Ferdinand Löwe (1865 - 1925) Autriche Ferdinand Löwe est un chef d'orchestre autrichien, né le 19 février 1865 à Vienne et mort le 6 janvier 1925. Löwe commence sa carrière comme chef de l'Orchestre philharmonique de Munich à partir de 1896, l'année même de la mort de Bruckner dont il a été l'élève. En 1900, il fonde le Wiener Concertvereinsorchester, devenu en 1933 l'Orchestre symphonique de Vienne, et devient professeur au conservatoire de la capitale autrichienne. Il dirige également l'Académie de Musique de Vienne de 1918 à 1922.
En tant qu'élève et proche de Bruckner, il joue un rôle important pour faire connaître les œuvres du maître, en estimant parfois nécessaire, avec d'autres comme Franz Schalk, de pousser Bruckner à y apporter des retouches. Dans le cas de la Neuvième symphonie, Löwe qui en dirige en 1903 la création, apporte de lui-même à la partition des modifications et des altérations très importantes touchant à l'harmonie, l'orchestration et la dynamique, faisant même éditer sa version en 1906. ough Ferdinand David is
mostly known as a
composer for a couple of
his instrumental works,
namely a Concertino for
Trombone, and this
Concertino, Op. 12 for
bassoon, perhaps he
should be most well-known
as the violinist who
premiered the Violin
Concerto of Felix
Mendelssohn in 1845. He
was appointed as
concertmaster of the
Gewandhaus Orchestra in
Leipzig when Mendelssohn,
a childhood friend,
became the principal
conductor in 1835. This
Concertino for bassoon
also exists in a version
for viola, and now
subsequently this edition
for bass clarinet. It is
a fun solo in two parts,
first an aria-like
melody, followed by a
technical Presto agitato.
The key has been kept the
same as the original
version, and although it
is preferred to perform
with an extended range
instrument, indications
are made for adapting it
to a standard range bass
clarinet.

Wagnerian opening sets
the stage for the fiery
main theme of the
piece–a triplet
feeling motif in the
lower piano that
continues under each
chorus statement of the
melody. The choir
re-enters in the role of
the
“orchestraâ€
in the second chorus with
a haunting legato counter
melody that leads up to
the first verse. Each
verse should have a
Gospel/Stride feel with
the choir, particularly
the upper voices,
switching to a more
Gospel sound and rhythmic
feel. The A sections
should be performed with
aggression and angst to
contrast the calm legato
middle section. That
middle section is our
musical prayer of hope
that, like the sentiment
of this Spiritual, will
continue to live in our
hearts despite the
sometimes difficult
realities of life.

of Schubert's life. Like
many of his late works,
