Piano Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.940054 Composed by Various. Arranged by David M. Porritt. Romantic Period,Spiritual. Score. 10 pages. David M. Porritt #3415535. Published by David M. Porritt (A0.940054). Three pieces common to the Easter Season - but appropriate all year. Beneath the Cross of Jesus is overlaid on the form of the Moonlight Sonata in an arrangement that is appreciated my both lovers of classical music and familiar hymns. O sacred Head Now Wounded is a re harmonization of the well known hymn. Were You There is a free flowing arrangement of an old Spiritual that musically reflects the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.973026 Composed by Francis Kayali. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 26 pages. Francis Kayali #5718759. Published by Francis Kayali (A0.973026). Composed between January and March 2003, the Suite for Piano was written for a recital by pianist Qi Liu (1976-2017), at Stony Brook University, in March of 2003.The opening of the first movement evokes bells, not unlike those in Rachmaninoff’s RusÂsian Easter (the finale of his First Suite for Two Pianos). This is contrasted with a short and murky rising gesture. The middle section incorporates pianistic patterns (some reminiscent of Debussy), a yearning IbeÂrian melody, and a barely-recognizÂable snippet of Chopin used for a climax. The murky gesture eventually returns, introducing a triumphant stateÂment of the opening bells.Early on, I had decided the piece should include references to the other pieces on the reÂcital’s program: Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 18 (op. 31, No. 3) and Brahms’s F minor SoÂnata (op. 5). As soon as I had word from Qi that she was going to play the Beethoven, I immediÂately wanted to hear it. I wasn’t familiar with the piece, and since I didn’t have a score or a reÂcording of it at home, I decided to download it in MIDI format from the internet. Unbeknownst to me, the computer’s rendition transformed the lively secÂond movement scherzo into a slow-moving hymn which reminded me of the Ode to Joy. I was quite surÂprised the next mornÂing when I went to the muÂsic library and listened to a reÂcording played by a human. Nonetheless, I was drawn to the melody, and I found the slow effect interesting, so I deÂcided to base my middle movement (the slow movement) around the theme of BeethoÂven’s scherzo, making it the hidÂden theme for a short set of variations. The end of the movement also contains less direct referÂences to the music of Brahms (very short alluÂsions to the Sonata and to the Variations on a Theme by Haydn). The last movement explores fast and light fingerwork, in a sort of toccata or capriccio, proÂviding a flashy ending to the piece. As in the first movement, the form is A-B-A. Before the return of the first section, a little dance evokes the opening of the piece. (The murky gesture from the first movement also finds its way into this last movement). Each of the three movements experiments at one point with using the sustain pedal in order to create a wash of sound. This effect is used most prominently in the second movement.Movement I: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-NKcs076UIMovement II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSxkOcdlpiYMovement III: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CntmWYdOA9Y

Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.829765 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Amanda Dills. Christmas,Easter,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score. 4 pages. Amanda Dills #5287557. Published by Amanda Dills (A0.829765). One of the most famous musical themes in the world has been arranged for easy piano, arranged here in a series of 4 short pieces. The theme and three variations can each be played or taught separately, or in any combination, for a wide variety of settings or players. 1. THEME - In middle C position, the theme is simple, straightforward and fun for beginning players.2. VARIATION 1 (Carousel) - This variation is in C position and 3/4 time, with opportunities for phrasing and finger crossing.3. VARIATION 2 (Rainy Day) - This variation is in A minor, with the melody in the left hand - great for expanding note reading and hand independence.4. VARIATION 3 (Finale) - The final variation is in D Major, and played very quickly and rhythmically, with a fun octave jump a for both hands at the end.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1379530 By Henrietta Atkin. By African-American Spirituals. Arranged by Henrietta Atkin. Christian,Easter,Religious,Spiritual. Score. 7 pages. Henrietta Atkin #964235. Published by Henrietta Atkin (A0.1379530). These two African-American spirituals (Calvary and They Crucified My Lord (And He Never Said A Mumbalin' Word)) are rarely arranged as piano preludes for church.Yet their lyrics, and thus the reflection they invoke, could hardly be more fitting for Good Friday services and masses. Composed by unknown enslaved persons, who were all too familiar with physical agony and pain, these spirituals shed an immediate light on the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Both pieces are set with lush harmonies, with a different iteration of the melody in each of their three parts. Reflective, poignant, powerful and prayerful, each arrangement is appropriate for Good Friday liturgies, as reflections during The Seven Last Words of Christ, and preludes during masses for suffering people worldwide.

Bach: 15 Two-Part Inventions for Clarinet & Bass Clarinet

Clarinet Duet Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.550551 Composed by J. S. Bach, 1685-1750. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Christmas,Easter,Standards. 2 scores. 66 pages. Jmsgu3 #4729583. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.550551). The 15 Two-Part Inventions BWV 772-786, arranged for Clarinet & Bass Clarinet. The historical context of Bach's 15 Two-Part Inventions is rooted in their didactic purpose and significance in developing keyboard technique and musical expression. Composed around 1720, these pieces were part of Bach's Klavierbüchlein, a collection of 62 short works for keyboard compiled for his nine-year-old son, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. The Inventions were designed as exercises to teach two-part playing, familiarize students with musical ideas, and provide a taste of composition. They were structured with care, with the first three based on scales, the following three on broken chords, and a combination of both in the final piece, almost resembling a fugue in form. Bach's Inventions are experiments on musical ideas and a new way of combining lines, reflecting his didactic aim and providing a clear path for students to learn to play cleanly in two parts and acquire a strong foretaste of composition.  The Inventions' musical elements, composition, and piano technique can be effectively learned and expressed through different instruments. The adaptability of Bach's Two-Part Inventions to various instruments allows for a broader exploration of musical ideas and will enable instrumentalists to develop their technical and expressive abilities.

Some of the pieces are solo piano and others feature duets with Mitch Iimori on English horn, oboe, and guitar (but not all at the same time!). The two musicians are obviously exceptionally comfortable and in tune with each other, and the results can be stunning. Very classical in scope and structure, the music is reflective of the natural surroundings of Ms Stevens’ home in the Colombia Gorge region of northern Oregon. The first eight of the fourteen tracks make up the Seasons Suite, a group of lyrical compositions inspired by the various times of year in a remote area of eastern Oregon. The other six pieces also have themes of nature and serenity. The Seasons Suite begins with Colors Change, obviously about the transition of summer into fall, but also about the concept of change as we grow. Reflective and subdued, the interplay between Stevens’ piano and Iimori’s oboe is effortless and flowing. Autumn Wind picks up the pace a bit, but continues the easy flow, bringing images of leaves swirling in the ceaseless wind of that area. Signs of Winter is a bit darker and more mysterious. Iimori is a big fan of Paul McCandless, and that musician’s influence is very strongly heard in these first three pieces - a very good thing! In Clouds, Iimori switches from oboe to English horn. This duet with the piano is a dramatic musical depiction of the gathering clouds and anticipation of a coming thunder storm. I really like it a lot! Snow is tranquility set to music. Sparrow’s Song brings us to the beginnings of spring - the freshness in the air, and the joyful songs of birds in the yard. July reflects the laziness of a hot summer day. Season’s Reprise brings together the themes from the various seasons, creating a lovely closing to the Suite. On Summit, Iimori trades his woodwinds for guitar in a gentle, sweeping duet with the piano. Waning Star is a gorgeous piano solo that has a peaceful grace and quiet serenity - a favorite. Reach For the Stars is a piano solo that has an uplifting sense of moving forward and reaching out. Dawn closes the CD with a warm and soothing confection. The piano is accompanied by light percussion, bass, and washes of synth strings. Full of hope and optimism without being sugarcoated, this piece is spellbinding in its gentle way.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281185 By Kevin Longley. By Kevin Longley. Arranged by Kevin Longley. Christian,Easter,Lent,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Kevin Longley #872527. Published by Kevin Longley (A0.1281185). He Will Lead Me Home (choral church anthem composed in 2023)The InspirationA few Easter seasons ago, during one of our Tuesday Choir rehearsals, we were preparing for “Good Shepherd Sundayâ€. Diane our Choir director commented “there are very few Good Shepherd pieces to choose fromâ€. One of our sopranos replied “Let's write our ownâ€. I made note of it and this past year finally found the time and inspiration to give it a try. I did my usual research on the subject matter and then found a drawing of a Shepherd standing at the top of a hill with his sheep lined up behind him. Leaning on his staff the Shepherd was contemplating the safest route home. Upon his decision he looked back and called to his sheep. The MusicThe music begins with a piano introduction depicting the Shepherd standing at the top of the hill contemplating the safest route home, as noted earlier. Stately in nature it features a simple melodic idea, played by the right hand, which is then answered by a series of majestic chords. This “back and forth†continues until it reaches its climax at a D flat major chord against a slur from a high G to F. At this point we hear what will be a reoccurring chordal theme of C major to F major and later C minor to F major. The accompaniment begins, now in three quarter time signifying the sheep beginning to move in response to the shepherds call. The verse melody is drawn from the opening three notes of the introduction but with a different rhythm and repeats it self with underlying harmonic changes. The melody and chord structure is somewhat impressionistic in nature. Lyrically a contrast is drawn between how the Shepherd (Jesus) provides for his sheep (followers) and how God provides for the “sheep†(animals) through nature. As the verse comes to an end we are lead to the realization that “the shepherd is the Lord our King, the Good Shepherd Kingâ€. The refrain begins with the tenor continuing to solo on the main melody. â€He Will Lead Home†is realized and proclaimed! A soprano descant is added for contrast. Harmonically the music makes use of the various minor key options, “melodic, harmonic and naturalâ€. The refrain concludes proclaiming “The Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€. The second verse shadows the thought pattern of verse one leading to the refrain once more but this time a bridge is introduced to add drama with the piano playing a significant role. A return to the refrain is varied with the tenor singing a portion of it against softly played chords; but then resumes its rhythmic drive to its ultimate conclusion by repeating “the Good Shepherds the Way He's our Life!â€.Program NotesVoicing can be varied based on what types of singers are available. For example this could be sung by 2 tenors with one singing the descant down an octave. Finally as noted in the score, the intro is optional though I prefer it be played; the shepherd contemplating a safe route is important in the music with its contrast to the verse music and important in our life of faith.Â

Henrietta Atkin #973230. Published by Henrietta Atkin (A0.1389633). This classic hymn tune has been arranged into a joyous, upbeat chorale partita in the tradition of Walther, Pachelbel and Zachow. A somewhat repetitive melody has been transformed into three very different variations.First, the hymn melody is arpeggiated in the opening movement. The mood changes to minor, as the tune is transformed into a spritely medieval dance in the second variation. Finally, a cheerful bicinium rounds out the partita. This suite of dance-like pieces are sure to inspire your Easter congregregations.

Bartók: Rumanian Folk Dances Sz.56 (Complete) -symphonic wind dectet

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Horn,Oboe,Piccolo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1038136 Composed by Bela Bartok. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Classical,Folk. Score and parts. 46 pages. RayThompsonMusic #643066. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.1038136). The complete set arranged wind dectet and bass Romanian Folk Dances Sz. 56, BB 68 is a suite of six short piano pieces composed by Béla Bartók in 1915. He later orchestrated it for small ensemble in 1917 as Sz. 68, BB 76. It is based on seven Romanian tunes from Transylvania, originally played on fiddle or shepherd's flute. The original name for the piece was titled Romanian Folk Dances from Hungary but was later changed by Bartók when Transylvania became part of Romania in 1920. It is nowadays available in the 1971 edition which is written with key signatures although Bartók rarely ever used key signatures. This set of dances consists of six movements and, according to the composer, it should take four minutes and three seconds to perform, but most professional pianists take up to five minutes. The list of the movements is as follows (with the original Hungarian title listed first, the most commonly known Romanian title second, and the English translation in parentheses): Bot tánc / Jocul cu bâtă (Stick Dance)The melody of the first movement, according to Bartók, came from the Mezőszabad (present-day Voiniceni) village that was part of Mezőcsávás (present-day Ceuașu de Câmpie) commune which was located in the Maros-Tordaadministrative county within Transylvania, and he first heard it when two gypsy violinists were playing it. Brâul (Sash Dance)The second movement is a typical dance from Romania called Brâul, for which traditionally a sash or a waistband was used. This melody came from Egres (present-day Igriș), in the Banat region. Topogó / Pe loc (In One Spot)The third dance comes also from Egres (Igriș), but its theme is much darker and its melody recreates Middle Eastern instruments, such as the flute.[4] Bucsumà tánc / Buciumeana (Dance from Bucsum)The fourth dance came from Bucsony, Alsó-Fehér County (today Bucium, Alba county in Romania) Román polka / Poarga Românească (Romanian Polka)The fifth dance is an old Romanian dance similar to the Polka and comes from Belényes (present-day Beiuş, in Bihor county), near the border between Hungary and Romania. Aprózó / Mărunțel (Fast Dance)The sixth and last dance is formed by two different melodies: the first one comes from Belényes (present-day Beiuș) and the second one comes from the then named Nyagra (present-day Neagra) village within the Palotailva (present-day Lunca Bradului) commune. Both on the orchestral version and on the original piano version, the final two dances are performed attacca-without a break between movements.

Romanian Folk Dances Sz.
