Added by tilosmusic, 19 Dec 2012 This composition "Sounding Silence at Night" has been composed for 6 wood instruments and 23 divisi strings; thus it may be easily played by a normal symphony orchestra. All 23 strings will have to play solo. Nearly all the time they play canons in dense order but always in pianissimo. First they play in the same pitch, later descending or rising in semitones. When listening you will recognize the canons until their 3rd or 4th entry but then you will hear clusters of the many tones, according to up to 23 entries. (6 first violins, 6 second violins, 4 violas, 4 celli, 3 contrabasses) Of course the wind instruments play solo anyhow: They perform some musical "moonshine" in this piece. From time to time they change to the canons, and some strings perform the canons-clusters. (2 flutes, 1 oboe, 1 bassoon, 2 clarinets in Bb) Source / Web : | Tilo komponiert Musik | |
