Narciso Paz (1785 - 1845) Espagne Born around 1785 (according to Cancionero folklórico español, printed in 2013 by the National Library Mariano Moreno of Buenos Aires), probably in the region of Castle and Léon, he was until 1799 cantor in the choir of the cathedral of Valladolid. At the time of the Napoleonic occupation, he was forced to work as a guitarist and composer abroad, spreading the knowledge of Spanish popular music all over Europe. After the Restoration he published in Paris, in three files, the Collection des meilleurs airs nationaux espagnols, boleros et tiranas avec accompagnement de guitare et de piano ou harpe, followed by A Collection of popular Spanish Songs arranged for the Guitar with an accompaniment for the Piano, printed in London in 1823. He was also the author of sacred music, including an Office of the Souls and a Mass for four voices. He died around 1845. (Hide extended text)...(Read all)
