(b c 1475-80). ?Spanish singerandcomposer. Having trained probably in France and northern Italy, he was employed by Pope Leo X in Rome and, from 1522, by the Duke of Mantua. His output includes six masses, at least 31 motets and a chanson. An original composer who adapted many local stylistic influences, he was held in high regard both during his life and later.
