Festival Piece in Classical Style for Euphonium

Euphonium,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1311839 Composed by Kenneth Baird. Classical,Contest,Festival. Score and part. 13 pages. Kenneth Baird Music #900185. Published by Kenneth Baird Music (A0.1311839). The beloved classical trumpet concertos of Haydn and Hummel, and the horn concertos of Mozart, are performed more often than any other concertos for brass instruments. Young euphonium and baritone students may hear these works and aspire to perform them or something in a similar style, but may have difficulty finding something suitable. Festive Piece in Classical Style may be just what they're looking for. While composed in 2023, every effort has been made to compose this in a true classical style. Memorable lyrical melodies, legato, staccato, and marcato passages, dynamic variety, and traditional harmonies, while requiring only limited range demands, make this an outstanding choice for someone seeking to perform an intermediate-level classical-style solo. The top note is a concert G that occurs only once and an optional lower note is provided for any who might need it. While composed originally for trumpet, the composer feels this works equally well on euphonium. The piano accompaniment is accessible to advanced intermediate pianists. Bass Clef and Treble Clef solo parts are provided. This solo would likely be classified on the easier side of a 4.

Premiered on May 4, 1795 in London. The masterworks that Haydn created after 1790 were the symphonies he composed for his two visits to England. The last of the important works that Haydn composed in London, and his final contribution to the genre, is the Symphony No. 104 in D major; the composer carefully noted in English on the manuscript’s title page that this Symphony was the 12th which I have composed in England. The work has been known since the 19th century as the London Symphony' The movement begins with a genteel theme, but veers into turbulent emotional territory in its episodes. This movement’s strong expression has led some commentators to suggest that it was Haydn’s musical elegy to his departed friend and colleague, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who died in 1791. This arrangement was produced for the Tintwistle Band CD On The Edge Of the Moors

Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809). Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Classical Period, Recital. Score, Set of Parts. 29 pages. Published by Lisa Ochoco
Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer who had a fulfilling career as a court musician in the 1700's and was a friend of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Flötenuhrstücke, or flute clock, was a mechanical instrument similar to what we would now know as a music box. Haydn wrote 32 pieces for this instrument, which have been transcribed for piano solo. This arrangement includes pieces 1 through 4 for clarinet quartet. I have made many note changes to these pieces, so if you are looking for a true transcription, this is not it. Most of the chord structure remains intact, although the 4th movement is 40/60 Haydn and mine. My intent was to arrange this work in a way that kept all 4 musicians playing 99% of the time without any 2 parts having to play the exact same thing for too long. Again, if you are familiar with the original work, this arrangement will sound different, and I'm not so sorry about it. ;) It is simple enough for musicians with intermediate skill. Scored for 4 Bb clarinets (or 4 instruments in the same key). Duration: 6 minutes

Large Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Percussion - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.555864 Composed by Edmund Angerer - ascribed variously to Joseph Haydn, Leopold Mozart, Michael Haydn, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Rainprechter. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Children,Christmas,Classical,Standards. Score and parts. 52 pages. RayThompsonMusic #6047585. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.555864). This work was long reputed to be the work of Joseph Haydn, but later scholarship suggested that it was actually written by Leopold Mozart. Its authorship is still disputed, however, and other composers have been proposed as the symphony's true author, including Joseph Haydn's younger brother Michael Haydn, who purportedly contributed movements to the work.Recent research on a newly found manuscript suggests the Austrian Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer (1740–1794) to be the author. If Angerer's manuscript (from 1765, entitled Berchtolds-Gaden Musick) is the original, the Toy Symphony was originally written not in G but rather in C. These findings, however, are disputed among scholars. There is reason to believe that the true composer will likely never be known, in whole or in part, given its confused origins and the paucity of related manuscript sources.Even without a name attached to it, the piece has become a mainstay for children's shows and Christmastime concerts. Each of its three movements features the sounds of actual toys and instruments that sound like they came straight from Geppetto's workshop. The piece calls for a toy trumpet, ratchet, nightingale, cuckoo, drum, and triangle. ( A quail makes it’s only appearance in the 2nd movement.Noisemakers rattle throughout the first of its three movements. The cuckoo and trumpet  call out mischievously during the minuetto of the second movement , and a quail joins the nightingale in the trio. In the short third mvt which is played 3 times, they all play again, each repeat faster than the previous one.The presence of the toy instruments make this a fun piece for children to play, especially when there are also some toys waiting under the tree.My arrangement is based on the Kinder-Symphonie attributed to Leopold Mozart. It is scored in C.it is in 3 mvts and is arranged for double wind quintet, bass and toy percussion.i have distributed the original strings around the woodwind, and composed original classical horn parts.Sometimes known as Children’s Symphony.

Flute and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53374 (Nr. 24). Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Edited by Edmund Wachter and Elisabeth Weinzierl. Arranged by Louis Fleury. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. 5 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53374. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53374). English • German.Joseph Haydn wrote his Symphony Hob. I:24 in D major in 1764, when he was deputy music director in the service of Prince Nikolaus I. Esterházy, before his appointment as Director of music in 1766. In the second movement, Adagio, the flute plays a cantabile solo melody, sparingly accompanied by orchestral strings. This movement sounds as though it were from a flute concerto, readily suggesting an arrangement for flute and piano. This arrangement is by flautist Louis Fleury, who was born in Lyon; at the age of fifteen he moved to Paris, where he spent the rest of his life. After studying with Paul Taffanel he decided upon a career as a freelance flautist – a very unusual choice at the time. Fleury rediscovered early music and commissioned new music, too: Debussy’s , for example, was dedicated to him. Through the publication of several essays Fleury made a significant contribution to the acceptance of the flute as a fully fledged concert instrument in the 20th Century. Plate no. 29512 / published in 1912.

Chamber,Classical,Contest,Festival,Traditional,Wedding. 45 pages. Jmsgu3 #739883. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1139614). Score: 24 pages. Duration: ca. 21:10. Composed in Salzburg, 1783 I. Adagio - Allegro II. Andante cantabile III. Thema: Andante grazioso & 6 Variations - Allegro. The Duo K. 424 was written by Mozart in the summer of 1783 to complete Michael Haydn's set of six for Archbishop Colloredo. Michael Haydn was a close friend of Mozart and a composer who was admired by him. When Mozart heard of Michael Haydn's plight, he quickly wrote the two delinquent duos and delivered them to the Archbishop under Haydn's name. The set of six was presented as all Haydn's, and Colloredo could not detect in them Mozart's obvious workmanship. The piece was carefully designed to complete the set by choosing two keys not already used by Haydn. Among the devices Mozart uses to camouflage his authorship are the chirping grace notes and trills in the opening movement of K. 424. The Duo K. 424 is an example of Mozart's ability to write music in the style of his contemporaries while still maintaining his own unique voice.

Small Ensemble Harpsichord,Organ,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.913678 Arranged by Clay Boland, Jr. Folk,Traditional. Score and parts. 56 pages. BOLAND MUSIC LLC, P.O. The piano scores used for the original sheet music of these folk songs, hymns, and spirituals of the 1800’s were purposely made simple in order to sell as many copies as possible. The idea being that if someone in every family could read the most basic piano score, then the rest of the family could gather around the piano (usually an inexpensive upright) and sing along in the days before records, cassette tapes, CD’s, Radio, Television, iPods, YouTube etc. Nowadays, the few people who can sight-read at the piano are more musically literate, often being able to read and play classical compositions by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. They, therefore, deserve more interesting and rewarding arrangements of these wonderful musical treasures of the 1800’s. Furthermore, since these arrangements for piano and voice can also be played as piano solos, the piano scores are designed to be of enjoyable musical interest on their own; that is, orchestrated for the piano as if they were sketches for an ensemble of instruments. These arrangements can also be considered theatrical improvisations on the original sheet music. Following the best improvisational guidelines, they are based on 1) the implications of the title; 2) the meaning and words of the lyrics; 3) the melody; & 4) the harmonic pattern. For example: Oh, Susanna! is obviously a humorous nonsense song and is therefore arranged to sound carefree, jaunty, and joyful. Also, since the singer refers to my banjo on my knee, the piano arrangement imitates the sound of a banjo as it is played for singing and dancing, strumming its rhythmic way through the simple harmonic changes. You can see and hear the music for most of these contemporary arrangements on Sheet Music Plus and some also on YouTube. And if you wish to play and/or sing along alone or with your friends or family, please do so. Happy time travel!!!

He was a prolific composer in a wide range of genres....symphonies, string quartets, operas and chamber music. He founded a music publishing business in Paris which published works of such composers as Mozart, Beethoven and Boccherini. He arranged works of composer such as this composition by Devienne that he arranged as a flute duet. His music is noted for it simplicity which made it quite popular with the amateur musicians of his time, but it quickly fell out of favor with his death.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031686 Composed by Austin Wintory. Contemporary. Score and parts. 39 pages. Austin Wintory #3512243. Published by Austin Wintory (A0.1031686). EP!C!!! is an overture-sized orchestral work, originally commissioned by the West Michigan Symphony in 2016. It is intended as a higher energy opener or Act 1 closer. Program notes:Entirely by mistake, EP!C!!! is study in conflict. The piece began with a simple premise: compose a work which teases some of the pervasive clichés of today’s musical landscape (particularly the Hollywood or so-called media music scenes). Those clichés are primarily two gestures: 1) a progression of chords, often called the Chords of Destiny (consisting of i – VI – III – VIII) and 2) an endlessly repeating minor third ostinato. The conflict emerged internally when, after multiple false starts, I would quickly start to hate the piece because it felt like the clichés were being presented whole cloth, without the slightest sense of irony. I became deeply paranoid that the music wasn’t in on its own joke. When I would reverse course, it felt condescending, as though it were declaring from some erudite ivory tower that it was above those gestures. The trouble particularly with the latter is that clichés become so for a reason; something genuinely compelling becomes so ubiquitous that it loses some of the freshness, but that doesn’t erase what initially made it compelling. So the piece needed to somehow make fun of the fact that these gestures are cliché, while not dismissing their intrinsic value. And indeed, to celebrate that value! It took a long time to find my place between those two extremes, and ultimately I think the music that emerged is actually the conflict itself manifest. The two gestures are this constant presence, almost like a seductive temptation, that are initially regarded as distractions, but eventually become the music’s core. It’s as though the music finally decided to just relent and find something to truly love and celebrate within these overwrought ideas, haters be damned. However, for the sake of total clarity of intention, I couldn’t resist some on-the-nose tongue-in-cheek. The little cameo of Haydn’s lulling 94th Symphony 2nd movement tune is my way of saying you think classical music is epic??? THEN LISTEN TO THIS SH*T!!! before inevitably popping open a Mountain Dew and snowboarding into an avalanche.- Austin Wintory, October 21, 2016

Chamber Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828700 Composed by Karl Friedrich Abel. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Classical. Score and parts. 16 pages. Guido Menestrina #122893. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828700). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Secondo Movimento - Adagio Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse, tacet on 2nd movement), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen, a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. In 1723 Abel senior became director of the orchestra, when the previous director, Johann Sebastian Bach moved to Leipzig. The young Abel later boarded at Leipzig's Thomasschule, where he was taught by Bach. On Bach's recommendation in 1743 he was able to join Johann Adolph Hasse's court orchestra at Dresden where he remained for fifteen years.[3][5] In 1759 (or 1758 according to Chambers),[1] he went to England and became chamber-musician to Queen Charlotte, in 1764.[3][5] He gave a concert of his own compositions in London, performing on various instruments, one of which was a five-string cello known as a pentachord, which had been recently invented by John Joseph Merlin.[6] In 1762, Johann Christian Bach, the eleventh son of J.S. Bach, joined him in London, and the friendship between him and Abel led, in 1764 or 1765, to the establishment of the famous Bach-Abel concerts, England's first subscription concerts. In those concerts, many celebrated guest artists appeared, and many works of Haydn received their first English performance. For ten years the concerts were organized by Mrs. Theresa Cornelys, a retired Venetian opera singer who owned a concert hall at Carlisle House in Soho Square, then the height of fashionable events. In 1775 the concerts became independent of her, to be continued by Abel and Bach until Bach's death in 1782. Abel still remained in great demand as a player on various instruments new and old. He traveled to Germany and France between 1782 and 1785, and upon his return to London, became a leading member of the Grand Professional Concerts at the Hanover Square Rooms in Soho. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787. One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel. Later, it was discovered that this symphony was actually the work of Abel, copied by the boy Mozart-evidently for study purposes-while he was visiting London in 1764. That symphony was originally published as the concluding work in Abel's Six Symphonies, Op. 7. Follow the score on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_urGVpH7Pls.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811705 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Pat Spence. Classical,Concert. 84 pages. Piper Publications #4366124. Published by Piper Publications (A0.811705). The string quartet is the second of three that Mozart wrote in 1790 for Friedrich Wilhelm II, King of Prussia, who was clearly a very good amateur cellist. There are four movements, Allegro, Larghetto, Minuetto and Allegro assai and the style and scale is very similar to that of the contemporary quartets by Joseph Haydn. This arrangement is suitable for advanced players. In arranging this for woodwind quartet, it has been necessary to re-distribute the parts to reflect the different characteristics of each of the wind instruments. For example, the interplay between the violins which are effectively interchangeable would not always work so well between the flute and oboe. The original makes extensive use of the high range of the cello which is frequently above the range of the bassoon and has sometimes been transposed down an octave or given to the clarinet. The phrasing has been adapted to be more suitable for the wind instruments and players should feel free to make further adaptations - particularly with the addition of slurs or staccato. I have been restrained in the addition of slurs as adding too many may have an adverse effect on breath control - a staccato passage uses less breath.

Small Ensemble Cello,English Horn,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828699 Composed by Karl Friedrich Abel. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Classical. Score and parts. 37 pages. Guido Menestrina #119775. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828699). Karl Friedrich Abel - Sinfonia Op. 7 n. 1 - Primo Movimento - Allegro Karl Friedrich Abel - Symphony Op. 7 n. 1 - First Movement - Allegro Edited by Guido Menestrina - Full score and single parts for 2 oboe, 2 F Horns (originally cor de chasse), 2 violins, viola and cello (originally basse de violon). Abel was born in Köthen,[3][4] a small German city, where his father, Christian Ferdinand Abel, had worked for years as the principal viola da gamba and cello player in the court orchestra. Throughout his life he had enjoyed excessive living, and his drinking probably hastened his death, which occurred in London on 20 June 1787.[citation needed] One of Abel's works became famous due to a misattribution: in the 19th century, a manuscript symphony in the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, was catalogued as his Symphony no. 3 in E flat, K. 18, and was published as such in the first complete edition of Mozart's works by Breitkopf & Härtel.
