About the artist

The pianist, composer and arranger ROSARIO FRONTE was born in Noto (Sicily) in 1966. He began studying piano under Carla Romano Calogero and he graduated at the Musical Institute of Catania with Francesco Valenti.

From 1990 to 1999 he improved high studies of piano and began to study Composition with Eliodoro Sòllima in Palermo. He also attended several courses of Composition, musical analysis and orchestra conducting by Eliodoro Sòllima at the Euterpe Academy in Trapani and at the Association Soni ventorum in Palermo.

Then he continued studying Composition with Teresa Procaccini in Rome and he graduated in Composition at the Conservatory of Palermo.

Besides playing piano as soloist and in duet, he composed pieces for piano and chamber ensembles, transcriptions for various orchestral ensembles and didactic works published by editors like Alfieri & Ranieri publishing of Palermo, Sinfonica of Brugherio (Milano), Agenda of Bologna and Studiomusicalicata of Noto.

In 1997 he took part to The First National Meeting of Composition Alfeo Gigli at the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna with Tema con variazioni for violin and piano.

In February 2000 another one of his compositions, Sonatina for piano duet, was performed by Stefano Malferrari and Carlo Mazzoli at the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna in the Second International Meeting of Composition Alfeo Gigli.

He has worked with the orchestra of saxophones Arcadia SaxEnsemble for which he has written some songs.

In August 2003 he edited a wide range of arrangements of film music , performed by the Quartet Xibini, as part of Marzamemi Cinema Film Fest held August 16 to 23 and sponsored by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture - Department of Entertainment.

In September 2004 he was a member of the jury of the 1st National Competition for Young Musicians Val di Noto, which took place 10 to 12 September 2004 at the Teatro Comunale Vittorio Emanuele di Noto.

He has participated in numerous competitions composition received various awards, including in 2004 the 3rd prize in the category composition for solo instrument, as part of the 5th National Competition organized by the Cultural Waves Musical Jole Corigliano of Taranto, in May 2005 the 1st prize in the National Competition of Composition " Placido Mandanici " Barcelona PG (ME ) and a certificate of merit in the 2006 edition of the TIM International Tournament of music.

In 2008 and 2009 he edited, as experienced master composer, arrangements for the instrumental group of the 1st High School " M. Bartolo " Pachino (SR). At the conclusion of the teaching, instrumental group has performed a series of concerts in the territory (Teatro Vittorio Emanuele Noto, Pachino Waldensian Church, millstone Rudinì Pachino, Piazza Regina Margherita Marzamemi etc.).
