyable to listen to, whether or not you're familiar with the original songs. Hear the difference for yourself! Full videos of many Cellobat Charts arrangements are available on YouTube so you know exactly what you're getting. Click "Watch" near the item details at the top of the page for full video of "The Middle." Crowd pleasing guaranteed.

Trumpet Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018953 Composed by Benjamin Harr…

Trumpet Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018953 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078693. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018953). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  The second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. French Horn Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018951 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078691. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018951).
