Also, it could also describe children playing an elaborate game as well outside on a sunny day. This solo piano work is meant as a stand alone piece on a concert or as part of a recital. This piece is appropriate for schools and for students learning to play in 3/8 time although for full realization, proper piano techniques are necessary to bring out the fullness of the piece. This piece was written on August 19, 2015 in Brookville, New York which makes the piece part of the New York Collection. The work is about 2 minutes long and was meant to be a short stand a long piece. Playing Games Op. 13 was written shortly after arriving in New York to begin my master's degree studies. It was conceived from the happiness and joy I felt in starting a new chapter in my life. I felt childlike again. I am an ASCAP writer and publisher.

The piano could be substituted for a harpsichord. Techniques used are polystylism and minimalism, but the overall impression is neoclassic. Generally tonal, with some piquant sections, it is probably intermediate in skill level. Each movement is different in form, though based on the first movement's form. Inspired by an engraving on the cover of this piece.

A sweet, lovely ballad made popular by guitarist John Williams and Cleo Laine, this piece by Stanley Meyers was made famous in the film score to The Deer Hunter. Arranged for string quaret, this would be a perfect piece for a wedding processional or simply for prenuptial or reception music. There are plenty of places for making cuts to adjust the legnth to suit or adding repeats, however in this arrangement I have included both bridges for a long play version if desired. With all repeats, it is about 5 minutes long.

Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, include his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music, contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing, he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. Some songs (chapters) were composed of ancient Chinese poems by famous poets like Liu Bang, Bai Juyi, Tao Yuan-ming, Su Dong-po, et al. A video with the same title has been posted on YouTube.com, which contains more than 130 images of photos and a few short videos with the background melody of this song. Although most of the songs were published before as early as 2008 and later, the author re-composed carefully based on his memory with certain modifications and key signature changes to adjust an even playing of the song in one whole piece. The highlights of the stories' songs are as follows: The beginning part of the song is originally called the prelude of Tao Yuan-ming's The Eutopia of the Peach Land Spring; which is followed by the historical long poem of 616 Chinese characters called Pi Pa Xing by Bai Ji-yi around 1:30. Around 8:06 is a small bird feeding her young chicken and its tail-dancing matches with the melody of the song which was modified from Beijing Opera by the composer. Around 11:30 is the song called Wedding Waltz for Su Dong-po's poem Written on the West Wood Wall; around 13:40 is the Chi Le Song; around 14:00 to 15:00 is the song - Love Forever, which was jointly created with his son Raymond and his wife Catherine 25 years ago. Read below to see what his thoughts are about his composition for Jonathan Warburton. I have written a number of pieces (over many years) for Jonathan Warburton who also commissioned ‘Sons of Thunder’ in 2015. Jon’s gift for musical ‘acrobatics’ gave me the idea of creating a short, high-energy work that would give vent to his exceptional range and flexibility. The central section is muted and relatively calm but it is not long before the music builds and the opening material returns. A solo cadenza creates a welcome calm interlude before the storm gathers once again as the piece builds to a momentous fortissimo before grinding to a thunderous halt! ‘Sons of Thunder’ is the nickname given by Jesus to the apostles James and John, possibly reflecting their lively characters……I’m guessing that theirs were not too unlike Jonathan’s ebullient personality!.

You can then imagine my amazement and amusement at around 13/14 years of age when I discovered through my music studies that a minuet was in fact a type of musical form and dance! Therefore, it went without saying that at some point in my music writing life I just HAD to write my Mum a minuet! So, here is the minuet she so often unwittingly asked me for throughout our lives! She attended the premiere of the Flute, violin and piano arrangement in Bolton, UK, and was highly amused (and not a little chuffed) by the story behind the piece!Naturally, the piece is dedicated to my mother, Margaret (Pearl) Denny, and was finally written in June 2015 for Gary Woolf and the Banda Di Musica in Germany.Its duration is about 7/8 minutes long and it is intended for junior strings. Violins 1 and 2 are of moderate difficulty, while the Violin 3/violas, cellos/basses are simpler.There is a violin solo throughout (moderate difficulty), to be played by the Leader, but is not a concerto-style solo, but rather one that weaves in and out of the texture throughout the piece.The piece is in a minuet and Trio style and is light, tuneful and fun. There are 3 arrangements available:No.1 – School Arrangement: Violins 1, 2 and 3, Cellos 1 and 2No.2 – Standard Arrangement: Violins 1 and 2, violas, cellos, Double bassesNo.3 – Violin, flute and piano.  This arrangement is of a more advanced standard than the string orchestra arrangements and would suit players of approximately grade 7 upwards.
