I am a Fellow of the Guild of Musicians, now retired. I was a member of Chamber Choir Ireland for twenty years, and also a Lay Vicar Choral at St. Patrick's Cathedral Dublin, singing tenor.
I studied voice with Jean Austin-Dobson, and guitar with Hector Quine, both of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
I have had many pursuits outside music, including Weightlifting, Squash, Tennis, Badminton, Tai Chi, Cycling, Karate, Running, and Sailing. And now, one remains: solving (or not, admittedly) chess puzzles daily, and watching grandmaster tournaments online.
Having built my first classical guitar, I am setting up my workshop to build more. Also, I am currently transcribing Elizabeth duets, and also completing a major new addition of the Carcassi Method.
So, perhaps I am not fully retired!
Lastly, I enjoy taking long walks on the beach, and from time to time seeing how many press-ups I can do. Unlike my waist, it's a diminishing number! (Hide extended text)...(Read all)
