It is all in the original keys and based on the well-known Ravel orchestration, which is quite difficult. As a result, this arrangement is even more challenging. It is designed with at least 2 players per part in mind, and all of the oboe and bassoon parts are divisi throughout. The attached MP3 recordings are multi-track recordings of me playing all the parts. This was, by far, the most daunting recording I have put together for any of my arrangements, and I apologize for any minor imperfections in timing or pitch. In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. Faced with trying to recreate the uniqueness of Ravel’s use of the solo Alto Saxophone, I decided to give that part to a solo Oboe d’Amore. It’s quite distinct, and conveniently just exactly fits into the range of the instrument. Many groups won’t have access to a d’amore, though, so I have included an alternate part for English Horn. Using it does make this the only movement that requires 2 English Horns, however. This is also the movement where I discovered that the cheap recording equipment I’m using currently doesn’t like long sustained tones, and there are a lot of them in this movement. For whatever reason, there’s a lot of distortion on them in the MP3, and I apologize for not being able to figure out how to correct that.

It's my pleasure to offer up some options!I had so much fun writing these songs and I hope students, teachers, and audiences alike enjoy them just as much! May you laugh as you state your case to go on a winter vacation. May you cry at the idea of wearing a special hat made with a grandmother's love. May you be left breathless with joy as you glide on a frozen pond with no one else around. In addition to all of these brand-spankin' new tunes, I also included the previously-released Everyone's a Kid at Christmas because, well, it's a hoot!These are crowd pleasers perfect for holiday recitals, and some can be performed in a group as well as solos.A note for teachers: These songs do have varying ranges. I, for the most part, notated them as I conceived of them. But I did my best to provide alternate pitches in case the melody goes a little high or a little low. So, I invite to you peruse a song in it's entirety and see where there may be options even if the designated range may seem a little wide. It is my intention to make these songs as accessible to as many singers as possible.

In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. The original orchestration for this very famous movement is enormous. As a result, it's exhausting to play a reduced transcription, cause, except for the chorales, I pretty much needed all the instruments all the time. It's especially exhausting if you've played the whole rest of the piece first. That aside, I think this does a pretty good job of recreating the Ravel orchestration.

The middle section of this movement, with all the tremolos and trills, works much better for strings than for double reeds. Still, I was fairly pleased with how the recording of it turned out. The outer sections of the movement are quite difficult because of the extreme ranges that are consistently needed.

This piece represents close and even clustered harmony, almost like a beautiful orchestra, but with voices. The piano player is more of a piano reduction of the choral parts. This is the perfect score for harmony practice within the choir, especially with ensembles that have trouble finding pitch in closer quarters. The text of Breathe Low is a meditation for those who are in tough times. The original text speaks peace and restoration. Breathe Low and Speak soft refer to a calming effect that will sooth audiences. There is also what I call the Football Section where a fugue like subject, Let us find peace, tosses itself between all voices starting in the bass section, moving to tenor, alto and soprano. Sometimes this section shares harmony (SA and TB together). It does have multiple meters from 4/4 to 2/4 time and back again. This peace encompasses a wide use of dynamics from piano to double forte. Print this piece on 8.5 x 11 in. paper. It is around 4 1/2 minutes and is 8 pages long in print.

This sheet music is notated for 8-note, C major diatonic scale (one octave) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating a 2-part instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). For most of the song, the Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords.The first 31 measures progress through the melody one time and can be used as a stand-alone performance. This first part of the arrangement is perfect for introducing new players to Bells and Boomwhackers®. Beginning in measure 32, the arrangement becomes more challenging by embellishing the melody, adding eighth notes, and alternating the chopstick theme between the parts. This second section utilizes more advanced note-reading and rhythmic skills and helps develop the ringing and whacking techniques needed for more advanced songs. Included in this set of scores is a combined score with both instrument parts on a grand staff plus a separate score for each instrument. A note and chord reference chart is also provided. To aid in the learning and teaching of this song or for use with other instruments (such as a Ukulele), chord names are included on the Boomwhackers® staff and score. Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to distinguish (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter and eighth rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure.
