Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.992191 Composed by Kassidy-Rose McMahon. Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Score and part. 8 pages. Kassidy-Rose McMahon #4265011. Published by Kassidy-Rose McMahon (A0.992191). That’s What I Like was composed in December 2018. This piece, in simple quadruple time and in the alluring key of A minor, is to be played with great vigour, energy, and force. The pedagogical target of That’s What I Like is composition and improvisation. In the middle section of the music, the performer is required to compose or improvise a melody using the rhythm provided by the composer. The composer strongly encourages the performer to be as imaginative, creative, and expressive as they can be.

Flute,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035219 Composed by Piotr Tchaikovski. Arranged by James Strauss. Halloween,Hanukkah,Romantic Period,World. Score and part. 16 pages. James Strauss #5297983. Published by James Strauss (A0.1035219). Writing to his brother Modest on 18/30 January 1877, Tchaikovsky mentioned that the violinist Iosif Kotek had ordered a piece from him for a forthcoming concert. Four days later Kotek wrote to Tchaikovsky: Thank you in advance for the waltz; it will surely be wonderful, as is everything that you compose... this shall be a piece to impress everybody. In another letter from mid/late February, we read: Incidentally, about the waltz. Why force yourself if you are tired? Of course, I would be delighted and infinitely glad if you were to write the waltz, especially since it is for me. I am still very glad that you have even started to think about this.In the period from March to August, we find no further references to work on the Valse. But, given that in March and April, Tchaikovsky wrote his Fourth Symphony, and that in May he was completely absorbed in composing the opera Yevgeny Onegin, it is likely that by this time the Valse had already been completed. It seems that the waltz was partly or wholly orchestrated by Kotek after Tchaikovsky completed the version for violin with piano. This is suggested by two letters from Kotek to Tchaikovsky: in October 1878, the violinist reported to Tchaikovsky on an unsuccessful performance of the piece: Could my instrumentation be the reason that the waltz did not please?, and early in 1879 he wrote: I think that I badly orchestrated the Waltz ... what extraordinarily empty sounds!. None of Tchaikovsky's letters refer to the orchestration of the piece. Here for the very first time in aversion for flute and piano - I tried to not transcribe the violin part, but re-write the solo part as it was made for flute.

Flute,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.937710 Composed by Marcello, Benedetto. Arranged by Nick M Lacanski. Baroque. Score and part. 19 pages. Theupperstaff #543487. Published by theupperstaff (A0.937710). I like to call this series of arrangements – just the notes. Why? Because that’s exactly what you get. As a performer/instructor I longed for the day when I no longer needed to write over someone’s bowings, interpretations and fingerings.

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.582697 By Queen. By John Deacon. Arranged by Jeff Tincher. Rock. Score and part. 35 pages. Jeff Tincher #3478009. Published by Jeff Tincher (A0.582697). This is a C instrument and Piano arrangement of one of Queen's biggest hits. In the original key from their The Game and Greatest Hits CDs, great for any live venue. I like to arrange songs that are both great for the listener and fun for the performers. This arrangement allows the instrumentalists to do more than just play their instruments. The arrangement has instrumentalists stomp and handclap to simulate the heavy beat of the song at different points of the performance (the MP3 uses a concert bass drum for the sound of the stomp). Duration=3:31. Visit my websites: https://jefftincher.wixsite.com/sheetmusic, https://jefftincher.wixsite.com/music,https://www.facebook.com/jefftincherpublishing

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549224 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3468208. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549224). J. S. Bach BWV 508. Bist du bei mir Bach adapted this aria from a lost Stölzel opera called Diomedes. He changed the original orchestral instrumentation to soprano, strings, and continuo.  He also modified the voice-leading making it sound more like a Bach composition. The work appears as BWV 508 No. 25 in the Anna Magdalena Notebook No. 2.  Source Only a few remnants of the original opera have survived. Historians speculate that Anna Magdalena got the song from the Leipzig Opera after the bankruptcy of 1720. Chances are good, though, that the tune was a favorite of everyone in Leipzig at the time.  Lyrics When thou art near, I go with joyTo death and to my rest.O how joyous would my end be,If your fair hands      Would close my faithful eyes. - Unknown Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy are the St. John Passion, and indeed the Christmas Oratorio.  History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.  Voyager NASA launched two Voyager spacecraft in 1977. Onboard are phonograph records with sounds, music, and images of life on Earth. The purpose of the launch was to inform intelligent extraterrestrial life forms about conditions on Earth. The music on the disc is varied. There is Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky among others. However, because Bach is so important in our music history, it contains three times more Bach than all the others combined.

Flute,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549354 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas,Contemporary,Easter,Wedding. Score and part. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #3490015. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549354). This arrangement follows the original Bach prelude and so excludes the extra measure that Schwencke introduced in 1783. If you prefer the extra measure, please see Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria, Schwencke version for Alto Flute & Piano, S0.661753. The convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide an option for extended performance with minimal page turns for the accompanist. The duration with repeat is about 4:50. Score: 6 pages. Solo part: 1 page, piano part: 4 pages. Based on Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Well suited for church meditations or school programs or recital encores. Ave Maria Ave Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. The progression is from Bach’s Prelude No. 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier I. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer.  Style It seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. Â

Many people are unaware of, or have only vaguely heard about, the not especially dreaded pirate Chocolate Beard who specialised in raiding shipments of carob beans during the late sixteenth century. It was not recorded specifically that Chocolate Beard liked to sing but knowing that all pirates like a good sing-a-long after a bottle of rum or two, I am speculating that he and his crew on occasion probably crooned out Yo ho ho and a jar of carob-coated licorice drops - a tune worthy of any self-respecting pirate. Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1437015 By Milva. By Carlo Carunchio, Ennio Morricone, and Giuseppe Patroni Griffi. Arranged by Eileen Gilligan. 21st Century,Classical,Film/TV,Instructional,Traditional. Score and part. 9 pages. The Flautist #1017083. Published by The Flautist (A0.1437015). D'Amore Si Muore is an excellent way to practice words, expression and phrasing. In this case variations on “love you ” all the way through.Relates brilliantly to Melodious Studies number 11, 13, 14 and also 8.I am a big fan of playing slowly and having absolute control of everything I do down to the last detail and a melody like this is a great tool to practice this. I don’t believe one can play fast before control over slow playing and expression is mastered. Our most natural instrument is our voice . Singing and playing this melody is a terrific way to bridge the gap between the metal flute and one’s voice. The outcome is an amazing resonance ,musical quality in the tone and natural phrasing.Moyse was asked what he thought the French School of flute playing was and he answered” being able to sound like other instruments”. We have to start with the first port of call – our voice. The words you can use for phrasing are ” love you , love you , love you , love you, love you so.” “I really love you so much” ” I really love you so” etc all the way through . You can make up your own.It is worth singing and playing this through. By that I mean play 2 notes, sing 2 and play 2 all the way through without interrupting the musical flow, resonance and tone quality. Great for practising going between singing and playing quickly.Love was a favourite word of Moyse and Wibb. I see why!. It innately has so much expression, warmth, opens up the mouth and in Moyse’s words “scoops the last spoonful of mayonnaise from the jar. ” You definitely can’t say it with “an ugly nasal voice”- Moyse quote. The tone has to have life and expression. I hear so often soft playing as the player blowing softly but that gives such a dull lifeless outcome.

Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1021619 Composed by Tyler J. Holt. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 43 pages. TJHoltMusic #6134009. Published by TJHoltMusic (A0.1021619). Sonata for Flute and Piano, Op. 12 was written for and is dedicated to my friend, Natalie Smith. This sonata conveys different moods using various styles in each of the movements, all of which take some liberty and, at times, are vague with form. The first movement, inspired by Claude Debussy, uses a quasi mirror form, with the two motives connecting with a sudden yet seamless tempo change, which is supported by the driving rhythm in the piano, and a development in the middle of the movement. The second movement is a funeral march and is based on the chord progression built around the sustained B natural in the flute, which conveys a dreamlike atmosphere. As the progression transforms, there is an increasing sense of dread that unfolds until this feeling becomes primal before collapsing in on itself at the climax of the movement. From there, the progression returns more actively with, although not as strong as before, a sense of dread still present for the remainder of the movement. The movement is in ternary form (ABA), with a development in the first A section. The third movement is a more clearly defined rondo form and is based on themes that undergo subtle changes each time they return. Other themes include a recurring call and response between the treble and bass lines in the piano, which the flute participates in this exchange when it is presented again later, a reference to the second movement's progression, and a modal theme that floats in terms of harmonic and melodic structure. When the initial theme returns for the final time, a coda restates previous ideas as the finale gradually increases its tempo and concludes the piece. This movement is the most technically challenging, especially considering that I asked Natalie how fast she can double tongue. In general, there are a fair amount of high passages and big leaps. This was written with Natalie's skill set in mind.I. Moderato con gioiaII. Lamento sostenutoIII. ScherzoComposed by Tyler J. HoltPublished by TJHoltMusicCopyright © Tyler J. Holt, Composer.

Score and part. 17 pages. DR GARY D BELSHAW #5968179. Published by DR GARY D BELSHAW (A0.796761). For the Advanced Intermediate flautist. 5 pages. Duration: less than 4 minutes. In the key of E-flat Major, this arrangement is also available in the original key of E Major.First released as a single in 2012, Brave was included in josh's sixth album, All That Echoes and included in the All That Echoes World Tour. Groban says the song is about about rejuvenation. It is an anthem in the style of You Raise Me Up. Josh Groban's musical style is often placed in the classical category, so it was perfectly natural to take this tune a step further and design it for recitals, seminars, recruiting tours, and for the advanced players in one's studio. Your accompanist will like the way the pizzicato rhythmic figures in the string section have been fleshed out with notes on strong beats to help make the rhythm fit the hand better.Of course, it would be a great show-piece for social and civic events; its inspiring message would even serve in church-related functions. It may take a bit longer to get under the fingers, as anything worth showing off would demand. Keep your eye open for performance opportunities for social groups tackling issues like depression and self-image.Thank you for considering my work. I welcome your reviews or comments about it; I will honor any and all suggestions for improvement. Follow me on Facebook (Gary D. Belshaw Music) and Twitter (@GaryDBelshawMus) - I'll follow you back!

Flute,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548707 Composed by Martin Luther. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Easter,Instructional,Standards. Score and part. 4 pages. Jmsgu3 #3411715. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548707). Out of the Depths I Cry to You by Martin Luther arranged for alto flute & piano. The first verses feature modified counterpoint and harmony proceeding at quarter = 82. The final verse is reharmonized for maximum dramatic effect at a more contemplative tempo such as quarter = 64. Very powerful selection for Lent or Easter. Duration (3 verses) 3:05, 36 ms.Score: 3 pg. Solo part: 1 pg. The piano reads from the score. Out of the Depths Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (From deep affliction I cry out to you), is, of course, a hymn composed by Martin Luther. Moreover, Luther also wrote the lyrics, essentially a paraphrase of Psalm 130. First published in 1524, it is also one of eight songs in the original Lutheran hymnal. It appears likewise in many hymnals and in different translations. The lyrics furthermore stimulated compositions from the Renaissance to the contemporary. Consequently, composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach built an entire chorale cantata on it. Other composers similarly contributed pieces, such as Felix Mendelssohn and Max Reger. Luther Background Martin Luther, (1483 –1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, and moreover, an influential character in the Protestant Reformation. Luther had a momentous impact on church and society due to his contributions to the musical arts. He wanted to disseminate the gospel among mankind and with this intention thought that the best way to do that was through music. Influence It is important to realize that other musicians, and their descendants, were encouraged by Luther’s songs and wrote their own hymns. Luther, to be sure, had a thorough musical education. For example, he knew secular and sacred songs from an early age. He, in particular, played the lute well and sang in the monastery when he was a monk. That is to say, music was an essential part of his life. He in fact first began writing songs in 1523, sometimes writing the melody as well as the lyrics. Luther was certainly able to evaluate the composers of his time. He thought especially highly of Josquin des and Ludwig Senfl. He was also acquainted, with this in mind, with other composers and their works. Legacy The Lutheran musical ethos soon covered all of Germany and later significantly fashioned Protestant musical culture. Heinrich Schütz and Johann Sebastian Bach are the most compelling evidence of this Protestant musical culture. Additionally, as a point often overlooked, the pedal organ, first refined in northern Germany, became universally prevalent. As a matter of fact, Dieterich Buxtehude established a regular evening organ concert series in Lübeck. Another key point is that this concert series, in turn, spread North German Musical ideas worldwide. Luther was especially convinced that music is a beautiful and exclusive offering of the divine.

A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia arranged for Flute & Piano, Flautists will love this!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard. It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.

Published by Rebecca Maughan Cook (A0.1518328). Sonatina #3 is built around the idea of Frames. I have a painting created by my Great Grandmother of Daffodils. I look at that framed picture and can hear this first movement. The motif is a rhythm and interval that sounds like the word Daffodils. The Second movement is the typical Sonata Allegro form. Several years ago I composed some hymns and I used the themes from two of them to create this movement. The piano part is challenging and fast but beautfiul underneath the flute melody. The Third movement is the Frame of the Body. This movement has the notes going up and down with a pretty fun accompaniment. The flute part includes glissandi. Please listen to the recording.

I wanted the harmonic language to represent that feeling of openness, so I used a fifths language giving it that open feeling. I treated the circle of fifths almost like a tone row, drawing my harmonies and chords from sections of the circle and creating a melody directly from the reading the circle either clockwise or counter-clockwise.

Flute,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844534 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Concert,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. Score and part. 7 pages. Phil Beaman #3509005. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844534). In 1849 Robert Schumann completed a set of Romantic character pieces for piano which he named Forest Scenes. One of that set was called Pleasant Landscape, which I have freely arranged for accompanied Instrumental Solo. I have slowed it down considerably from the original and marked it with passionate energy. The beauty and interest is created by the shaping and phrasing of this beautiful melodic line. It has a rubato feeling throughout with constant tempo changes like rall, molto rall, freely, accel, etc. In keeping with the characteristics of the Romantic period my arrangement is full of interpretive marks in every measure making it a great piece for auditions to show your technique and interpretation. Not too difficult to play but sounds quite advanced when all details are observed. The equally beautiful piano part provides great interplay of expressive harmony and countermelody. A beautiful piece to show your expressive musicianship and impress them in either concert or audition. Marked Intermediate due to the plethora of markings to observe, musicianship that is required for a mature performance, and a 2 octave range that will push the limits of some instruments.3:10 minutes, 5 page score, 2 page solo partTemporary recording of a piano reduction of total score.
