Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1498151 Composed by Traditional Armenian. Arranged by Constance Shelengian. Folk,Multicultural,Traditional,Wedding,World. Score. 6 pages. Constance Shelengian #1074461. Published by Constance Shelengian (A0.1498151). For Solo Piano with Guitar chord diagrams.Traditional dances in ancient Armenia were essential to celebrations, holidays, rituals, social gatherings and more. This medley of Western Armenian music in 10/8 is drawn from the Anatolian song-dance tradition and perpetuated in America. In Sirahar Yem (“I'm In Love”), the Left Hand reinforces the stressed beats within the rhythmic pattern, emphasizing beats 1, 4, and 6. Beats are grouped as 3 2 2 3. Initially, this may be a challenge to play but well worth the effort to expand one’s musicianship skills! While harmony is sparingly interspersed in the inner parts, or created in intervals of 3rds and 6ths, traditionally, the ceremonial/wedding melodies Candle Dance and Hars Oo Pesa (“Bride and Groom”) are monophonic. Due to the mountainous terrain in historic Armenia and challenge of travel between villages, these two dances exist with different melodies, depending on the region. The dance steps also vary by village. In contrast, the use of a sustained note (drone) in the bass clef alters the spirit in Hars Oo Pesa where the key also changes to D major. Whereas the piano has limitations in replicating microtones of folk wind instruments such as the zurna used in an authentic Armenian village wedding, the aim in this arrangement is rather to preserve the spirit of the melody and actively engage the amateur pianist. For more information on Armenian music, refer to : Kazarian, Hachig. (2023) Western Armenian Music: From Asia Minor to the United States. The Press: California State University, Fresno.

This arrangement of "The Mexican Hat Dance" is as played by the legendary pianist, Liberace. It has all of the signature runs and embellishments as played by Liberace. Now you can play this traditional Mexican folk song in the same fantastic style!<br> <br> The Jarabe tapatío, often referred to as the Mexican hat dance, is the national dance of Mexico. It originated as a courtship dance in Guadalajara, Jalisco, during the 19th century, although its elements can be traced back to the Spanish zambra and jarabe gitano, which were popular during the times of the viceroyalty. Female dancers traditionally wear a china poblana outfit, while the male dancers dress as charros. The standard music of the jarabe tapatío was composed by Jesús González Rubio in the 19th century

Published by Anastas Mihaylov (A0.997091). Horo is the general name for the traditional Bulgarian dances. The presented Dospatsko horo is a traditional dance from the South Bulgaria. There are not many arrangements of traditional Balkan music for guitar. This one is for finger style playing, level of difficulty- intermediate. The melody should be played clearly as well as the base. Be careful with the middle voices. The time signature is 7/8- a triple time witch first beat is longer than the next two. It works well for concert performance as well as for fun. Notes and tabs included.

Small Ensemble Drums,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802633 Composed by James Johnston Stewart and John Godfrey. Arranged by Thomas Bidgood & Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 22 pages. Peet du Toit #6072097. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802633). A barn dance is any kind of dance involving traditional or folk music with traditional dancing, occasionally held in a barn, but, these days, much more likely to be in any suitable building. The term barn dance is usually associated with family-oriented or community-oriented events, usually for people who do not normally dance. The caller will, therefore, generally use easy dances so that everyone can join in.A barn dance can be a ceilidh (gathering), with traditional Irish or Scottish dancing, and people unfamiliar with either format often confuse the two terms. However, a barn dancecan also feature square dancing, contra dancing, English country dance, dancing to country and western music, or any other kind of dancing, often with a live band and a caller. Modern western square dance is often confused with barn dancing in Britain.Barn dances, as social dances, were popular in Ireland until the 1950s, and were typically danced to tunes with 44 rhythms. This one is dedicated to my one brother-in-law, Ken Bain, a Scott. He is a great person with a beautiful voice and even a more beautiful heart. Congrats on your wee birthday, Heavy, and may you have many more Scottish barn dances!

7.40pm, Traditional Klezmer tune for Flute and Clarinet Duet

(+)
Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Folk, Israeli, Klezmer, Hanukkah, Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Score. 6 pages. Published by David McKeown
7.40pm is a traditional Russian Jewish tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Flute and one Clarinet.<br> <br> It isn’t completely clear where the title 7.40pm comes from. One interpretation is that 7.40pm was the time the Odessa tram conductors finished work and danced to this tune. But there are versions titled 7.40am which may refer to the time of Jewish early morning prayers. Whatever the origin, there are several Russian recordings of 7.40pm that predate the 1917 revolution.<br> <br> 7.40pm is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a slow and expressively beginning, the melody switches to dance tempo. 7.40pm is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of a little over three minutes, this version of 7.40pm is perfect for recital and concert performances, both formal and informal. Click the link above to listen to a full Youtube performance of the Clarinet version of this duet.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1518635 Composed by Alan Edgar. Romantic Period. 18 pages. Alan Edgar Ted Moon #1092735. Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1518635). WITCHES’ FIREDANCE at BELTANE String quartet. Beltane continues to be observed throughout Ireland and Scotland. The Beltane celebrations on the Hill of Uisneach in Ireland and the Edinburgh Fire Festival are long-standing and beloved. These days, Beltane has been embraced by modern witches and mystics as a celebration of the energies of Spring. You can probably find a Spring festival with a maypole and a bonfire near you. Witches celebrate Beltane on May 1st as the height of Spring. They give thanks for the fertility of our planet and the ability of the Earth to renew herself. They revel in the new growth and general fecundity of the season. As co-creators with the Universe, witches also like to tap into the energy of Spring to help them bring new life into their own endeavours. They have a maypole and a bonfire. They celebrate the sexual union of Mother Earth and Green Man. The maypole is a symbol of masculine energy which is then joyfully embraced by colourful ribbons, symbolic of the beautiful abundance and diversity of our living world.Beltane is a pagan Celtic festval, but as is their wont, the Roman Catholic Church has modified it: into May Day, with participation of priests. Even the maypole upset many Christians. The sections of the piece are: Introduction to the witches theme, Witches fly in, Witches dance round the bonfire, Maypole dance, Witches inspect the finished maypole and disperse. The witches have a ground bass. I hint at their suspected spiritual allegiance to the Devil by including an occasional diabolus in musica. The Maypole Dance tune is English seventeenth C traditional.DURATION: 4 minutes.INSTRUMENTATION: String Quartet.

Its diversity reflects the small regional and cultural spaces of Switzerland. Influences from other European countries have also shaped this kind of music since the early 19th century. Polka and Mazurka have their roots in Poland, the Scottish in Scotland. The music has been passed on by word of mouth or has been written down in musicians’ notebooks.Between 1940 and 1960, the ethnomusicologist Hanny Christen travelled through Switzerland and collected thousands of melodies from the period between 1800 and 1960. The musicians played or sang in front of her. Some permitted her to write off their own hand-written dance booklets in full. In 1956, Hanny Christen began to record this music with a tape recorder. It is thanks to her that over 12,000 instrumental dance movements of Switzerland and many other pieces of tradition (costumes, biographies, musical instruments etc.) were saved from being forgotten. The instruments used in traditional folk music vary depending on the type of dance and region. Flutes are more or less non-existent. The author would like to fill a gap with this publication. She has therefore adapted one folk dance per canton from the Hanny Christen-collection* for two flutes. The pieces from the cantons of Basel City, Thurgau and Geneva do not come from this source, though. The melodies from the other 23 cantons are taken unchanged from the collection. The second voice was not always composed quite traditional. The melody follows - if possible - a contrapuntal melody of its own and is directed to the flute (difficulty grade 3 +).The editor, Helene Schulthess, is a flutist with a wide repertoire. She lives in Switzerland. She performs as a soloist, makes chamber music and is active as a music teacher. She is involved in various musical projects (www.helene-schulthess.ch).* Swiss Folk Music Collection. The dance music of Switzerland of the 19th and first half of the 20th century. From the estate of Hanny Christen. Edited by Fabian Müller under the auspices of the Society for Folk Music in Switzerland (GVS/SMPS). Music print. Mülirad, Zürich 2002.
