Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.744621 Composed by Elena Fortin. Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Elena Fortin #4717595. Published by Elena Fortin (A0.744621). Hidden Pathways for Piano SoloI have always loved the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. It started me on the following thought process: What if you had the chance to wander through some woods and you happened to discover a hidden path. What would happen if you followed it? Maybe you would find an amazing, enchanted place that you would want to visit and re-visit again and again. Hidden Pathways is written in D-flat major–which sounds like a challenging key–it has five flats! But for some reason, D-flat sounds really enchanting to me. And it seems to fit the hands really well too! The piece could probably be classified as Neo-classical or New-Age Instrumental. I never know how to classify these things. The piece explores the whole range of the piano and the challenge is to play this piece with sensitive pedaling and expressiveness. It is a suitable solo for recitals, church settings, or your own personal enjoyment.I hope you enjoy it!Please visit my website: www.the-piano-studio.com or subscribe to my YouTube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFOzbMUgcFWlmG-nfHOT_Zg

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1248632 By Herb Alpert. By Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Timothy Stapay #843127. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1248632). This is an arrangement of This Guys In Love With You for intermediate piano solo. This Guy's in Love with You is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and recorded by Herb Alpert. Although known primarily for his trumpet playing as the leader of the Tijuana Brass, Alpert sang lead vocals on this solo recording, arranged by Bacharach. An earlier recording of the song was by British singer Danny Williams titled That Guy's in Love, which appears on his 1968 self-titled album. As documented in an A&E Biography episode featuring Bacharach, the recording originated when Alpert, while visiting at Bacharach's office, asked, Say, Burt, do you happen to have any old compositions lying around that you and Hal never recorded; maybe one I might be able to use? Alpert said he made it his practice to ask songwriters that particular question: often a lost pearl was revealed. As it happened, Bacharach recalled one, found the lyrics and score sheet in his office filing cabinet, and offered it to Alpert: Here, Herb ... you might like this one.Lyrics:You see this guyThis guy's in love with youYes, I'm in loveWho looks at you the way I doWhen you smile I can tellWe know each other very wellHow can I show youI'm glad I got to know you, 'causeI've heard some talkThey say you think I'm fineYeah, I'm in loveAnd what I'd do to make you mineTell me now, is it so?Don't let me be the last to knowMy hands are shakingDon't let my heart keep breaking, 'causeI need your loveI want your loveSay you're in loveIn love with this guyIf not, I'll just dieTell me now, is it so?Don't let me be the last to knowMy hands are shakingDon't let my heart keep breaking, 'cause I need your loveI want your loveSay you're in loveIn love with this guyIf not, I'll just die.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027467 Composed by Keane Southard. Contemporary. Octavo. 8 pages. Spindrift Pages #546435. Published by Spindrift Pages (A0.1027467). Do You Hear How Many You Are? for SATB choir was written in April and May of 2010. The origins of this piece and text come from a very interesting experience I had in December of 2009. I have been learning a lot in the past few years about the state of our world and the many huge problems and crises we are faced with in the near future, and this discovery has been so daunting and overwhelming to me. So much change needs to happen in order for the near and long-term future of our world to be just and stable that I have felt a lot of guilt over my choice of profession. Why have I chosen to be a composer and musician when I could make more of an impact on solving these problems if I were a scientist or policy maker etc.? I have been struggling to find a solution to this dilemma for a while now and I just happened to be thinking about it, while filled with lots of stress and worries, one night as I was falling asleep in December of 2009. At the moment when I was in that state halfway between sleep and consciousness, I suddenly heard the line Do you hear how many you are? in my head, yet I felt as though I didn't come up with the line but that it was said TO me. I was instantly comforted, as if a load fell off my shoulders, and then I began to hear it being sung, which I knew was the beginning of a choral piece. I woke up, wrote down the music I was hearing (about the first six measures of the work) and then wrote down this entire poem. I truly feel that this message came to me for a reason, and that I need to share it through the music I create. Those of us who want to change the world for the better are not alone; we are many and we will make our voices hear in order to heal the world. -Keane Southard Duration: c. 3 minutes -Winner, 2010 Ars Nova Singers Colorado Composers Competition (Professional Division) -1st Prize, Warren County Summer Music School's Promising Young Composers Competition, 2014 Premiered June 3, 2011 in Boulder, CO by the Ars Nova Singers, Thomas Morgan-conductor PROJECT : ENCOREâ„¢ has found this work to be of exceptional merit. You Can’t Get Even ♫ Original song by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ (‘Songs That Teach’ collection) ♫ [teaches conflict resolution strategies] ♫ As a playground attendant in a K-8 school, there were hundreds of times when children approached me to report a problem with another child. I would always make the 2 children to speak to each other instead of tell me what happened. If I only listened to one or the other, I seldom heard the truth (or the whole truth.) Many of the arguments started, not on the playground, but 2 hours, or 2 days, or 2 weeks before the incident. It is never possible to actually get even, since none of us can gauge the physical or emotional pain the other person feels, plus conflicts seldom start and are immediately finished. Since I had almost every student in the school attend my general music classes, I wrote a song to address the problem. ♫ music © 2013 (copyright registered in 'Songs that Teach’ collection) ♫ recording ℗ 2021 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2022 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ sequenced by the composer ♫ This .pdf file includes 4 files: 1) Letter size lead sheet, 2) letter size piano score, 3) Small page lead sheet for performing from a 10 inch tablet, 4) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1077330). A beautiful vocal solo with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Sherri D. Johnson. Text: When I think of my childhood and all it did bring, (5, p.u. , 6-9) what I remember most is that you always would sing. (9-12) Through the good and the bad, the happy and sad, (13-14) no matter what happened you always did sing. (14-20) There were times I know it was hard for you. (21 pu, 22- There were many things that you had to go through. (23 pu, 24-25 I’m sure there were times when your strength was all gone, (25 pu, 26 and you felt it impossible for you to go on. (27 pu, to 29) Yet somehow within you there was always a song (30 pu, 31- ) that renewed your faith and helped you be strong. (to 37) I learned that no matter what life might bring, (38- it would all be okay if we could still sing. (to 45) I think of the journey you have valiantly fought ( and all of the lessons that to me you taught. You taught me to have faith in my Savior above; you have shown me how to truly love. (to 54) Chorus: You have blessed so many lives; you have touched our hearts. Many tears will be shed when from us you depart. Now your journey soon must come to an end, oh how I will miss you, my dear mother, and friend. (to 66) Yet my life will go on, more challenges to bring, but I’ll be okay, because you taught me to sing. Oh what joy you will feel as you look on his face, and kneel at his feet in that glorious place. (to 79) As you bask in his light he will say to thee, (82-85) “My Daughter, your life has been pleasing to me. (86-89) You kept the faith, you fought a good fight, now take my hand and enter into the light. (to 98) Then joining his angels your voice will ring, as to him your praises you bring. For in that great place, throughout eternity, with Heavenly choirs you will still sing.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

By the way, I'll tell you what just happened: your quartet just came in like a wrecking ball, and smashed every archaic stereotype about classical string players to PIECES!!Gone are the days of strings not being able to feel the groove. Silenced are the cynics who once called us boring and one-dimensional. A new era is upon us, where violins, violas, & cellos can get up, get out, and rock the faces off of the proletariat right alongside our guitar slinging, drumstick twirling brethren! And this chart is just what you need to usher in this oh so bright future for all who rosin the bow:Right from the start, this arrangement takes a unique spin on Miley's pop smash, with a lopsided groove that will have your listeners searching frantically for a downbeat. Their urges will finally be satisfied when the melody takes us back to that oh-so-familiar feeling of 4/4 security... but don't get too comfortable, because when that chorus drops you'd better hold on to your hats. That's right, the train is leaving the station for double-time town! Along this musical journey, you may also encounter glimpses of reggae, jazz, & bluegrass, culminating in a race to the finish that will wre-e-eck any musician who didn't come ready to hang. Oh, and just for funsies I threw in that classic showbiz' moment where the cellist steals the melody, so feel free to ham that up as much as possible, cello players! This arrangement also makes use of modern extended string techniques in order to create rhythmic grooves without the need for additional instruments, including chopping and strum bowing. If you are unfamiliar with these concepts, various resources exist all over the internet to aid you in your quest towards having better time. I recommend this series, for example: https://youtu.be/kfX3kxjC93sPerformance time - 4:20... and if that doesn't make Miley Cyrus proud I don't know what will.Questions? Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.507012 By Alan Wagstaff. By Alan Wagstaff. Arranged by Alan Wagstaff. Celtic,Folk,Irish,Traditional. Octavo. 37 pages. Alan Wagstaff #117526. Published by Alan Wagstaff (A0.507012). This is a new Irish song about the magic of Irish music. It's arranged for choir (SSAATB), harp, piano, flute, and fiddle. Elements of O'Carolan's 'Inisheer' are woven into the melody. Lyric A Song With No Tune The stories they tell in the Town of Athlone, would gladden the heart of a man made of stone. I joined in with them freely, until it was Spring, then I was off, like a hawk on the wing - searching for fortune - and something to sing. And it’s oh! But it’s been a long time! And I hope that we meet again soon. I saw her but once, by the light of the moon. She said she would give me a song with no tune. The pipers are proud in Kildare and Athy; there's no better music found under the sky. But, one bright Summer's evening, I left them behind; put my feet to the road and I followed them blind - searching for fortune - and what I might find. And it’s oh! But it’s been a long time! And I hope that we meet again soon. I saw her but once, by the light of the moon. She said she would give me a song with no tune. The fiddlers are famous from Bantry to Cork. The rake of their reels would make the lame walk. But still, at the close of a fine Autumn day, I packed up my bags and I went on my way - searching for fortune but finding low pay. And it’s oh! But it’s been a long time! And I hope that we meet again soon. I saw her but once, by the light of the moon. She said she would give me a song with no tune. Far up the west coast, in Aran and Clare, there's harpers to bring you a magical aire. I listened, enthralled, till the Winter came on, then pulled up my boots - and soon I was gone - searching for fortune for still I had none. And it’s oh! But it’s been a long time! And I hope that we meet again soon. I saw her but once, by the light of the moon. She said she would give me a song with no tune. I rested, by chance, at the close of the day, by a small rounded hill, where I happened to stray. And there, as the drowsiness over me stole, I dreamed of a woman with eyes black as coal - And the fortune she held was the song of my soul. And it’s oh! But it’s been a long time! And I hope that we meet again soon. I saw her but once, by the light of the moon. She said she would give me a song with no tune. Alan Wagstaff.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596592 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards. Score. 8 pages. Juan Maria Solare #5799759. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596592). About the music Both pieces of this diptych are miniatures with a structure quite similar to each of the pieces of the Album für die Jugend Opus 68 by Robert Schumann. The melodies are strongly rooted in Japanese music (particularly obvious in the second piece). Aesthetically, this is neoclassical music (a quite broad concept nowadays). Fans of Erik Satie, Ludovico Einaudi or Joep Beving will possibly feel at home. Both pieces were composed on 6 June 2020 (the first one with my daughter Laura sleeping on my breast). Find this music soon on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube or any other streaming platform (either under my name or performed by other pianists, possibly Iannis Eralos). Total duration: ca. 5:15.https://open.spotify.com/album/27MbJnfPjcolbQZAmNs8tKWeep Because Its Over: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWflYuEoLy8Smile Because It Happened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SQFUlb7lFgAbout the titlesIn a poem by the German Romantic poet Ludwig Jacobowski titled Leuchtende Tage (Radiant Days) and published in August 1899, he writes:Nicht weinen, weil sie vorüber!Lächeln, weil sie gewesen!Literally:Don't cry because they are over (they: the radiant days)Smile because they happened.Usually it is quoted this way:Don't cry because it’s overSmile because it happened. For my piece, I adapted this idea und -not quite humbly- think that is better now: Do weep because it’s overBut also smile because it happened Why is it better now? Because… where is the issue with weeping? The first step is to accept that pain exists. Nobody has the moral authority to deny you the possibility of crying. Weeping is not a shame or a disgrace. Besides, only he who weeps is credible when he laughs. By the way, these words are sometimes attributed to Confucius. I leave to you the task of determining whether Jacobowski borrowed this thought from him.

Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533282 Composed by Gregory Sullivan Isaacs. Contemporary,Holiday,Love. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2331251. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533282). Whitman only published one book – Leaves of Grass – but it was always a work in progress. He added poems and revised others for each succeeding edition. Thus, the first edition (1819) was a small book with only 12 poems and the last, often refered to as the Deathbed Edition (1892), contained over 400. Some of these he wrote in “clusters†of related poems. Such is the case with the Calamus cluster. The title was chosen to alert the reader that these were poems about what he called “the love of comrades,†“manly love†or with the code word, “adhesiveness.†The concept of homosexuality, as we know it today, was very different in Whitman’s time, but violently socially taboo. Acorus calamus is a reed-like species of marsh grass. In Poetry and Prose, Whitman wrote that it s a … very large and aromatic grass, or root, spears three feet high—often called 'sweet flag'—grows all over the Northern and Middle States.†The phallic plant has always been a symbol of love and associated with the Greek myth of Kalamos, son of the river god who loved the youth Karpos. When Karpos died in a swimming accident, Kalamos transformed himself into a reed so he could always be near the spot where his beloved died, and the rustling of the reeds in the winds sounds like moans of mourning. The Calamus cluster, 39 poems in all, recount the story of a manly love found and lost from the perspective of some time later. They are bittersweet memories. I chose four poems for my own cluster. They represent the four stages of such a relationship: initial attraction, first coy interactions, full-blossomed love, and the bitterness of it’s ending. It is possible that these events actually happened or that they all occurred in the poets mind without ever revealing his thoughts to the intended. Some musical devices, such as the rustling of the leaves in the third song and the constant use of seconds as two people who are close but not yet together in the second one, are obvious. But, other than some indications of tempo, I hesitate to give out remarks about how to perform the songs, or even metronome markings, that might give the singer a preconceived notion. This situation has happened to everyone. So, I say to the singer: revive the memories of a similar event in your life: a particularly heartbreaking one is best. Bring the telling of that memory to the vivid present, and tell us that story as if it ending some time ago but the hurt remains strong, If, by some chance, the singer has not had this experience, he should wait to sing this cycle until he has. The famous country music song, Tennessee Waltz is arranged as played by internationally famous pianist Jon England.Tennessee Waltz is a popular country music song with lyrics by Redd Stewart and music by Pee Wee King written in 1946 and first released in January 1948. The song became a multimillion seller via a 1950 recording – as The Tennessee Waltz – by Patti Page. All versions of the lyrics narrate a situation in which the persona has introduced his or her sweetheart to a friend who then waltzes away with her or him. The lyrics are altered for pronoun gender on the basis of the gender of the singer. The popularity of Tennessee Waltz made it the fourth official song of the state of Tennessee in 1965. Page's recording was inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.Lyrics below:I was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee WaltzWhen an old friend I happened to seeI introduced her to my loved oneAnd while they were dancingMy friend stole my sweetheart from meI remember the night and the Tennessee WaltzNow I know just how much I have lostYes, I lost my little darling the night they were playingThe beautiful Tennessee WaltzI was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee WaltzWhen an old friend I happened to seeI introduced her to my loved oneAnd while they were dancingMy friend stole my sweetheart from meI remember the night and the Tennessee WaltzNow I know just how much I have lostYes, I lost my little darling the night they were playingThe beautiful Tennessee WaltzInternational piano-playing phenomenon Jon England has been giving enthusiastic audiences what they want since 1979 when, at the relatively young age of 19, he wowed night-club goers in his native Great Britain with sparkling and unique renditions of everything from “New York, New York†to Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blueâ€.

Woodwind Ensemble Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.778282 Composed by Greg Danner. 20th Century,Contemporary. 80 pages. Avanti Music #2967835. Published by Avanti Music (A0.778282). Twitter, founded in March of 2006, is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to post short messages of no more that 140 characters. Because it works as an application on cell phones people can share information immediately. In its short time, Twitter has become embedded in our increasingly networked society. The composition Twitter takes five famous tweets-some serious, others funny, and some historic and presents a musical interpretation. In keeping with the idea that a tweet is a short message, each movement of Twitter is approximately 140 seconds long. 1. There’s a plane in the Hudson. I’m on the ferry going to pick up the people. Crazy. Janis Krums, 12:36 p.m. Jan15, 2009Janis Krums posted this text and the first photo of US Airways flight 1549 moments after the plane made an emergency landing in the Hudson River after hitting a flock of birds. His quick action helped to notify rescue workers and the media. 2. Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me.Conan O’Brien, 3:54 p.m. Feb. 24, 2009 Shortly after being dismissed from the Tonight Show and finding himself in-between jobs, Conan O’Brien joined Twitter. As with many celebrities, a Twitter account can allow fans to stay in touch and feel connected. What was amazing in this case was that in just two hours after this first tweet he had over 125,000 followers-the largest number ever in such a short time. His number has since grown to nearly 3 million. 3. ArrestedJames Buck, 9:30 a.m. April 10 A graduate student from the University of California-Berkeley, James Buck was covering an anti-government protest in Egypt. Buck was caught up in a demonstration, and while being taken to jail had time to post a one-word tweet-arrested. Within seconds colleagues in the United States got word of his arrest and notified the university, the US Embassy, and a number of press organizations on his behalf, leading to his freedom. 4. We just made history. All of this happened because you gave your time, talent and passion. All of this happened because of you. Thanks. Barack Obama, 11:34 a.m. Nov. 5, 2008 The Obama 2008 campaign was historic on a number of counts, and the use of technology and social media was one of them. This tweet was sent to over 2.6 million followers just after the election. 5. Are you ready to celebrate? Well, get ready: We have ICE!!!!! Yes, ICE, *WATER ICE* on Mars! w00t!!! Best day ever!! MarsPhoenix, 5:14 PM Jun 19th, 2008 NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has made an innovative use of twitter by sending messages from the Mars Phoenix lander’s point of view. The message above is undoubtedly the most exciting news ever to be tweeted on behalf of an extraterrestrial robot.

ALL PURCHASES COME WITH SCORE AND PARTSIn 4 movements – total duration 35 minutes.Quincie was written between July 2018 and January 2019. I had just begun receiving the main ideas for it when a pianist I know locally, Robert Aston, happened to ask me if I had written anything for piano and string quartet. I believe that Quincie “heard†this and that was the trigger and the door unlocking. Because the next thing I knew I was absolutely engulfed in the writing of this work for the next six months.Like all my works, this one is an emotional journey, and my own nickname for it is Quincie, The Comic Healer. Each movement tells a progressive story of the different stages of a journey through a long period of grief, illness, depression and chronic anxiety. The overall mood of the whole piece is extremely energetic, loving, warm, compassionate and audience friendly, and while there is some heart ache in the middle of the first movement, the work is also extremely comical and hilarious in its third and fourth movements. It has a great sense of slapstick humour alongside the deep ache of grief and unfathomable sadness. It is completely tonal and in a highly Romantic style. It has enjoyed the following performances:April 27th 2019 at the Triangle Church, Bolton BL1 5QP 7.30pm by the Pennine QuintetJune 1st 2019 at the Victoria Hall, Knowsley St. Bolton BL1 2AS at 1pm Lunchtime concert, by the Pennine QuintetJuly 7th 2019 at the Horwich Community Centre, Beaumont Rd, BL6 7BG at 2.45pm as part of the Horwich Music Festival.A great start for a brand new work! My gratitude to the Pennine Quintet and concert organizers is immense and not something I will ever forget. Thank you. The following performance was recorded and filmed at the Horwich Music Festival on July 7th 2019 and added to YouTube with permission of the Pennine Ensemble. Many many thanks.Very sadly, in June 2020, the pianist, Robert Aston, passed away from cancer. Without his wonderful support and encouragement this work never would have had even one performance let alone FOUR! Therefore, I have now fully dedicated this piece to Robert as the least I could do to thank him for all the wonderful music he gave so freely to Bolton, UK, over his lifetime. Thank you, Robert. You were FAB!!!

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828227 Composed by John Hatton. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. 20th Century,Baroque,Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Paul Thurmond #4968929. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828227). Tune: DUKE STREETUse: Prelude, PostludeOne Sunday my church was singing Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun as the opening hymn. It’s our tradition that the last stanza of a hymn is sung in unison, so that I as the organist can change the harmonization and keep things interesting. Sometimes I know ahead of time what I’m going to do, and sometimes I make it up on the spot.On this particular morning I planned on being spontaneous. (Can spontaneity be planned?) When we got to the final stanza, I threw on the 16′ pedal reed and went to town.I don’t know if this is the case for all musicians, but while I’m playing my brain is working on several different levels. Most of these are involved in actually playing the music, but there’s also a running commentary on how things are going. This commentary is usually really boring: It’s going okay. It’s going okay. It’s going okay. Sometimes the messages are more interesting: Uh-oh. She just dropped her mute. I missed that chord; remember to circle it when we’re done. My page turner appears to be on fire. So: We’re in the final stanza of Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun. Big, majestic hymn. Over a hundred congregants and choir members are enthusiastically singing in unison. I’m leading them from the organ with an improvised accompaniment that involves all of my limbs. It’s fair to say that I was concentrating hard.Suddenly the commentary part of my brain breaks in: Dude, your feet are totally playing Canon in D. Cool!Canon in D is the most famous work of Johann Pachelbel, a German composer who preceded Bach by a few decades. It’s overused at weddings, but it’s actually a really good piece of music. The original is for three violins and a basso continuo part, which would usually have been played by harpsichord and cello. In this case, the basso continuo plays the same eight measures again and again throughout the piece. This technique of repetition is called a ground bass. While that’s going on, the violins play several different themes on top of it.When I was improvising that Sunday, my feet had accidentally wandered into that ground bass part, which happened to fit nicely with the melody we were singing. During the sermon (sorry Pastor!) I started going through the violin themes in my head, seeing if any of them could also match up with the hymn tune. Some of them worked and some didn’t. I decided to write a sort of theme and variations, where the hymn tune appears in various forms. Sometimes it’s played along with one of the violin themes, and sometimes a violin theme serves as an interlude on its own. And except for one passage, the left hand is always playing some version of the basso continuo theme. I also changed the meter from 4/4 to 3/4 to make it more interesting. It culminates in a climax worthy of a king. I hope you enjoy it.

Cello Duet Cello - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1084564 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Aaron Sinnett. Classical,Romantic Period. Score. 11 pages. Aaron Sinnett #688748. Published by Aaron Sinnett (A0.1084564). This elegant work by Felix Mendelssohn was originally composed for Cello and Piano. My goal was to retain as much of the pianistic elements and interweaving lines as possible while arranging it to give it cellistic playableness. The pleasingness of the Lied Ohne Worte is so compelling that anyone of the same mind will find a way to play my Cello 2 part. Making an arrangement for Cello Duet was not part of my plan until I happened to desire a harmony to play along with. What I noticed was something that nearly arranged itself. I set to work immediately and several revisions later, I am pleased to say there is now a version of this amazing Song Without Words for two cellos. Please visit my YouTube channel to hear the Cello 2 part alone for reference. It would be great to hear anyone else performing it as well.

Jazz Combo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970739 Composed by Eduardo Arolas. Arranged by Mike Strand. Concert,Jazz,Latin,World. Score and parts. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #4895835. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970739). Arranged by Mike Strand, ASCAPâ??This is a lead sheet for a jazz or Latin combo or ensemble. It may serve as the basis for a variety of arrangements, improvisations, or contrafacts. The audio sample is a jazz bossa nova iReal Pro accompaniment, combined with the lead sheet melody in Finale PrintMusic. In this arrangement, you will hear acoustic guitar and violin, often heard in tango ensembles in the early 20th century. This bossa nova is inspired by Eduardo Arolasâ??s never-published tango, Volcán (Volcano). At least itâ??s never been published according to the todotango.com web site. Eduardo Arolas is a famous tango composer who is well documented on that web site. Also on that web site, you can listen to Osvaldo Requenaâ??s piano performance of Volcán from Arolasâ??s original piano sheets (written circa 1917). Years ago, I developed and wrote a tango quintet arrangement of Volcán by listening carefully to Requenaâ??s recorded piano performance on the web site. My quintet arrangement, in turn, was my source for writing this bossa nova arrangement. So, now Volcán has finally been published, but as a bossa nova! Wherever Señor Arolas may be, I hope he understands. In this bossa nova arrangement, I believe I've preserved the spirit of Arolas's original tango.Without knowing exactly what was in Eduardo Arolas's mind when he wrote the original tango, this is my personal idea of the message behind the music:Introduction: Let me tell you a story about a volcano that happened long ago.Part A (bars 5-20): It's a sad tale about human helplessness and suffering in the face of natural catastrophe.Part B (bars 21-36): The people living in a town below a volcanic peak were going about business, leisure, and play, experiencing the ordinary cares and pleasures of life.Part C (bars 41-52): One day, without warning, the volcano erupted, with smoke, falling hot rocks and ash, and hot lava flows. Some folks got away, but others were killed, buried or injured, and all that was left of the town was devastation, suffering, and, eventually, calm.Part A' (bars 53-end): A sad tale, but may we learn from it, and may the souls of the poor victims rest in peace. If you listen to and read the lyrics of Arolas's great tango, La Cachila, or listen to another superb tango of his, El Marne, you will witness further his talent and skill in composing dramatic music. My piano arrangement of La Cachila is for sale on this web site.

Epilogue

B-Flat Clarinet,Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1264319 Composed by Ali Hanna, Madison Julius Cawein, and Mark Twain. 21st Century,Contemporary. 6 pages. Ali Hanna #857172. Published by Ali Hanna (A0.1264319). I wrote this piece as an epilogue (pun definitely intended) to a traumatic religious event that took place in February 2023. I won't go into details so I don't risk triggering anyone, but let's just say it was a lot. This is also the first piece I've written where the text isn't my own because my composition professor at the time challenged me to do so.The text of the first half of the piece comes from Mark Twain's poem Warm Summer Sun. It's intended to be an acceptance of the fact that the singer isn't the same person they once were. As the poem repeats, the singer begins to say goodbye to their old self and lay them to rest. The text of the second half of the piece comes from Madison Julius Cawein's poem Take Heart. I see this part as someone in the singer's life giving them hope to keep on living, and who that entity is can be interpreted in a number of ways. For me, it was the friends and professors around me that helped me keep going. I didn't talk to many people about what happened, but just seeing everyone's faces every day taught me that if they can continue living their lives, then so can I.I ended up adding the clarinet part after a moment of inspiration during my trip to the ICA ClarinetFest 2023 in Denver, Colorado. Voice and clarinet are my two passions, so I thought I would use Epilogue to put them together. This piece has yet to be premiered in its current form, but I hope to someday. If you would like to premiere it, please email me at alisonhanna29@gmail.com.
