Added by bernard-dewagtere, 11 Nov 2008 "Silent Night" is a popular Christmas carol. The original lyrics of the song "Stille Nacht" were written in Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria, by the priest Father Joseph Mohr and the melody was composed by the Austrian headmaster Franz Xaver Gruber. In 1859, John Freeman Young (second Bishop, Episcopal Diocese of Florida) published the English translation that is most frequently sung today. I'm a member of Elysium, the choir in the example video above. We found this piece fairly easy to manage, although strong sopranos and altos are needed as it goes very high and quite low too! But the overall result is sooo pretty, a really beautiful arrangement! I'd recommend it. |
very useful indeed, we are starting a vocal group and we really needed some scores ↪ Thank you so much : you are perfect!!! |
