Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1102997 Composed by Jeremiah Lawson. Blues,Classical,Rock. Individual part. 7 pages. Jeremiah Lawson #706323. Published by Jeremiah Lawson (A0.1102997). This is a 7-page score for solo guitar in two-movements, both in C minor. The opening sonata-prelude has an exposition, development and recapitulation and uses two themes, both of which use the gesture of a rising second as either core thematic or accompaniment material. There are places indicated in the score where a performer can improvise embellishments or substitutions in the return of Theme 1 in the recapitulation. The fugue is written in three voices with a subject and countersubject. It has two expositions, the first based on the primary form and the second on a somewhat free retrograde form of the initial fugue subject. I use fragmented forms of the subject to create blues and 5/4 episodes after the grand stretto that signals the structural climax of the fugue. This work is pretty difficult but although I wrote it on classical guitar it may also be played on acoustic or electric guitars with whatever timbre modifications strike your fancy.

String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1365113 Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Contemporary. 68 pages. Studio at the Post #879423. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1365113). Parts only (see A879420 for Score). Duration: 18 - 19 min., 5 ensemble parts and 5 solo parts, average 9 pp each. Description: Triptych for String Orchestra sets up three contrasting musical tableaux in as many different genres. Though this approach is often called post-modern, the composer prefers to see it as an indulgence of the many types of music he enjoys. The work opens with a free form improvisatory movement whose sour romanticism comes from its rich chromatic palette. The second movement is in many ways the opposite of the first. It is a very tightly constrained serial work where the parameters of rhythm, inflection, and dynamics, not just pitch, get a full serial workout of permutations. The third and finale movement, then can be seen as a happy medium between the two extremes of the previous movements. It's in the form of an episodic Dionysian romp that alternates between expositions of an ever more shrill theme with puckish episodes of varied quasi-ad lib solos embedded in coloristic texture. There are three movements, Chroma - The Academy - Rock.

Strong ForcesThe work is inspired by the four fundamental forces of nature. These forces explain any phenomena which can be produced in the universe.Throughout all composition, it is latent the mathematic construction based in the series Fibonacci. In the first of the movements, Fibonacci's series is present in the notes' sequence that forms the series of 16 sounds and it is going to be present throughout the whole work. This series is taking form along the movement and it is getting melody and harmony.Although it is far away from the sonata form, as we know it in its period of highest glory, it takes elements of it and updates to our days. In this movement, we can find sonata form elements as the exposition, development, transitions or coda. The central part of the first movement becomes in the slow movement, being more intimate and lyrical, free of the serials ties although it uses resources before cited -now called common practice-.The movement finish with a short re-exposition that concludes with the virtuosic of the soloist doubling the series and adding more tension until conforming the series in its full whole.II. The first one is formed for the introduction and sections one and two.IntroducciónIt is based in one ostinato of three notes where the accent is changing provoking unsymmetric, this ostinato represents the nucleus of our existence. The piccolo and the trombone introduce us to the human element representing the two elements that form the development of the whole movement. The two elements of thematics are taken from the series, the first one is easily recognizable because it appears in his primary form.First section & cadenzaIn this movement, the rhythm, the melody, and the harmony are based on the sequence of Fibonacci. As the theme ostinato of the soloist as the melody is formed under the rhythm of 1, 2, 3 and 5. This section leads us to the second section with a clear mode of cadence. In the cadenza, the elements of the rhythm are varied freely with an accompaniment of the Spring Drum.DevelopmentIt is formed by two Rondo sub-sections in which the solo part has been created through the mirror technique. Both sections have the next form:Intro-A-B-A-B-(B(minor)+A)Intro-A-B-A-B-(B(major)+A)First section & CodaThe movement ends with the repetition of the first section and the final code.

Sonata In C For Organ (Maestoso)

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912496 Composed by By Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score. 9 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #4992619. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912496). The opening movement is composed in a sonata form and consists of three sections: exposition, development and recapitulation. The exposition begins with a stately introduction that consists of pointed rhythms. After the opening theme has been stated, there are two sections that employ canonic imitation of motives at measures 9 to 12 and 21 to 32. The closing theme depicts a bugle passage that is imitative in nature. The development section usually states thematic materials from the exposition section, but it is not always the case in some compositions. Take, for example, the middle section (measures 42 to 83) that contrasts the opening theme in its lyricism; its melody is written in the stepwise manner and is imitated in the pedal part. The recapitulation is a section where the restatement of the main theme and other sections, including the extended version of the bugle theme, recur after concluding the middle section of the sonata form. The piece ends triumphantly in a FFF passage. The work is educational in that it teaches students the sections that make up a sonata form. This piece is suitable for recital use.

Violin Duet Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1395327 Composed by Ulrich Lehensteiner. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary. 75 pages. Ulrich Lehensteiner #978795. Published by Ulrich Lehensteiner (A0.1395327). The Double-Sonata is a trio-setup-piece (two violins and piano) all about duality and contrast. Led by not just one violin but two, the roles of leading voice and accompaniment constantly switch between the three instruments. All three movements feature two strongly contrasting themes and each of the three approaches the themes' development in a unique way.The first movement's tension resolves in a kind of anti-climax, a moment of greatest fragility after the built-up tension, which then returns to a (almost) note-perfect reprise of the exposition, to show that in the end nothing has changed. The second movement even intensifies the struggle between the two themes, with ultimately one of them taking over.In the third movement, an energetic waltz, no effort is even made to unify it's two themes, they just stand block-like against each other.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1509330 By Wayne Shorter. By Wayne Shorter. Arranged by Alberto Mandarini. 20th Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Jazz,Standards. 47 pages. Alm@music #1083972. Published by Alm@music (A0.1509330). Jazz Ensemble / Big Band - Grade 3.5Instrumentation: Full Score; Alto Sax 1; Alto Sax 2; Tenor Sax 1; Tenor Sax 2; Baritone Sax; Trumpet 1; Trumpet 2; Trumpet 3; Trumpet 4; Trombone 1; Trombone 2; Trombone 3; Bass Trombone; Guitar; Piano; Bass; Drums. With the arrangement of Wayne Shorter's Infant Eves, I officially start the series dedicated to the most typical orchestral ensemble in jazz: the Big Band. The instrumentation is the traditional one: 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm section (guitar, piano, double bass and drums). After a brief introduction, in which the double bass moves freely over an orchestral accompaniment, the exposition of the initial part of theme A is entrusted to the first trombone, followed by the saxophone section and then the trumpet section (B).This all flows into the last section of the theme (C), in a robust brass ensemble to which the saxophones respond with simple counterpoint phrases. The last four bars, again entrusted to the saxophones, gradually lead us to the solo section. The latter is developed over a chorus and a half, and each of the soloists is given one of the four sections (A, B, C, A): the first is by the first trombone (the arrangement's main soloist), the second by the first alto saxophone, while the third features the orchestra in a short nine-bar special, where the three sections chase and chase each other. The final solo part is then entrusted to the second trumpet, which gives way to the orchestra for the reprise of the remaining two sections of the theme as well as the inevitable coda.Altogether, the arrangement spans three complete choruses, plus the introduction and coda, for a total duration of just under seven minutes.I hope you enjoy this arrangement and, as always, I wish youGood Music!!!am.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.943186 Composed by Robert Cunningham. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 51 pages. Robert E Cunningham #4350579. Published by Robert E Cunningham (A0.943186). This three-movement Romantic sonata was composed in 1987 and revised in 2016. The idea of sonata-allegro structure, which in a classical sonata would apply to the first movement, is distributed across all three movements of this work: The first two movements serve as exposition, and their thematic materials are then developed and recapitulated in the third movement. In the coda all the themes are woven together in a magnificent contrapuntal tapestry. This sonata is designed to be performed as a whole, but the lyrical second movement is also effective when performed independently.

Piano Trio,String Ensemble Cello,Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938413 Composed by Colin Bayliss. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 59 pages. Colin Bayliss #9995. Published by Colin Bayliss (A0.938413). Piano Trio (B44) was written in the spring of 1991 for David Johnson and the trio which he was forming in Cologne. The work is in three movements:-1. Structures The three instruments build differing structural patterns based on a 12-note row. The violin and 'cello often complement each other, but the piano rarely joins them and tries to pull the music towards a diatonic tonal language, eventually succeeding to end in G major. The movement is in arch form, the second half being based on the retrogrades of the note row. 2. Textures Most forms of sound textures are used, including col legno and sul ponticello for the strings, while the piano occasionally employs soft-headed timpani sticks both on the keyboard and the interior of the instrument. Again the movement is in arch form, with a central section incorporating a miniature scherzo, with a trio section parodying the palm court trio style with a tune of sickly sentimentality. [ This movement may be played separately under the title Einer Kleiner Alptraum - A Little Night... mare] 3. Metamorphoses The notes which will eventually become a Scottish folk tune are hidden either in the repeated notes or in the left hand of the piano, either singly or in harmony. After a neo- classical exposition, using a serial melody, progress is quickly halted by the use of some of the notes of the folk tune being arranged into the theme of Weber's Turandot which was used by Hindemith in his Symphonic Metamorphoses . This pulls the music into a slightly more tonal frame work which becomes more pronounced after a reference to the theme of the slow movement of the Eroica symphony used in Richard Strauss' Metamorphosen. From then onwards, tonality, or rather modality, is established and the folk tune style is maintained with simplicity to the end, except for a miniscule coda reminiscent of the opening of the movement. The sound sample is a performance of the second movement Textures.

Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533630). Piano Concerto (2005) for solo piano and strings was commissioned by Nathaniel Blume andSymphonic Underground. The work was written in celebration of the Mozart Year 2006.Unlike most recent piano concerti, this work is a concerto designed for small performingforces. It sits between typical chamber music and the typical piano concerto. The work was inspired by the various Mozart concerti (such as K. 449) which are oftenperformed with very small string sections. Thus, this concerto may be performed with as fewas single strings on each part, or a larger full string orchestraThe work is cast in one movement, containing two large sections (sub-movements).Structurally, the piece is a highly condensed version of Classical period symphonic form. The first section of the work is an exposition-development/sonata allegro combined with aslow movement. The second section is a combination of a triple-meter scherzo and a rondofinale. The musical material throughout derives tonally from the three notes of a D-major triad (D,F#, and A). Those three pitches serve as transformation centers for the work's material andalso plot the tonal areas of each section. The musical material of the work thus ranges fromhighly Classical melodies (although all original) and textures to more Romantic andmodernist elements that transform out of the initial material.

Sonata for Piano Quintet
Piano Quintet,String Ensemble Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU…

Piano Quintet,String Ensemble Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499301 Composed by James Albert Yeager. 21st Century,Chamber,Contemporary. 99 pages. James A. Yeager #1075356. Published by James A. Yeager (A0.1499301). Foreword:Each movement revisits classic paradigms—sonata form (I), ternary song form (II), and sonata rondo (III). The three movements of this piano quintet share a common element contained in the seed of a motivic idea—the interplay between the minor and the major 3rd : a tonal ambiguity or conflict of the minor 2nd. Stylistically, this Sonata pays modest homage to neo-classicism of 20th Century composers such as Poulenc (I), Prokofiev, Shostakovich (III), and perhaps even a touch of Gershwin (II). I hope this piano quintet will offer players and their audience chamber music that is a bit unusual yet worthwhile. The Sonata embraces the lightheartedness, the melancholy , and the whimsy of nostalgia. There is no separate piano part.Performance Notes:I Moderately fast, expresses dialogues of themes that move between piano and strings. The playfulness of the exposition (repeat is not optional) can give way to a more passionate building of the development to the climax at letter H. In the recapitulation the longer bridge remains steadily in tempo (no accelerando) relaxing just before letter N and theme two. The coda after letter O is a somber premonition of movement two.II Slowly, the bowings are ad libitum. The viola is chantlike and smooth. Violins glissando like the portamento of the Chinese stringed instruments, the Guqin or the Ehru type glissando leading to a very pure quiet long tones without any vibrato and the resulting fourth should be a pure tuning. The piano can use una corda ad libitum in softer passages, and the pedal (damper) ad libitum. In the B section (Letter D) pianist should treat the 64th notes like an ornament (upper mordent). Strings play the eighths after Letter G accents with strong bow changes. At the end, the piano lingers until the sound vanishes after the strings die away.III Introduction: Quick and spirited, the transition (Introduction) is measured and strict without alteration leading to letter A. The rondo theme, ‘A’ section, can slightly intensify in each successive repetition, but not slavishly. The small waltz or ‘B’ section, Letter C, the quartet might play to resemble a reed organ or harmonium—sweet, sonorous, and harmonious. The ‘C’ section, Letter G, big swell on short bridge passage, then pizz. strings become very rustic and like a peasant dance. Pianist can use una corda ad libitum in soft passages. Violins again after Letter I play similarly to non-vibrato of 2nd movement. The ‘B’ section at Letter L is now the grand waltz slightly faster and more indulgent with tiny rubatos tastefully allowed.James Albert Yeager (b.1946)James began his career as organist and choral conductor then harpsichordist and finally, professor of sacred music. As an organ major at The Ohio State University, he studied with Dr. Wilbur Held (B.Mus. 1969). Professor Joseph Goodman mentored him in composition at Union Theological Seminary in New York city (M. Sac. Mus, 1971). At the University of Colorado-Boulder, he returned to the organ, nevertheless, keeping composition as a mainstay (D.M.A. 1985). He was appointed Director of Sacred Music at the Pontifical College Josephinum (Columbus, Ohio) and rose to the rank of Professor (1984-2009). He retired as professor emeritus in 2009 and moved to New Mexico. While residing in Mountainair, New Mexico, he was organist/choral director for 12 years at a major Albuquerque church retiring again in 2021. His most recent compositions include Passacaglia & Fugue for Organ and Chamber Orchestra (2022), a Fugue for Piano and Orchestra (2022), a Sonatina for Flute and Piano (2023), and the Sonata for Piano Quintet (2024) as well as several smaller works for voice and piano.

Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862503). Thirds, seven-note scalar runs, and syncopation characterize this final entry in the series of Modal Inventions. The Locrian mode was not a true church mode. It was given that name by jazz musicians, who wanted a modal designation for each of the seven modes for every major scale. This piece uses cut-time, and a half-note figure as its subject. The countersubject is a scale. Each exposition and its reverse end with a syncopated series of thirds, like the E Major Invention of Bach. These elements mix and match themselves through the piece, which ends on a B7 chord without a 3rd or 5th degree, giving the finale its ambiguous, Locrian sound. All nine inventions make a nice program for the opening of a three-element recital. They also make an excellent introduction into the world of modern music, since the two-part invention format is familiar, and the scalar aspect is also a musical staple throughout the eras, even though the modal derivatives rather than the parent major scales are used. Published by Nicholas White Music (A0.1255178). In his O Salutaris, Nicholas White provides us a very expressive and beautiful Eucharistic motet. This traditional Latin text has been set for SATB choir and organ. The text of the O Salutaris Hostia is taken from the last two verses of Verbum Supernum, one of the five Eucharistic Hymns written by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) at the request of Pope Urban IV (1261-1264) when the Pope first instituted the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264. This beautiful text is most frequently sung in its liturgical contact at Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament or as a Eucharistic motet at Mass. O Salutaris Hostia Quae caeli pandis ostium. Bella premunt hostilia; Da robur, fer auxilium. O Saving Victim opening wide The gate of heaven to all below. Our foes press on from every side; Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria: Qui vitam sine termino, Nobis donet in patria. Amen. To Thy great name be endless praise Immortal Godhead, One in Three; Oh, grant us endless length of days, In our true native land with Thee. Amen. This motet is dedicated to the St. Cecilia Choir of Chicago's historic St. John Cantius Church. The composer, Nicholas White, directed the premiere of his new motet, O Salutaris, on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Latin High Mass at St. John Cantius Church.

Published by Richard St. Clair (A0.939717). This 9-minute motet in which the Buddha-to-be Dharmakara praises His master, Lokeshvaraja Buddha and vows to become the Savior of all Beings (namely, Amida Buddha). The music beings with an extended recitative/aria by solo soprano, and proceeds to the full choral ensemble to its conclusion. The MP3 Audio Clip is a computer-generated soundfile of the entire work. The music is completely tonal and traditional, suitable for good amateur choirs and professional choruses alike.Words from the Larger Sutra on Amida Buddha expounded by Shakyamuni Buddha some 2500 years ago in India.[Setting: Many ages ago, Dharmakara Bhikshu (in his stage before becoming Amida Buddha) declares to his Master, Buddha Lokeshvararaja, his intention to create a Pure Land wherein all suffering beings can be saved.]Text (slightly abridged):Then appeared a Buddha named Lokeshvararaja, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened One, Possessed of Wisdom and Practice, Perfected One, Knower of the World, Unsurpassed One, Tamer of Men, Master of Gods and Men, Buddha and World-Honored One.At that time there was a king, who, having heard the Buddha's exposition of the Dharma, rejoiced in his heart and awakened aspiration for the highest, perfect Enlightenment. He renounced his kingdom and the throne, and became a monk named Dharmakara. Having superior intelligence, courage and wisdom, he distinguished himself in the world. He went to see the Tathagata Lokeshvararaja, knelt down at his feet, walked round him three times keeping him always on his right, prostrated himself on the ground, and putting his palms together in worship, praised the Buddha with these verses:The shining face of the Buddha is glorious;Boundless is his magnificence.Radiant splendor such as hisIs beyond all comparison. The sun, the moon and the mani-jewel,Though shining with dazzling brightness,Are completely dimmed and obscuredAs if they were a pile of ink-sticksThe countenance of the TathagataIs beyond compare in the whole world. The great voice of the Enlightened OneResounds throughout the ten regions. His morality, learning, endeavor,Absorption in meditation, wisdomAnd magnificent virtues have no equal; They are wonderful and unsurpassed.I resolve to become a Buddha,Equal in attainment to you, O holy king of the Dharma,To save living beings from birth-and-death,And to lead them all to emancipation.I vow that, when I have become a Buddha,I shall carry out this promise everywhere; And to all fear-ridden beingsShall I give great peace.Even though there are Buddhas,A thousand million kotis in number,And multiudes of great sagesCountless as the sands of the Ganges,I shall make offeringsTo all those Buddhas.I shall seek the supreme WayResolutely and tirelessly.Even though the Buddha-lands are as innumerableAs the sands of the Ganges,And other regions and worldsAre also without number,My light shall shine everywhere,Pervading all those lands.Such being the result of my efforts,My glorious power shall be immeasurable. When I have become a Buddha,My land shall be most exquisite,And its people wonderful and unexcelled; The seat of Enlightenment shall be supreme. My land, being like Nirvana itself,Shall be beyond comparison.I take pity on living beingsAnd resolve to save them all. Those who come from the ten quartersShall find joy and serenity of heart; When they reach my land,They shall dwell in peace and happiness.I beg you, the Buddha, to become my witnessAnd to vouch for the truth of my aspiration.Having now made my vows to you,I will strive to fulfilll them. The World-Honored Ones in the ten quartersHave unimpeded wisdom;I call upon those Honored OnesTo bear witness to my intention.Even though I mu.

Published by Pete Strohm Music (A0.928161). Sonata No. 3 for Trombone and Piano was written for American trombonist Mark Lawrence. It is tonal throughout, in three movements. The work is demanding in both technique and ensemble, but should be truly enjoyable to play and hear. The first movement, marked Moderato giocoso, is in sonata form in the key of G. The exposition is played muted, moving abruptly into a driving and open development, centered in D minor. The recap starts open, then re-employs the mute for a quiet close. The second movement is a beautiful, flowing song Lento con espressione, in D-flat major. It shifts to C# minor for a muted mid-section, then returns to the open horn in D-flat major to close. Â The third movement is marked Allegro gioioso. Â It is a driving 2/4, based around C Major, and briefly muted in the middle. Difficulty level for both instruments is medium-advanced. Total performance time is 15:30. Â Member, ASCAP.Â

Starting from James Pierpont’s classic holiday song, this piece is a irreverental set of five variations which present the well-known in several unusual contexts: an exotic dance in a South American style, a Yiddish Waltz, a burlesque number which features a quartet of soloists. After a much more tame “Chorale-Préludeâ€, the fughetta on the verse (“Dashing Through the Snowâ€) leads to a finial exposition of the theme in a Toccata style. Large Ensemble Bass Drum,Drums,Marimba,Multi-Percussion,Snare Drum,Vibraphone,Xylophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.935386 Composed by Dan Heslink. Contemporary. Score and parts. 46 pages. Pharaoh Publications #6058011. Published by Pharaoh Publications (A0.935386). Sinfonietta composed by Dan Heslink Sinfonietta is a trio for vibraphone, marimba and percussion (xylophone, snare drum, and bass drum). Its expression is intended to be non-representational, presenting only an interesting technical construction in a suave formal organization. With the title the composer designates a single movement, with length and seriousness of expression approaching a symphonic movement. Its form approximates an expanded version of the classical sonata-allegro, dividing materials into three large sections. Beginning are the two main phrases of the principal theme, which establish patterns that are idiomatic throughout the movement. The first measure’s quartal harmonies divide into rhythms alternating the two hands, the right-hand posing a melody and the left-hand complementing it with harmony and rhythmic repetition. The phrase at measure 7 is a long-breathed melody for vibes accompanied by undulating chords in the marimba. A transition comprising highly qualitative rhythms (stated first by the marimba in m. 20.) has much identity. By measure 41, the transition has grown into a full secondary theme, one that is developed and repeated often throughout the movement. The exposition closes with a theme beginning in measure 51. It is announced by the vibes as another long-breathed melody unfolding over the active rhythm of the second theme. After a gradual dissipation, the development section starts at measure 92 with a new but related theme, heard first in the vibes. It offers a different key and an expressive melody slowly unfolding over rhythmically active harmonies. The remainder of this middle section explores nuances of the secondary and closing themes, and ultimately leads to the movement’s first climax. It eventually dissipates through a gradual reduction of density and tempo. The Reprise begins vigorously at m. 118 with statements of both the principal theme’s phrases. Then the second theme is transformed by the addition of bass drum strokes, which sets up a codetta. This section comprises a long crescendo on the new theme over a rhythmic tattoo derived from the second theme, and builds to a bold conclusion. Pedaling on the vibes is indicated with a solid bracket below the connected notes, and half pedaling with a dashed bracket. It is imperative that the percussion part be heard but not dominate. The performer is encouraged to experiment with a piccolo snare drum and 28 bass drum. Sinfonietta would serve equally well in a professional, college or advanced high school percussion recital. The composer assigns a difficulty level of medium difficult. Duration is 8:10. The composer, Dan Heslink, can be contacted at dan@dheslink.com.
