"His Name So Sweet" from Crossing Jordan for clarinet, piano and cello
Instrumental Duet,Piano B-Flat Clarinet,Cello,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital …

Instrumental Duet,Piano B-Flat Clarinet,Cello,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284045 Composed by Spiritual. Arranged by Maria Thompson Corley. 21st Century,Chamber,Christian,Sacred,Traditional. 17 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #875217. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1284045). “Crossing Jordan†grew out of my daughter Kiana’s surprise request that I arrange a spiritual for voice, piano and cello for her senior recital. She received a degree in commercial music the year before COVID shut everything down, at a time before climate change made blizzards an anomaly here in Central PA. As a result, snow days still existed. I spent one of them doing the first draft of “Deep River,†her favorite.Later, I decided that if singers engage a cellist for a concert, they might like to program more than one piece for them, so I chose two more water-themed spirituals to complete the set. “His Name So Sweet†is a more meditative version of the song than I’ve generally heard. I wanted the piano, cello, and briefly the voice to imitate the fountain in the text. The mood is ecstasy, resulting from the fundamental change that baptism is meant to create. “Deep River†also includes “Michael Row The Boat Ashore†and “The Water Is Wide.†The latter isn’t a spiritual, however, taken together the message is that the river is deep, the water is wide, but with (the Archangel?) Michael’s help, Jordan can be crossed. “Wade in the Water†is one of the most well-known spirituals. I focus on the idea of escaping enslavement: the opening is quiet, furtive, maybe even nervous. The Moses in the text can be understood to be Harriet Tubman, who might urge escapees to wade in the water so pursuing dogs couldn’t follow their scent. In my mind, the ending symbolizes that the party has vanished, never to be enslaved again. The first instrumental version of “Deep River†was for trumpet and piano, performed by my sister, Alicia Thompson, and her son, Justin Griffin, during a church service in Atlanta shortly after I arranged it. After hearing a recording, I took borrowed her idea of adding a repeat (which she did to allow enough time for the ushers to take up collection). The clarinet, cello and piano version was premiered by the Isosceles Trio (Doris Hall-Gulati (clarinet), Sara Male (cello), and me (piano)). When Naima Burrs, violinist and conductor of the Petersburg Symphony, asked if I had any pieces for trio, I created a version for violin, piano and cello. The flute/piano/cello version may have been performed, but if so, nobody has mentioned it to me.

Medium Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077330 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Sherri D. Johnson. 20th Century,Contemporary,New Age. 8 pages. Kevin G. Pace #681507. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1077330). A beautiful vocal solo with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Sherri D. Johnson. Text: When I think of my childhood and all it did bring, (5, p.u. , 6-9) what I remember most is that you always would sing. (9-12) Through the good and the bad, the happy and sad, (13-14) no matter what happened you always did sing. (14-20) There were times I know it was hard for you. (21 pu, 22- There were many things that you had to go through. (23 pu, 24-25 I’m sure there were times when your strength was all gone, (25 pu, 26 and you felt it impossible for you to go on. (27 pu, to 29) Yet somehow within you there was always a song (30 pu, 31- ) that renewed your faith and helped you be strong. (to 37) I learned that no matter what life might bring, (38- it would all be okay if we could still sing. (to 45) I think of the journey you have valiantly fought ( and all of the lessons that to me you taught. You taught me to have faith in my Savior above; you have shown me how to truly love. (to 54) Chorus: You have blessed so many lives; you have touched our hearts. Many tears will be shed when from us you depart. Now your journey soon must come to an end, oh how I will miss you, my dear mother, and friend. (to 66) Yet my life will go on, more challenges to bring, but I’ll be okay, because you taught me to sing. Oh what joy you will feel as you look on his face, and kneel at his feet in that glorious place. (to 79) As you bask in his light he will say to thee, (82-85) “My Daughter, your life has been pleasing to me. (86-89) You kept the faith, you fought a good fight, now take my hand and enter into the light. (to 98) Then joining his angels your voice will ring, as to him your praises you bring. For in that great place, throughout eternity, with Heavenly choirs you will still sing.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1116976 By Kathy Mattea. By Buddy Greene and Mark Lowry. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Christmas. Score and parts. 13 pages. Derek Hasted #718616. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1116976). MARY DID YOU KNOW? - easy arrangement for 3 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This popular Christmas piece fits a guitar trio (or large ensemble) very well.I’ve made a key-change compared to the original, and the result is a piece full of familiar chord shapes and accessible to those with modest experience of guitar. The tune ventures up the neck (though much can be played in the lower positions if desired, so I haven’t forced a particular fingering on players of this part). The two accompaniment lines generate a wonderful stereo effect. In a large ensemble, it works well to keep Guitar 2 and Guitar 3 physically separate.I hope you enjoy playing this arrangement!

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734613 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary. Score and parts. 10 pages. Chicory Music #6671801. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734613). On October 15, 1951, the very first episode of the I Love Lucy show aired on CBS and became the most watched TV show in the U.S. for four of its seven-year run. Fun trivia about the opening theme song is that during the first season the show opened with their sponsor Philip Morris’ animation of stick figure cartoons of Lucy and Desi climbing down a pack of Philip Morris cigarettes. It was scored with Ferde Grofé’s Jr. The Grand Canyon Suite theme (a composition from 1931).From the second season onwards, the I Love Lucy signature tune we all know so well became the main theme, and one of the most recognizable pieces of music on the planet. It was written by composer Eliot Daniel who cranked it out in an afternoon as a favor to his old Coast Guard buddy Jess Oppenheimer, the show’s producer. Since Daniel still had another year under his exclusive contract to Fox, he asked Oppenheimer to keep his name out of it. Consequently his name does not appear on first or the second season TV credits for what became one of the most popular TV themes. Later, Daniel did seek credit and received royalties from syndicated reruns for the rest of his life. The lyrics were written by Harold Adamson for an episode in the third season in which Lucy believes everyone has forgotten her birthday. So of course Ricky saves the day after a near disaster. This arrangement for Trombone Quartet / Choir plus optional Acoustic Bass and Drum Set parts remains faithful to the original.Performance Time Approx. 1 minute 25 seconds

Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Drum Set,Piano,Tenor Saxophone,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.734622 Composed by Eliot Daniel. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Contemporary,Film/TV,Pop. 22 pages. Chicory Music #6690685. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734622). Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813678 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6473857. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813678). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Euphonium Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Bass Clef, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection, including a version for a Euphonium Quintet, written in Treble Clef, if you would prefer. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maesto.

Regis Bookshar #6473867. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813682). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Oboe Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for an Oboe Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, will continue to entertain bot.
