By Graham Hamilton. Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Historic,Medieval. Brass Band. 83 pages. Hambone Music #1018484. Published by Hambone Music (A0.1438467). A beautiful slow melody in 4/4 followed by a rousing 6/4 trek with fanfares then returning to the slow melody in 4/4. Not overly difficult but players should be around Grade 5 (ABRSM) and bands of around 2nd to 3rd section, although still possible with 4th section bands. Inspired by an old ruined church in my town called the 'Cross Kirk' during the times of the Cromwellian invasion of Scotland.Part 1 It is around the year 1650. A novice monk awakes from his slumber to the echoes of prayers and holy chanting coming through the cloisters. After he rises, he readies the oxen for a trek down the St. Andrews Road to the nearby satellite site of the priory - the site of the modern day St Andrew's cemetery. Part 2 It is an arduous trek over a muddy, rocky, unprepared track with heavy carts, with oxen straining to pull the load. They stop for a breather (3:09) and the impressive vistas are observed and the flag at 'Auld Neidpath' is just visible, reflected in the noble theme between the arduous oxen trekking theme. Part 3 The caravan starts to speed up; the oxen being startled by the sounds of fanfare trumpets coming from behind - a brave group of knights have broken through English lines and speed towards Neidpath to reinforce the besieged occupants. As they pass the wagon train, the fanfares get louder until the party reach the head of the train where the lead Knight halts to show piety to the Hieromonk who blesses him and his knights. The novice looks on awe-inspired at the brave knights, with noble faces, resplendent in shining armour, with banners flapping in the wind. No time to stop! The knights remount and continue on, the fanfares trailing off into the distance. The wagon train slows down having reached its destination. Part 4 The novice is back at the priory, reflecting on seeing knights for the first time (receiving their blessing); their nobility and bravery impressed upon him and retires to his cell for the evening, the evening prayers and chants again echoing through the cloisters . As he closes his eyes, his mind returns to the knights and a smile crosses his face as he gently drifts off to sleep, as the final bell of the day tolls.

Bass Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784829 Composed by McCorkle, Dennis F. Broadway,Christian,Gospel,Musical/Show,Rock. 23 pages. DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11749. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784829). ACT TWO: Song 3. The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [1 Chronicles 13:1-3 - And David consulted with the captains of thousands and of hundreds, even with every leader. 2 And David said unto all the assembly of Israel: ‘If it seem good to you, and if it be of Yahweh our God, let us send abroad everywhere unto our brethren that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites that are in their cities that have open land about them, that they may gather themselves unto us; 3 and let us bring back the ark of our God to us; for we sought not unto it in the days of Saul.’] [1 Chronicles 13:7-10 - And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab; and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. 8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might; even with songs, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets. 9 And when they came unto the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. 10 And the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzza, and He smote him, because he put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God.] Realizing the need for a central capital from which to govern, DAVID and the united clans capture the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem. Concerned about the people and solidifying the position, DAVID assembles the commanders and leaders of the people to discuss the possibility of relocating the Ark of the Covenant from the house of Abinadab in Kiriath-jearim, where it had been stored for seventy years, to Jerusalem. DAVID orders a new cart be made for its transport, disregarding the directives from God that only permitted the Levites to move the Ark and only carried with the poles on their shoulders [Role it on Down the Highway – Ahio and David’s Troops]. When the Ark reaches the threshing-floor at Nacon, the oxen stumble and Uzzah puts his hand out to steady it and is instantly killed. Published by Vocal Works (A0.741949). A completely different setting of the text written a year after the original for choral composition contest. In Bethlehem, the House of Bread, the Bread of Life is found, For David’s root and David’s branch is born in David’s town. A manna in our wilderness, a gift that we might live, Lies in the oxen’s manger, His life to freely give. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The new-forged light o’er Bethlehem guides seekers from afar; Reveals the place where lightly lies the Bright and Morning Star. His dawning beams with mercy, for He will freely be Our compass and our lantern for all eternity. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The shepherds bring their milk-white lambs before the Lamb of God And mark the oxen, rams and kine about Him on the sod. The last and lasting sacrifice, fulfilling all the law, Without a spot or blemish, lies nestled in the straw. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The wise lay gifts around the child, the Gift of Father’s love, The Author of salvation’s song, the Bread sent from above. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The Prince of Peace lies soft and sweetly on His bed this Christmas Day.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291800 Composed by Eoghan Desmond. A Cappella,Celtic,Irish. 15 pages. Seolta Music Limited #882412. Published by Seolta Music Limited (A0.1291800). Oxen of the Sun, composed for the Choral Scholars of University College Dublin and Irish horn player Cormac Ó hAodáin in 2017, is a true celebration of the miracle of childbirth.Quoting a fragment of text from Chapter 14 of James Joyce’s Ulysses, composer Eoghan Desmond portrays childbirth as a divine mystery. The greeting fanfare of a solo horn in tandem with the choir depicts a mystical incantation by doctors in Dublin’s Holles Street Maternity Hospital – ‘Deshil Holles Eamus/clockwise we go’, in other words, ‘while we wait for the mother to give birth, we will proceed in a clockwise manner’. The birthing begins with active music on the words ‘send us bright one, light one, Hornhorn, quickening and wombfruit’.To explore all choral titles in College Choral Series please click here.

Choral Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.801665 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Connie Boss. Celtic,Christmas,Irish,Multicultural,Sacred,World. Score. 9 pages. Connie Boss #6383851. Published by Connie Boss (A0.801665). This is a medley of 3 Christmas Carols - In the Bleak Mid Winter (English), Gesu Bambino (Italian) and The Snow Lay on the Ground (Irish). Venite Adoremus means O Come Let Us Adore Him, Christ the Lord. I thought it sounded nice to have it in SATB parts - taking turns between the high and low voices and then all together. cdboss@cvalley.netLyrics Below:O Come Let Us Adore Him (Venite Adoremus, Dominum)  (Medley of In the Bleak Midwinter, Gesu Bambino and The Snow Lay on the Ground  In the bleak midwinter, frosty winds made moan Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone Snow had fallen snow on snow, snow on snow. In the bleak midwinter, long, long, ago.  When blossoms flower amid the snow, upon a winter night Was born the Child, the Christmas Rose, The King of Love and Light.  Venite Adoremus, Dominum Venite Adoremus, Dominum  Twas Mary daughter pure of Holy Anne. That brought into this world the God made man She laid Him in a stall at Bethlehem. The ass and oxen shared the roof with Him.  Again the heart with rapture glows, to greet the Holy night. That gave the world it’s Christmas Rose, it’s King of Love and Light  Venite Adoremus, Dominum Venite Adoremus, Dominum  And thus that manger poor became a throne, for He whom Mary bore was God the Son O come then let us join the heav’nly host to praise the Father, Son and Holy Ghost  O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord  O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord Venite Adoremus, Dominum! Folk Songs For Classical Guitar - Volume 26 (Songs 676-702)
Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1162569 Comp…

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1162569 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 43 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #762940. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1162569). This is the twenty-sixth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view.Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 26 (Songs 676-702)Once a Farmer and His WifeOnce I Loved a LassOnce I Loved a maiden fairOne man went to mowOne More RibberOrientis PartibusOrphan Girl (the)Ould John BraddlumOur Captain cried All Hands 1Our Captain cried All Hands 2Our Captain cried All Hands 3The Outlandish KnightOwl (the)Oxen Ploughing (the)Paddy on the RailwayPainful Plough (the)Parson HoggPaul JonesPay Me My Money DownPeace O’er the WorldPeggy BondPenny Wager (the)Pine Tree (The)Piper o’ Dundee (the)Plains of Waterloo (the)Ploughboy’s GloryPoacher’s Song.

St. Peter (In Christ There Is No East or West)
Brass ensemble

(+)
Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808694 Composed by Alexander R. Reinagle (1799-1877). Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Christian,Easter,Holiday,Sacred. Score and parts. 22 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #4798569. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808694). British composer Alexander Robert Reinagle wrote this melody about 1836 and named it after the church where he was organist, Oxford's St. Peter-in-the-East. First published as a musical setting for Psalm 118, it was adapted to John Newton’s How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds in 1861 and then to the hymn by John Oxenham (William A. Dunkerley), In Christ There Is No East or West, in the early 20th Century. While some sources specify that the St. Peter melody should be played without any festive fanfares, this brass quintet version does contain a few ceremonial flourishes. Most players will have little or no difficulty with this piece. The andante moderato tempo should be interpreted as somewhere in the vicinity of quarter note = 92. Most of the rhythm patterns involve quarter and eighth notes, with a few 16th-note passages scattered throughout. Trumpet 1’s highest note is its high A; tuba’s lowest is G below the staff. Otherwise, the music remains well within the normal playing range of all instruments. This arrangement was completed in 2019, and performance time runs about 4 minutes, 13 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge; contact him directly at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the SheetMusicPlus search box.

Leonora Hardy #902622. Published by Leonora Hardy (A0.1313899). An easily learned arrangement for the church pianist who wants to have a more flowing style of music to accompany congregational singing. A good selection for Missions Sunday or World Communion Sunday. There are three variations which can be used individually, or one for each verse. The melody is retained, as well as traditional timing to help singers even if a song leader is not present. It is also suitable for preludes or offertories  Lyrics included  Right hand melody. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.701457). An original hymn with text by Kathryn Hales below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/w68JlvntMjcI did not see the vision, Nor dream a prophet’s dream, I only saw the barren desert Stretch forth upon the scene. I was not there when Brigham’s cane Touched the virgin ground Naming the spot the Lord had shown Where a temple would be found. I did not hear the Lord’s own voice As over ocean waves I tossed, Nor spared the death of loved ones dear As the vast plains I crossed. I only felt the Holy Spirit Telling me the work was true, So I obeyed the prophetic words Until my trek was through. I helped dig the rocky soil Before the foundation was laid Then with shovel filled the gaping hole Before Johnston’s army stayed. I did not see the temple’s spires I only saw the walls, I only shaped the granite stones With hammer, chisel, maul. I coaxed oxen through the mud To move stones down a mountain side, I watched our leaders grow old in years, No temple finished before they died. Now soon I too will join them Though I’ve labored oh so long, I’ll not see the rising spires Or sing praises in Hosanna song. I’m just a common earthly man, A laborer in a cause so great, To generations yet unborn, I’m not one you’ll appreciate. Through the years I’ve toiled and sweat, Shared blood and grief and tears, Obeyed the prophet’s call to serve Listened in faith, not fear. Please do not take for granted As you walk through these carved doors, Or hear the echo of carpenters From stairs or roof or floors The love and work that went into Many years of toil and prayer, Feel our spirits in the halls As you enter there. Though the structure’s end I’ll not see, To others who this path may trod, Go forth with diligence and faith Till we finish the work of God.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.701458 Composed by Kevin G. Pace, Kathryn W. Hales. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 3 pages. Kevin G. Pace #3125373. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.701458). An original hymn about pioneer women. See the text by Kathryn Hales below.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/fHirSHGBR0M The women walked alongside the wagons, The burden on oxen to spare, Wrapped in a shawl or a blanket, Their feet often calloused and bare. They met at the quarter-master’s wagon, Their own scant rations to receive, Then with culinary skills prepared A meal, a family’s hunger to relieve. Their prayers arose like incense From the campfires’ spark-filled glow, That the God they believed in from Heaven Would bless their loved ones below. Left alone to drive the wagons When military duty was the demand, Courageous pioneer women Obeyed the prophet’s commands. Some lived to complete their journey; Some died by the trail on the way, Yet the trials or hardships encountered, Their faith in God did not sway. Whether over the rivers or mountains They trudged onward each day, Till they arrived in The Valley, And prayed for more courage to stay. Praise be to such pioneer women, Who with courage did their part, For the building up of a holy people, With Zion a goal of their hearts. Valiant men have always needed Virtuous women by their sides, So both can progress together And in God’s eternal home abide.
