for Solo Bb Clarinet and Piano-Cette oeuvre en deux mouvements pour clarinette et orchestre fut commandée par Musica Reservata vof Belgique et est dédiée à Eddy Vanoosthuyse un bon ami et confrère du compositeur. Elle connut du succès à sa première mondiale le 10 décembre 2008à Salt Lake City (Etats-Unis) interprétée par l?orchestre Utah Philharmonia sous la direction de Robert Baldwin avec Eddy Vanoosthuyse comme soliste. Par la suite l?oeuvre fut mise de côté pendant quelques années surtout parce que les agendaschargés des deux protagonistes ne leur permettaient pas de trouver le temps pour un enregistrement discographique. Pour finir l?oeuvre fut enfin enregistrée en juin 2015 à Nagoya (Japon) avec le Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra mené par l?étoilemontante vénézolane SergioRosales. La même semaine le 12 juin l?oeuvre fut présentée en concert pour la première fois au Japon par les mêmes interprètes et connut ici aussi un grand succès. Après Concerto Doppio pour deux clarinettes et orchestre à cordes composé en 2001 voici la deuxième oeuvre de concert de Jan Van der Roost qui met la clarinette en vedette.Le premier mouvement Doloroso e Contemplativo transmet le côté sérieux de la clarinette et par conséquent il n?y figure presque pas de virtuosité ou de spectacle. Au contraire l?orchestration colorée et variée qui est entrelacée autour de lapartie solo est bien plus qu?un simple accompagnement et prend la forme de partenairemusical d?importance comparable au soliste. Une introduction un peu mystérieuse mène à une première apogée orchestrale en passant par des cellules musicales ascendantes. Ensuite on entend l?entrée du soliste d?abord par des idées musicales plusfragmentaires puis par des lignes mélodiques plus longues. L?orchestre entre en dialogue avec le soliste et son instrumentation délicate et colorée crée un parfait encadrement musical. Vers la fin l?atmosphère du début est réaffirmée et lesoliste finit par la même note par laquelle il avait commencé.Le deuxième mouvement Giocoso e Con Bravura est une toute autre histoire : ici le côté virtuose et parfois presqu?acrobatique de la clarinette est exploré. Des cascades imposantes et continuelles de notes demandent une dextérité exceptionnelleau soliste ce qui à un certain moment et « récompensé » par l?orchestre par un clin d?oeil au « Hallelujah » de Handel ? vraiment mérité après ces feux d?artifice ! De temps en temps l?instrument solo présente une phrase humoristique : laclarinette ne peut pas que chanter briller et pleurer mais aussi rire et plaisanter. Robert Schumann wrote his Fantasy Pieces for clarinet and piano in the course of two days in February 1849. Only a few days later they were premiered by Clara Schumann and the Dresden clarinetist Johann Gottlieb Kotte. Initially choosing the title Soirée Pieces for his works, Schumann finally decided to have them published as Fantasy Pieces, thereby emphasizing their poetical aspects. These connotations are also at the centre of clarinetist Elisabeth Eichenberg's notes on interpretation with special reference to the contemporary aesthetics of the clarinet sound. The edition is based on the first edition published in 1849 and also incorporates subsequent corrections in Schumann's personal copy. The compositional manuscript that has survived served as an important corrective. Besides the original clarinet part in A the edition also includes a transposed part for the B clarinet in order to make these standard works of the Romantic clarinet repertoire available to a wider circle of the clarinet community. / Clarinette Et Piano

Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie is one of two concertante works completed premiered and published during his lifetime. He was commissioned to write it in 1909 for the final examination at the Paris Conservatoire in 1910. Debussy orchestrated it in the summer of 1911. While transferring the clarinet part from the already published version for clarinet and piano he made a few subtle changes particularly in m. 201 which has been a bone of contention among clarinettists for over a century.The present scholarly-critical publication is the first Urtext edition of the orchestral version. G.F.Handel's (1685-1759) Sonata In B Flat is well-known to the Oboe repertoire. Therefore when French clarinetist Emile Stievenard arranged the popular piece for the Clarinet it was very well-received. The Sonata In B Flat is made up of four movements; Adagio Allegro Adagio and Allegro. Handel's Sonata In B Flat was first published in 1707-10 for Oboe. Stievenard's editions ensure that the Clarinet part contains the articulation performance directions phrasing and breath marks necessary to the instrument. For all clarinetists thisarrangement of the popular Sonata In B Flat is essential.

French composer Robert Truillard published his Rêverie in 1986. The work remains popular for intermediate clarinettists. With a typical performance lasting around 2 minutes and 46 seconds  Rêverie is in Ternary Form with the 'B' section marked 'Scherzando' and containing a short cadenza passage. The solo Clarinet part makes use of variety in articulation tempo dynamics and phrasing amongst other aspects. For all aspiring intermediate clarinetists Truillard's Rêverie provides exciting alternative repertoire.

Clarinet Concerto in E flat major op. 1-This edition completes Henle's series of all three Clarinet concertos by the Swedish composer and clarinettist Bernhard Henrik Crusell. Issued in Leipzig in 1811 the Clarinet Concerto In E-FlatMajor Op.1 was Crusell's first published work but had definitely been composed several years prior to this. With its elegant head movement and the simple and moving Adagio it is probably the most“Mozartian” of all of his three concertos although the final rondo is reminiscent of Carl Maria von Weber. The editor and clarinettist Nicolai Pfeffer is now presenting this charming work betweenClassicism and Romanticism on the basis of the first edition. The Piano reduction wonderfully fits the hands and was prepared by Johannes Umbreit on the basis of the original orchestral parts.
