Les villes hanséatiques médiévales sur la rivière l\'IJssel sant centrales dans cette suite en quatre parties. La première partie est une image imposante de la ville de Deventer, qui est également le domicile du compositeur. Ensuite, la petite ville de Doesburg est présentée d\'une manière vive et pleine de fantaisie dans une danse rapide en une mesure à trois temps. Dans la troisième partie, la ville de Kampen est centrale sous forme d\'une danse solennelle de la cour, la pavane. La suite se termine par un reflet triomphant de la ville de Zutphen. A nice challenge for clarinet ensemble, fun to play and practice together. Composed in the final weeks of his life, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi originally scored it for solo soprano and alto voices, accompanied by strings and basso continuo.
