As suggested by the title the four single movements are dedicated to particularflautists yet not real people but imaginary ones in mythology religion and literature. “Pan” “Tityre” “Krishna” and “Monsieur de la Péjaudie” (a character in anovel by Henri de Régnier) are the individual titles in the composition which is a loose type of Sonatine. The specific cast of the pieces is given by the sophisticated rhythm and striking harmony. It is fitting that thischarming work has recently been enjoying increasing popularity.
