It also showcases Farr's highly engaging style of writing with beautiful lyrical passages and contrasting faster section that drive forward with propulsive energy and virtuosic intensity. The names of Michael Haydn's masses are associated either with a specific commission or with the composition's dedicatee. Thus, Haydn composed the Missa in honorem Sti. Gotthardi, also known as the Admont Mass, for the Admont Abbey located in the region of Styria, Austria, where Gotthard Kuglmayr was the Abbot. The mass combines formal concentration with liturgical function. The songlike melody, the unity of the motivic material, and the balanced harmony of solemn and lyrical passages show how intensively Haydn concerned himself with the genre. Due to its length and its orchestration the mass can be considered a type of missa solemnis. Fugues and fugal movements are completely missing from the Missa Admontis as is any kind of contrapuntal (including imitative) composition. Hodie Christus Natus Est by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck (1562-1621) is an extremely popular Renaissance a cappella choral work that has been transcribed for string orchestra. Although the work is usually associated with the Christmas season, it is a timeless piece that can be programmed at any time during the school year. The string parts mirror the voice parts, but are in the more comfortable key of G major, rather than the original B≤ major. String teachers may want to consult with their choral counterparts to determine if combining their groups might provide a unique experience for all of their students. All the string parts remain in first position. The work contains the less common alternating meters of ëand ò, and will provide students with insight into the unique rhythmic style of the Renaissance period. A piano part is included for rehearsal purposes.Performance suggestions: By listening to a recording of the original vocal performance and focusing on the lyrics, students will understand where to use a connected legato bowing style for running eighth-note passages and for the longer note durations, as expressed in the lyric “Ho-di-e, Ho-di-e†that alternates with a light detached style “No-e, No –e, No-e.†A most recent YouTube link is suggested here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2rAkZE5UU0. The melancholic tone of the Ney (the Persian bamboo flute) is known for its alluring sound, emulating the human voice. In Persian literature, the Ney is considered a mystic instrument capable of expressing deep human emotions. In writing my flute concerto, I aimed not only to highlight the modern flautist's ability to play agile and brilliant passages but also to emulate the delicate sound of the Ney, particularly in extended solo flute passages. Two prominent characters permeate the first movement of my concerto. They are marked in the score as lamentoso, and con spirito, expressing grief and loss, and joy of living respectively. The lament is mostly expressed in several extended cadenzas for solo flute while the con spirito consists of robust and energetic fast sections played by all forces of the orchestra. Apart from these two characters there are moments of mystery, comedy and the grotesque, among others. In the second movement, the lyrical and poetic character of the flute is prominently presented in dream-like passages surrounded by shimmering and tender orchestral colors. The solo flute is left out in an agitated middle section that references the first movement. In the third section of the movement the solo flute returns in meditative fashion culminating in a duet with the harp. The third movement is written as one continuous quasi scherzo, challenging the limits of agility and brilliance of the flute. Some of the materials from the earlier movements are presented again with joyous character. The coda elevates the concerto into its brightest and most festive character, driving to the end with relentless energy. | Concerto for Clarinet and Bass Clarinet Potenza Music
Clarinet, bass clarinet, piano SKU: P2.30141 Composed by Noah D. Taylor. ...(+)
Clarinet, bass clarinet, piano SKU: P2.30141 Composed by Noah D. Taylor. Concerto. Published by Potenza Music (P2.30141). The Concerto for Clarinet and Bass Clarinet was commissioned by a Potenza Music Publications Consortium and was written for Dr. Robert Spring and Dr. Mathew Miracle. The work was premiered by the duo at the 2014 International Clarinetfest. As a composer, Taylor has always sought to capture the exciting and sweeping qualities of orchestral and film music in his own works and the double concerto is no exception. Cast in three movements, thiswork not only showcases and challenges the soloists, but also provides the listener a captivating a memorable experience. The first movement of the work opens quietly and calmly as each of the clarinets are introduced. After the haunting introduction, a fun and quirky dance ensues, marked by flashy melodic lines and asymmetrical rhythms. This work allows the clarinetist to show off the fun character of the clarinet. The second movement starts with a slow and haunting treatment of the theme, but soon gives way to a passages that become more flowing and expressive version. This middle part of the concerto allowed Taylor to writepassionately and romantically, and unbound by traditional form. As the movement fades away, it is meant to lead the listener to the fiery third movement. The third movement bursts into the exhilarating and vigorous first subject, which features a thrilling rhythmic motif and interchange between the two soloists and accompaniment. As this scherzo-like movement develops, Taylor transforms the theme rhythmically driven passages followed by hauntingly lyric sections. As the piece builds, themes from the first movement return to tie the work together. At it's climax the Double Concerto ends with fiery virtuosity and powerful harmonic drive. $34.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The B theme at m. 17, enters quietly and features singing, legato lines and delicate accompaniment. The connected countermelodies in both the A and B sections should be balanced under the main melody. More instrtuments are added to the melody in m. 25, building to the return of the A theme in m. 33. The lower strings carry the C theme in m. 49, supported by tutti figures in the upper strings. All sections come together in m. 56 to a ritardando into the Maestoso section, setting up a grand ensemble statement in m. 57-58. UPC: 680160621743. 9 x 12 inches. Inspired by the alluring, human-like sound of the Ney (a Persian bamboo flute), Ranjbaran aims not only to highlight the modern flutist’s ability to play agile and brilliant passages, but also to emulate the delicate sound of the Ney, particularly in extended solo passages. The three-movement 27-minute concerto was commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra for its principal flutist Jeffrey Khaner. The piano reduction (published separately) was designed by the composer to be practical in recital performances. CONCERTO for Flute and Orchestra has been recorded for Naxos by Érik Gratton with the Nashville Symphony conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero. The melancholic tone of the Ney (the Persian bamboo flute) is known for its alluring sound, emulating the human voice.  In Persian literature, the Ney is considered a mystic instrument capable of expressing deep human emotions. In writing my flute concerto, I aimed not only to highlight the modern flautist’s ability to play agile and brilliant passages but also to emulate the delicate sound of the Ney, particularly in extended solo flute passages. $65.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Pfarreimusik Wünnewil-Flamatt requested a new work to be commissioned for the celebration of its 111th anniversary. They asked the composer to create a piece lasting approximately 11 minutes and 11 seconds. The band asked Jan Van der Roost to reflect on a number of aspects from the past, as well as the current state of affairs. The piece contains lyrical movements, cheerful and jubilant parts, as well as light introverted sequences. Fantasia Helvetica is a varied concert piece with a number of challenging passages, but is also fun to play!

| Trio [Score and Parts] Theodore Presser Co.
Chamber Music Flute, Horn, Piano SKU: PR.114424380 Composed by Eric Ewaze...(+)
Chamber Music Flute, Horn, Piano SKU: PR.114424380 Composed by Eric Ewazen. Sws. Score and parts. Theodore Presser Company #114-42438. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.114424380). ISBN 9781491138076. UPC: 680160693467. 18 x 12 inches. If you love playing Eric Ewazen’s flute sonatas or horn chamber music, or if you are fan of Brahms’s chamber music, then this exhilarating work is for you! Among Ewazen’s most performed works, the TRIO, inspired by the Brahms horn trio and originally for Violin, Horn, and Piano, has been adapted by the composer for Flute, Horn, and Piano. With a rollicking scherzo and beautiful melodic movements, this 21-minute work is a joy to play and to listen to. I’ve always been fascinated and inspired by chamber works offering several instrumental versions of the same piece, resulting in a new feel and color. One famous example is the great Franck Sonata, originally for violin and piano, and beautifully arranged for flute and piano by Jean-PIerre Rampal. Subsequently other versions of the piece were created for an array of instruments: cello, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and even tuba! Creating this flute version of my TRIO (flute replacing the original violin part), considered the range, allowing the flute to sometimes sing in a bright, higher register than the original violin part; passages where there were double stops in the violin now have arpeggiated figurations. The original scoring for Horn, Violin, and Piano was commissioned by and gratefully dedicated to Chamberosity, representing an homage to one of my favorite chamber pieces of all time, the Trio for Horn, Violin, and Piano by Brahms. Having both performed (on piano) and analyzed that work, I so loved Brahms’ wonderful weaving of the colors of the instruments, creating an almost orchestral color palette. For years I wanted to write a trio for the same combination, and when my friends in Chamberosity were enthusiastic about me writing that piece for them, I was delighted. The four movements are modeled after the Brahms, with a slow-fast-slow-fast scheme to the entire work. A gentle, somewhat mysterious first movement accumulates depth and momentum as it proceeds, only to return to the gentle world of the opening. The second movement is a rip-roaring scherzo, a true energetic dance with melodies tossed back and forth from the violin to the horn, while the piano provides a resonant accompaniment, inserting its own lively melodies as counterpoint to the violin and horn. The third movement is filled with melancholy, with long lyric melodies appearing sometimes as solos, sometimes as duets, and sometimes as a chorale with all three instruments singing their soulful songs. The final movement, following an austere, dramatic introduction, turns into a grand fugue, with a jumping fugue theme full of life and excitement, culminating in the themes heard in augmentation, strong and bold. $34.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
