Russian military officer, lawyer and archaeologist (b. 1851; d. 1935), born Vladimir Petrovich Pogozhev (Владимир Петрович Погожев).
After serving as an officer in the Semyonovsky Regiment, he became an official of the board of the Imperial Theatres in 1882. The following year, he was promoted to manager of the office of the Imperial Theatres in Saint Petersburg, where he remained until 1908. He was an admirer of Tchaikovsky's work, and helped to promote the staging of the composer's operas and ballets in the Russian capital. (Hide extended text)...(Read all)
