Piano,Vocal,Voice - Digital Download SKU: A0.529573 Composed by Robert J. Sherman. Arranged by Original Piano/Vocal Arrangement by Robert J. Sherman. Broadway,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Musical/Show. Score. 8 pages. Sherman Theatrical Entertainment Ltd. #117901. Published by Sherman Theatrical Entertainment Ltd. (A0.529573). We Will Live To Be Free is from the musical Bumblescratch. Early in Act II, “Squabbler†becomes Melbourne’s fiercely loyal, if not obsessive follower. So when he witnesses Melbourne succumbing to the trap of temptation laid out by the former King Rat “Socratesâ€, Squabbler becomes disillusioned. He wants nothing more to do with Melbourne or, what he believes is his phony movement. This song is Squabbler’s “graduation day,†the moment he realizes that he no longer needs to follow Melbourne's or anyone else’s rules. By the end of the song, Melbourne is left with no one willing to listen to him. When printing, please scale to fit for standard US Letter and A4 size.

SATB choir and Piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.1.3610-E Composed by Kyle Pederson. African American Heritage. Instrument part. 22 pages. Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital #1.3610-E. Published by Galaxy Music Corporation - Digital (MQ.1.3610-E). English. From the arranger, Kyle Pederson To me, spirituals are the most powerful type of music. Spirituals were birthed and rooted in the experience of chattel slavery in the United States—and arose out of, as Arthur C. Jones asserts, “deeply meaningful, archetypically human experiences, relevant not only to the specific circumstances of slavery but also to women and men struggling with issues of justice, freedom, and spiritual wholeness in all times and places.†The original text of Soon Ah Will Be Done is as follows: Soon ah will be done with the troubles of the world (repeat) Goin’ home to live with God No more weeping and a-wailing (repeat) Goin’ home to live with God I want t’ meet my mother (repeat) Goin’ home to live with God I want t’ meet my Jesus (repeat) Goin’ home to live with God When I sang this spiritual growing up, I was struck by both the withering sorrow and expectant hope throughout. The melody and emotion has stuck with me since. When approaching my own arrangement, I hoped to honor the voice of the original writers and their experience of slavery, and I also sought to extend a voice to people today who are suffering from oppression and discrimination. I hoped an appropriate way to honor the experience of the original writers might be to invite the contemporary listener to envision and commit to a better, more just world today—a world of inclusion, radical kindness, compassion, love, and grace—a world where we have the courage to champion the inherent dignity and value of all people, a world where we will be done with all the ways we deny a person’s worth. A world where “heaven has come to earth.†In this arrangement, spoken word is incorporated throughout, intended to heighten the intensity of the performance, and meant to give a sense of immediacy to the challenge for the choir and audience to work together for justice, equity, and wholeness. Spoken word has often been used as the language of protest—and I include it intentionally as a way of giving voice to the choir members (and listener)—where all can stand in solidarity against oppression and injustice. If desired, choir members are encouraged to write their own spoken word text that speaks to issues of inequity and injustice in their own communities. I am writing this program note not long after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, MN, on May 25, 2020. As a Minneapolis area resident for the past 25 years, I want to take a more active role in working towards justice in my community. All proceeds received from the sale and performance of Soon We Will Be Done will be directed to ISAIAH—a multi-racial, state-wide, nonpartisan coalition of faith communities fighting for racial and economic justice in Minnesota. You can read more about the phenomenal work ISAIAH is doing at isaiahmn.org.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926665 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 13 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588435. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926665). In the first chapter of Paul’s second letter to Timothy, verses 1-10, we observe the intimate relationship that exists, between a spiritual father and his son… I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. In Chapter two we also witness Paul’s commissioning Timothy to entrust to faithful men all that he was taught by the Apostle, that they then may be able to teach others in the same way also. While the elder Paul is now in prison and bound in chains, he is nonetheless empowered by the Holy Spirit to encourage and exhort Timothy to share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ, for the sake of the Gospel. Though Paul is bound in chains, he declares to Timothy the word of God is not bound! Endurance for Paul serves only one purpose, the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. In verse 11, Paul supports his statements by inserting another known 1st century Hymn to Christ, which brings us to our fifth anthem, For If We Died with Him. The text-or lyrics-of this hymn are even bracketed (or indented) in the NKJV Bible, suggesting the hymnic setting. The proposition of the text is quite clear; if we died with Christ, then we shall also live eternally with Christ. If we endure in the faith, then we shall also reign eternally with Christ. However, there is an insertion of 'Law' here, with a dire warning that the opposite is also true: If we deny Christ, resist, and refuse His beckoning and free invitation to salvation, then He will also deny us. Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven… I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:31-23). Thus, the stage has been set for the fifth anthem. The piece is composed for SATB a cappella. The key is F Major. The opening phrase, This is a trustworthy saying, is in ¾ time, where a series of triplets are sung three times each (the Trinitarian opening motif). The meter then shifts to 2/4 with a lovely, distinctive unison melody for the opening phrase, For if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. Soon after, when the lyrics shift to the words, If we deny Him, He will also deny us, the song drops into the relative minor key (F minor). The melody in this passage is haunting, and sends a clear warning signal to the listener to pay heed to what is being sung. When the text then transitions from if we are faithless, He remains faithful, however, the key shifts back to F Major in a new (dance-like) rhythm for the final verse, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. A coda is inserted in the final phrase where the triplet pattern is recapitulated (This is a trustworthy saying) and the sopranos ascend to a high F singing the lyrics, we shall live, for He remains faithful! to triumphantly end the piece.

Satb & piano - Grade 3 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBS176V Composed by Arthur J. Michaels. Score and Parts. 27 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS176V. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS176V). 9 x 12 in inches. We the People of the United States lets singers and instrumentalists sing and play their hearts out. It's an excellent choice for any program in which directors want to feature a chorus with a concert band. This inspiring piece also makes an excellent spring concert or festival closer, worthy of becoming a music festival's traditional final work with combined instrumental and choral groups. This piece features three sections:I. We the People of the United StatesThis first section is a dignified presentation of the Preamble to the Constitution.II. Amendment IThe second section is the First Amendment to the Constitution. It begins playfully and festively, reflecting the joyful intent of enacting and living by the Constitution's First Amendment freedoms. The section becomes somber and contemplative, though, suggesting the struggles, pain and sacrifices we've endured, and are still enduring, as we continue to interpret this amendment and live by its words. The section's end recalls the joyful, pleasant aspects of living by the First Amendment.III. The Gettysburg AddressThe text of the first and second sections is the cornerstone of how we live and the values we profess. This third section, the first paragraph of Abraham Lincoln's stirring speech, reminds us of our hopes for our country and way of life.Audiences will be standing and cheering at this work's moving finish. The enduring truths of the text, our reverence for these words, and our vigorous aspirations to interpret them make this stirring piece an everlasting program choice and a delight for performers and audiences.

Electric Violin,Instrumental Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845977 By The Khromatiks. By Kayleigh Moyer, Kyle Pudenz, and The Khromatiks. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Latin. Individual part. 10 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #5375599. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.845977). This is a loop station composition for electric violin that I composed for my live-looping duo, The Khromatiks, in 2013. Doing my part to increase the available repertoire for extended range violins out here on the internet!I originally recorded this tune on a 7-string electric violin with a Boss RC-30 loop station. That being said, there are plenty of other gear configurations that will work. Any phrase looper/sampler that is capable of playing 2 separate tracks or sections with overdubs will be able to handle this structure, such as the Singular Sound Aeros, Boomerang III, Ableton Live with a MIDI controller, etc. If you don't play 7-string, a 5-string can also play this chart as written if you use an octave pedal to record the low bass lines. A standard 4-string can also work, although some phrases will have to be transposed 8va.A little about this tune: the head melody is a basic lydian dominant motif that gets displaced forwards or backwards by a sixteenth note on each iteration. In Nashville Number System, we call this sort of syncopation a push, which inspired the title. This idea transitions into a B solo section with a latin songo groove. This is a great tune for practicing tight rhythmic syncopation, or for developing solo ideas on modal scales! With The Khromatiks this piece was performed as a duo with violin & drums/percussion, but also works as a violin solo. If you have a looper capable of syncing to a click track, you could also try adding bass (plays the bottom line of loop 2 only) or guitar/keyboards (read the chord symbols as a lead-sheet). The sky is the limit, feel free to get creative with it!Please, if you have questions or suggestions, feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/, or on Instagram @theviolinvagabond

Ungaresca & Almande Poussinghe (Recueil de Danseries, 1583)
String Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1041170 Composed by Pierre Pha…
(+)
String Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1041170 Composed by Pierre Phalèse Jnr. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Renaissance. Score and parts. 18 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #645901. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1041170). These two dances are taken from a collection entitled Recueil de danseries, contenant presque toutes sortes de danses (“Collection of dances, containing almost every kind of dancesâ€) published in Antwerp in 1583 by Pierre Phalèse Jnr (c.1545-1629). He was continuing the work of his father Pierre Phalèse the Elder (1510-1575) the most important publisher in the Low Countries during the 16th century. The piece known as Ungaresca evokes the atmosphere of street music rather than that of the court and the drone accompaniment that Phalèse provides suggests the sound of the peasant bagpipes. As the name implies, the dance came from Hungary though it may have simply been a dance in the Hungarian style. Even so, the melody was tremendously popular during the fifteenth century though the author is unknown. The dance calls for a lively performance, and you can use plenty of percussion to enliven it. This music was meant for dancing and entertainment and musicians would often combine several dances to make a more substantial piece. In this arrangement, the rather wild Ungaresca is paired with the stately Almande Poussinghe. The music would have been played by any instruments that happened to be available. The dances still retain their freshness and charm today and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. This arrangement is for virtually any string ensemble and the single PDF file includes a full score and parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello and bass (combined), keyboard and simple percussion. Two additional melody part are provided in the treble and bass clefs and the chords (for optional guitar) are shown in both keyboard and cello-bass parts. In the spirit of the original publication, you can add to the melody line any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. Even the additional of a couple of recorders will enhance the sound. Alternatively, you can do opposite and create a pleasing contrast by omitting various instruments for certain sections. The audio demo will give you an idea how this might be achieved. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible, the keyboard player should feel free to improvise around the part and the chords shown. A digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic than a piano. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The optional percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, antique (finger) cymbals, wood-blocks and tambourine. Two or three players can be used (but feel free to add more) and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

This edition: study score. Music Of Our Time. Downloadable, Study score. Duration 100' 0. Schott Music - Digital #Q7038. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7038). Latin • German. On letting go(Concerning the selection of the texts) In the selection of the texts, I have allowed myself to be motivated and inspired by the concept of “letting goâ€. This appears to me to be one of the essential aspects of dying, but also of life itself. We humans cling far too strongly to successful achievements, whether they have to do with material or ideal values, or relationships of all kinds. We cannot and do not want to let go, almost as if our life depended on it. As we will have to practise the art of letting go at the latest during our hour of death, perhaps we could already make a start on this while we are still alive. Tagore describes this farewell with very simple but strikingly vivid imagery: “I will return the key of my doorâ€. I have set this text for tenor solo. Here I imagine, and have correspondingly noted in a certain passage of the score, that the protagonist finds himself as though “in an ocean†of voices in which he is however not drowning, but immersing himself in complete relaxation. The phenomenon of letting go is described even more simply and tersely in Psalm 90, verse 12: “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdomâ€. This cannot be expressed more plainly.I have begun the requiem with a solo boy’s voice singing the beginning of this psalm on a single note, the note A. This in effect says it all. The work comes full circle at the culmination with a repeat of the psalm which subsequently leads into a resplendent “lux aeternaâ€. The intermediate texts of the Requiem which highlight the phenomenon of letting go in the widest spectrum of colours originate on the one hand from the Latin liturgy of the Messa da Requiem (In Paradisum, Libera me, Requiem aeternam, Mors stupebit) and on the other hand from poems by Joseph von Eichendorff, Hermann Hesse, Rabindranath Tagore and Rainer Maria Rilke. All texts have a distinctive positive element in common and view death as being an organic process within the great system of the universe, for example when Hermann Hesse writes: “Entreiß dich, Seele, nun der Zeit, entreiß dich deinen Sorgen und mache dich zum Flug bereit in den ersehnten Morgen†[“Tear yourself way , o soul, from time, tear yourself away from your sorrows and prepare yourself to fly away into the long-awaited morningâ€] and later: “Und die Seele unbewacht will in freien Flügen schweben, um im Zauberkreis der Nacht tief und tausendfach zu leben†[“And the unfettered soul strives to soar in free flight to live in the magic sphere of the night, deep and thousandfoldâ€]. Or Joseph von Eichendorff whose text evokes a distant song in his lines: “Und meine Seele spannte weit ihre Flügel aus. Flog durch die stillen Lande, als flöge sie nach Haus†[“And my soul spread its wings wide. Flew through the still country as if homeward bound.â€]Here a strong romantically tinged occidental resonance can be detected which is however also accompanied by a universal spirit going far beyond all cultures and religions. In the beginning was the sound Long before any sort of word or meaningful phrase was uttered by vocal chords, sounds, vibrations and tones already existed. This brings us back to the music. Both during my years of study and at subsequent periods, I had been an active participant in the world of contemporary music, both as percussionist and also as conductor and composer. My early scores had a somewhat adventurous appearance, filled with an abundance of small black dots: no rhythm could be too complicated, no register too extreme and no harmony too dissonant. I devoted myself intensely to the handling of different parameters which in serial music coexist in total equality: I also studied aleatory principles and so-called minimal music.I subsequently emigrated and took up residence in Spain from where I embarked on numerous travels over the years to India, Africa and South America. I spent repeated periods during this time as a resident in non-European countries. This meant that the currents of contemporary music swept past me vaguely and at a great distance. What I instead absorbed during this period were other completely new cultures in which I attempted to immerse myself as intensively as possible.I learned foreign languages and came into contact with musicians of all classes and styles who had a different cultural heritage than my own: I was intoxicated with the diversity of artistic potential.Nevertheless, the further I distanced myself from my own Western musical heritage, the more this returned insistently in my consciousness. The scene can be imagined of sitting somewhere in the middle of the Brazilian jungle surrounded by the wailing of Indians and out of the blue being provided with the opportunity to hear Beethoven’s late string quartets: this can be a heart-wrenching experience, akin to an identity crisis. This type of experience can also be described as cathartic. Whatever the circumstances, my “renewed†occupation with the “old†country would not permit me to return to the point at which I as an audacious young student had maltreated the musical parameters of so-called contemporary music. A completely different approach would be necessary: an extremely careful approach, inching my way gradually back into the Western world: an approach which would welcome tradition back into the fold, attempt to unfurl the petals and gently infuse this tradition with a breath of contemporary life.Although I am aware that I will not unleash a revolution or scandal with this approach, I am nevertheless confident as, with the musical vocabulary of this Requiem, I am travelling in an orbit in which no ballast or complex structures will be transported or intimated: on the contrary, I have attempted to form the message of the texts in music with the naivety of a “homecomerâ€. SATB chorus - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1406 Composed by Sofia Söderberg. Christian. Octavo. 8 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1406. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1406). 8.27 x 11.7 inches.Music based on Gregorian themes. In the autumn of 2015, Malmo Live Vokalensemble performed Thierry Machuel's Paroles contre l'oubli - words against oblivion. In a large-scale art project, prisoners serving a life sentence at the Clairvaux high-security prison in north-eastern France were interviewed by the composer, who set their stories to music. The piece is incredibly dark, coloured by the innermost thoughts of individuals who know they will never again be free, people who are slipping into oblivion. Clairvaux wasn't always a prison, though - it was formerly an important monastery. Established by St. Bernhard in 1115 and closed in connection with the French Revolution, Clairvaux is a mythic place. For some, it is an abbey where thousands of monks voluntarily chose the path of saints, plunging themselves into the blessed silence of darkness. For others, it is a prison, the sheer name of which inspires terror and generates horrific images. My intention was that we, with our concert, would create a bridge between the present and the past, between incarceration and voluntary solitude. So I sought out the historical sources for our earliest notated music, from the French abbey of Solemn, and composed a variety of versions based on Gregorian themes. Kyrie and Agnus Dei are two of them. - Sofia Soderberg.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1203048 By Isadar. By Isadar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,New Age. Score. 7 pages. Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) #801732. Published by Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) (A0.1203048). Contains:Numb - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, The Purple Heart (improvisational solo piano) (available soon on SMP) Sounds like: Keith Jarrett's Köln Concert, Bill Evans, Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artists Transcribed by:  David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording Album & Songbook review by:  Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com):The Purple Heart is Isadar’s solo piano tribute and memorial to the people who lost their lives in the 9/11/01 tragedy. Recorded as a 56-minute improvisation on 12/25/02, the music is thoughtful, somber, and quite elegant. There are actually thirteen pieces on the CD, but they segue into each other, making it difficult to tell where one song ends and another begins. This is very definitely NOT a problem, as the album unfolds naturally and organically, asking questions, looking inward, and expressing shock and grief. However, this is not music about only despair or rage. I also hear hope and determination as well as quiet reverence - the strange mix of emotions we all felt during those dark days. Titles include From Cradle to Coffin, Bravery, Numb, New York Skyline, and Truth. Isadar has a wonderful way of wearing his heart on his musical sleeve, pouring deep emotion and heartfelt expression into his music. The music was recorded in one take, but rather than meandering all over the place, Isadar used recurring themes that make the work cohesive and consistent enough to hold together even after many listens. This is a very strong and passionate work, but it was recorded with a rather quiet voice which allows it to be very comfortable and soothing background music as well as evocative solo piano music for concentrated and focused listening. The Purple Heart Sheet Music Collection is a note-for-note solo piano transcription of Isadar’s 2003 memorial CD by the same name (transcribed by David Shenton). The recording and book are a tribute to those who died in the attacks of 9/11/2001. The music was recorded in one take and although there are thirteen titles, the pieces segue into each other, creating a seamless 56-minute improvisation. The book indicates where the various pieces begin and end, but can also be played as one long piece. Although the theme of the music is very somber and bleak, the music covers the broad range of emotions we all felt during that period - anger, sadness, hope, determination, resolve, fear, grief, etc. Although the recording is an improvisation, Isadar incorporates a recurring theme that holds the work together as a single entity. Some pieces are very slow while others are lively and even fast. All thirteen pieces are in C minor/Eb major, but the variety of moods and tempos keep the music evolving without becoming repetitious. When the recurring theme pops up, it’s like seeing an old friend! The difficulty in playing someone’s improvisation is that the creation of the music was spontaneous and free-flowing. It isn’t easy to read an improvisation and give the music that quality of freedom. Less advanced pianists might find this frustrating. The time signatures change frequently, but a competent pianist will have no trouble with that. As I was playing this book, I sensed that I was looking directly into Isadar’s heart and feeling what he was feeling as the music was being born - a very powerful experience! Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, featuring today's biggest names in solo piano music.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.992361 Composed by Tim Fatchen. Celtic,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 15 pages. Flying Tadpole Productions #6210807. Published by Flying Tadpole Productions (A0.992361). ALT.CALLAHANS REEL(which is actually a Slide, with a Reel interlude!) Fast and lively foot-tapping neo-Celtic, at its best on electronic keyboard but also a fun piano solo. (Duration 8+ minutes) Reel Jiggery-pokery The song started as a jig but drank too much and reeled into 12/8 time. Properly speaking, despite its strong 4-beat pulse, it's a Slide. Or perhaps a Double Jig. Except for the mid-section, which is really a Reel! Needless to say, this is not for the purists...but it's huge fun for the rest of us! Playing and Performing We've marked it Advanced Intermediate. It's the indicated speed which makes demands! But you can play it slower and enjoy! On electronic or MIDI keyboard, use a percussive/plucked foundation (e.g. piano, harp, faux guitar) with a sustained string patch (string ensemble, synth strings, viola works well, fiddle works well, most violin patches are terrible!). For piano, you'll have to use more of the sustain pedal but not too much or it'll go all muddy on you, just like a mis-step in an Irish bog! (Original live and YouTube performances were on a Medeli MC 710, from 2005. This keyboard allowed splitting and dual voices. Piano was used as foundation both above and below the split point. A loud viola patch was used as the second voice on the upper part of the keyboard, as the dominant fiddle sound carrying the melody. A synth string patch was used as second voice on the lower half, giving the drones.) Add Your Own Salt and Pepper to the Score! The song is scored for clarity, not as a detailed demand for every possible nuance. It's fast, so although simple to look at when not playing, you'll need to be reading the music at speed. Unless, of course, you're blessed with a brilliant memory! So the score isn't cluttered with ornaments and fiddly bits, or lots of expression marks. Especially, it's not cluttered by a lot of suspended notes. BUT...you will need to suspend a lot of notes as you play. Think drones running all over the place and use your keyboard sustaining string patches to bring those drones out! Listen to the live recordings, they'll help. You, as player, have lots of freedom! It's up to you how many additional frills, or emphasis, or drone suspensions you throw in. Why alt.callahans? In the far distant past of 2005, there was an Internet newsgroup of that name, in honor and emulation of Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, a fictional bar with strongly community-minded and empathic clientele, part of the fictional universe of American writer Spider Robinson. [Wikipedia] A place for tall tales and true, comradeship, puns both good and bad. We had fun there, and this song came out of it. The Internet world, sadly, has changed since.

String Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1036189 Composed by Pierre Phalèse. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Renaissance. Score and parts. 17 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #641293. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1036189). Unlike country dances, the formal dances of royal courts in the sixteenth century required a good deal of study and practice. Many dancing masters published self-help instructional books, especially in France and Italy. These music books were usually arranged with four independent instrumental parts and intended for use by any instruments that happened to be available. The two dances in this arrangement (Premier Bransle de la Guerre and the lively Les Bouffons) were well known popular melodies at the time of publication. They still retain their freshness and charm today and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. While you can add flute, recorder, oboe, glockenspiel or whatever you want, additional instruments are not essential but can add contrasting tone colour.

Published by Freeland Publications (A0.1069664). Duration: 14'52 (1989). Computer-driven Yamaha Disklavier performance. One of my more famous pieces. Its historic premiere at Pacifica Radio (KPFA) in Berkeley on 4 October, 1991 to inaugurate their new facility is included in Nicolas Slonimsky's book Music Since 1900. It has been reviewed and written about extensively. Here is what some reviewers have said:4 OCTOBER 1991: KPFA radio in Berkeley, California, dedicates its newly constructed, two-story broadcast facility at 1929 Martin Luther King Jr. Way with a live satellite broadcast … works on the inaugual program, produced and narrated by KPFA Music director Charles Amirkhanian, included … Grande Rag Brilliant [sic] by Gary NOLAND, a 15-minute rag introducing KPFA’s new Yamaha Disklavier grand piano, featuring fugues, frozen grace-notes to produce tone clusters, and a lengthy passage in which the music modulates up and down a half-tone each measure (the turntable change of speed effect) …-Nicolas Slonimsky, Music Since 1900 ...remarkable stuff...-Max Morath, ragtime composer and pianist … smashing and extremely difficult piano rag, … which is not distracted by the modulation-per-minute insanity of this beautiful and disorienting music … an exceedingly difficult composition by Berkeley composer Gary Noland, … the Grande Rag Brillante, Op. 15, was written in a modified turn-of-the-Century style and has never been performed successfully by a human pianist. It features something Mr. Noland calls the 'record-player-turntable-change-of-speed-effect.' In certain sections, each successive measure modulates up a half step into the next key signature, providing a mind-bending spiraling of focus which is truly breathtaking … spectacular… -Charles Amirkhanian, Folio (KPFA program guide) ...The Impossible Rag...-Oakland Tribune ...perfectly simulates a piano roll mistracking and continually changing keys...-Dick Zimmerman, Rag Times ...masterpiece!...We recommend Mr. Noland's music for anybody who desires the witty and unexpected approach to the Ragtime idiom.-L. Ich hoffe, Ihr Weg wird leichter....-Ladislav Kupkovic, Czech-born composer residing in Germany Sort of like it ... electronicized ... ; then it becomes a real period piece, like Richard Taruskin’s theory about current HIP practitioners ...-William Bolcom, Pulitzer prize winning composer. ...Gary Noland's music is complex, technically daunting stuff....'Grande Rag Brillante'... seems to be meant as an excercise in psychedelic ragtime piano, full of extremely fast passages, confusing modulations, and bizzare dissonance....-Butch Thompson, The Mississippi Rag ...KPFA Music Director Charles Amirkhanian plans to use the new Disklavier.

Dorm 40 Music #4411085. Published by Dorm 40 Music (A0.740277). This arrangement is part of the Chicago Gargoyle Brass & Organ Ensemble Signature Series. Nessun dorma (None shall sleep) is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and is one of the best-known arias in all of opera. Although Nessun dorma has long been a staple of operatic recitals, Luciano Pavarotti popularized the piece well beyond the world of opera with his many recordings and live performances. Nessun dorma became his signature aria. Nessun dorma also appeared on the best-selling classical album of all time, The Three Tenors in Concert. However, our favorite version will always be the soul-infused rendition by Aretha Franklin during the 1998 Grammy Awards, in which she sang in place of Pavarotti when he was unable to perform due to throat problems. This arrangement, for mixed choir (SATB), organ, brass quintet and timpani/suspended cymbal, includes the aria, as well as the final chorus of the opera. Brass and organ play the entirety of the aria, and choir begins to sing at the final chorus, to dramatic effect. This arrangement includes a full score, organ/vocal score with English text, percussion and brass parts (trumpet parts are provided for both B-flat and C; the percussion part is designed for one player). Vocal score may be freely copied for all members of the choir. Perfect for any concert, and it makes a great encore, as well! If you don’t have a choir, we’ve got you covered. Dorm 40 Music has a published a version for brass quintet, organ and percussion. And, it is available for sale on Sheet Music Plus. Performance time, 4:00. Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.741948 Composed by M. Ryan Taylor. 20th Century,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Vocal Works #484925. Published by Vocal Works (A0.741948). In Bethlehem, the House of Bread, the Bread of Life is found, For David’s root and David’s branch is born in David’s town. A manna in our wilderness, a gift that we might live, Lies in the oxen’s manger, His life to freely give. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The new-forged light o’er Bethlehem guides seekers from afar; Reveals the place where lightly lies the Bright and Morning Star. His dawning beams with mercy, for He will freely be Our compass and our lantern for all eternity. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The shepherds bring their milk-white lambs before the Lamb of God And mark the oxen, rams and kine about Him on the sod. The last and lasting sacrifice, fulfilling all the law, Without a spot or blemish, lies nestled in the straw. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The wise lay gifts around the child, the Gift of Father’s love, The Author of salvation’s song, the Bread sent from above. Oh Wonderful! is in the stable, Counselor lies on the hay, Mighty God with sheep and oxen makes His bed on Christmas Day. The Prince of Peace lies soft and sweetly on His bed this Christmas Day.

LYRICS: I’ve been running in circles Jumping the hurdles Getting caught in that rush of doing so much I’m feeling kinda worn out All this checking the boxes Trying to be flawless Has me spinning my head, catching my breath Too afraid to slow down I tell myself to keep this up That God wants more than just my love But I’ve been complicating things It’s just like me to overthink Gotta keep it real simple Keep it real simple Bring everything right back to ground zero ‘Cause it all comes down to this Love God and love people We’re living in a world that keeps breakin’ But if we want to find a way to change it It all comes down to this Love God and love people Oh this is freedom The keys to the Kingdom Knowing life will be found when love can be loud ‘Cause love is what it’s all about I tell myself to keep this up That all God wants is just my love No more complicating things No more need to overthink Love is patient Love is kind Rescues hearts and changes lives Love is all we need to make things right Gotta keep it real simple It’s really so simple.
