Musician-singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, born in the south of France, Jean Michel Mattia began his musical studies with saxophone. He studied at JAM Montpellier, and then at the Berklee College of Music in Boston with Andy Mc Ghee and Joe Viola.
Installed in South America for thirteen years, Jean Michel Mattia works with various emerging groups on the Brazilian scene and performs at international festivals. He participates several times in the carnival of Bahia, and plays with the block Afro Male Balé, Agbeokuta, Mariela Santiago, Orchestra Fred Dantas, Rebecca Mata ...
In France, he plays in many jazz festivals in the quartet Swing Macadam and in the group Oba Brazil, he sings in The Great Chorus of Buèges, the group of the singer Marianne Aya Omac, and in Gospelize it Project directed by Emma Lamadji.This musician and passionate teacher enchaine internships, masterclasses and formations: Brandford Marsalis, Max Zita, Sabine Kouli, RoyHart, Emmanuel Djob, Eskenazy David, Walter Thomson ... Touched deeply by his experience of life in Brazil, he composes, plays and sings his music with sincerity, inspired by all the great Brazilian artists and jazz musicians with whom he has been playing or met during his course.
