Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1053805-010 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Arranged by Tohru Takahashi. Sovereign Series. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2005. De Haske Publications #DHP 1053805-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1053805-010). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. This piece attempts to portray atmospheric pictures through music. The opening section evokes the somewhat misty and hazy early morning atmosphere surrounding the ancient monument. When the band reaches its first dynamic climax it is as if the massive boulders are audible, even touchable through the use of minor 3rd chords. The main theme - constructed on the notes CAFBG symbolises the arrangement of the central boulders in the shape of a horseshoe, which forms the focal point of this huge collection of stones. Towards the end of the work you will experience a fantastic effect when five soloists play a five part hymn whilst other members of the band create a specialatmosphere by imitating a choir of monks and druids. A fantastic major new concert work for advanced bands.
$314.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The inspiration for this three-part work goes back to the International European Youth Wind Music Festival, of which the patron has been Jacob de Haan several times.
Fanfare Band and Solo - Grade 4 SKU: BT.AMP-029-020 Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Festive and Solemn Music. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2002. Anglo Music Press #AMP 029-020. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-029-020). Morning Song features the horn quartet mostly in a soloistic role - indeed there is an accompanied cadenza towards the end of the piece - but there are moments where the horns assume their conventional fanfare band role as harmonic support or playing the counter melody. This expressive composition shows all the versatility of the horn quartet and gives them the chance to be in the spotlight.
$201.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Fanfare Band - Grade 5 SKU: BT.DHP-1175781-020 The Unrevealed Story of Skelte van Aysma. Composed by Jan de Haan. Concert and Contest Collection Brass Band en Fanfare. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2017. De Haske Publications #DHP 1175781-020. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1175781-020). English-German-French-Dutch. Galea et Bellum was commissioned by the Excelsior Schraard music society (Friesland, the Netherlands). The work tells the story of a rare helmet that was discovered in a church in the Frisian village of Schettens in 2015. Research revealed that it had been the property of Skelte van Aysma, a Frisian officer who fought in the armies of the Princes of Orange Maurice and Frederick Henry during the Eighty Years’ War. This little piece of history was the starting point for this composition. As a leitmotif, the hymn ‘Ach wie flüchtig, ach wie nichtig ist der Menschen Leben’ (‘Ah, how fleeting, ah how insignificant’) has been used. This 17th century melody by Michel Franck, inan arrangement by Johann Sebastian Bach, initially appears only in fragments, but grows to full stature toward the end of the work. An ideal contest piece with lots of challenges for your band.
$275.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Dance of Uzume is a concertino that is based on a Japanese myth: out of anger toward her brother Susanowa, the storm god, the sun goddess Amaterasu hides in a cave. The goddess of joy, Uzume, succeeds in luring the sun goddess out of the cave by dancing wildly. The joy and laughter of the other gods as they watch Uzume arouses Amaterasu’s curiosity and with her appearance, the light on earth returns. This fantastic new original work will make a much needed addition to the advanced repertoire for saxophone and concert band. A version for saxophone and piano is also available.

Dance of Uzume is a concertino that is based on a Japanese myth. Out of anger toward her brother Susanowa (the storm god), Amaterasu (the sun goddess) hides in a cave. The goddess of joy, Uzume, succeeds in luring the sun goddess out of the cave by dancing wildly. The joy and laughter from the other gods as they watch Uzume arouses Amaterasu’s curiosity and with her appearance, the light on Earth returns. This fantastic new original work will provide a much needed addition to the advanced repertoire for saxophone and piano. It also comes with a demo CD played by the famous Japanese saxophonist Nobuya Sugawa showing you exactly how it should be performed.

Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-0981380-010). The new millennium inspires curiosity, optimism, and fear of the unknown. Belgian composer Johan Nij composed Millennium Fear to capture the uncertainty of this monumental event. The piece combines dynamic sounds, feverish rhythms, and surprising sound textures in the dialogues between different instrument groups. The piece expresses the thoughts and feelings many have toward the new millennium.
$110.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Composed 2017. 53 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1175781-120. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1175781-120).

Composed by Harrie Janssen. Score Only. 120 pages. Gobelin Music Publications #GOB 000963-140. Published by Gobelin Music Publications (BT.GOB-000963-140). This composition was based on the world-famous novel by the French author Jules Verne. This novel describes the attempt to reach the centre of the earth. The descent of the crater of the volcano called Snaeffels, situated in Iceland, marks thebeginning of this voyage to the sublunary world. The German geologist, professor Lidenbrock, is accompanied on this trip by his nephew Axel and an Icelandic guide named Hans. The last mentioned will be helpful in many occasions.
Dark colors & mist
The composer tried in this single work to give a musical expression to various significant moments from this novel. In the introduction he sketches an image of the dismal ambience on the island by using dark colors. Risingfragments of mist reveal the flanks of the monumental mountain Scataris. The composer tries to catch this image in a majestic and broad chorale.
Away from Iceland
Subsequently the ostinato rhythmicity and virtuosity representthe hectic descent of the crater of the volcano. The party descends ever more and more and travels south, away from Iceland. On the way, they see all kinds of rock formations, fossils and minerals. At a depth of thirty hours walking distance, atabout 150 kilometers below the surface, they reach a sub terrestrial sea which is called the Lidenbrock sea.
Genuine eruption of sounds
Strange electric manifestations and unpredictable weather conditions accompany thissingular phenomenon. An orchestral tutti-episode expresses this impression musically. On a make-shift raft, the party continues its voyage, heading to the south coast of this huge sea. Once ashore, an enormous rock obstructs the passage. The blowingup of this obstacle unleashes a genuine eruption of sounds in the orchestration.
Spat out by the volcano
But the explosion has an unforeseen side effect. The sea - travelers and raft included - is sucked upwards into a dark hole.Again, our heroes are accompanied on their involuntary voyage, while left to fend for themselves, by an ever increasing ostinato rhythmicity.
Before an irruption can destroy the raft, the threesome manages to escape and climb up through acave towards the daylight. They seem to be spat out by the Stromboli volcano on the island of Sicily, far from home. The composition ends with triumphant sounds that represent the scientific triumph of these adventurers.
$58.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

De Haske Publications #DHP 1175741-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1175741-140). English-German-French-Dutch. Contemplation is the first movement from the Clarinet Concerto by Jan Van der Roost, which was commissioned by Musica Reservata VOF, Belgium, and is dedicated to the famous clarinet soloist Eddy Vanoosthuyse. A slightly mysterious intro leads to an orchestral climax with ascending melodies and the entrance of the soloist. This occurs at first with fragmentary musical ideas, and then with longer melodic lines. The orchestra delivers the dialogue withthe soloist, and creates a fitting musical frame with a delicate and colourful instrumentation. Towards the end of the music, the atmosphere from the beginning is restored, and the soloist finishes on the same note that he started the piece on. The concerto is also available as a piano reduction.

The Resurrection Of The Soldiers for String Orchestra was commissioned by George Vass, to whom it is dedicated, and the English Symphony Orchestra, for the 2016 Presteigne Festival, with funds generously provided by the John S. Cohen Foundation and the Arts Council of England. The title derives from the final panel of Stanley Spencer’s Sandham Chapel visionary series of paintings which were the result of Spencer’s experiences in the British army in World War One and depicts soldiers emerging from their graves on the last day. Themusic is in three continuous sections: a slow, sustained introduction which is, in essence, a descent from the note E by means of a prolation canon, but which ascends to a rather intense climactic point before finally falling and giving way to an active fugue which, after arriving at an anguished, sustained climax, is succeeded by a closing slow movement consisting of a rising melodic line which permeates the entire texture heterophonically , leading to the closing E major triad. The work thus traces a cyclical pitch path which, while tracing a cyclical path, also develops expressively towards a sense of hope and resurrection. - Robert Saxton, April 2016. $15.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks
