The Best Hymns of All Time (for Wind Instruments) Book 3
Concert band
Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522172 Composed by Various. Arran…

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522172 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 138 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #5726785. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522172). Here’s a terrific collection of sixty of the best-loved hymns ever composed. The hymns are scored in four parts and could be used with virtually any combination of conventional wind instruments. They are presented in a set of three books and include full four-part instrumental scores plus separate parts in a variety of useful transpositions. Parts 1 and 2 (soprano and alto) are provided in B flat, E flat and C (8ve higher than concert); Part 3 (tenor) in B flat (9th above concert), E flat, F and C (bass clef) and Part 4 (bass) in B flat, E flat and C. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible. It could be used as the basis of an accompaniment and means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. The piano part too means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. These arrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. This is essential music for schools and many churches and contains probably all the hymns you’ll ever need. The entire collection of scores and parts is presented in a single 138-page PDF file for instant download. Book 3 contains the following twenty popular hymns: All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name (Miles Lane); All things Bright and Beautiful (Bright and Beautiful); Alleluia, Sing to Jesus (Hyfrydol); Blessed Assurance (Assurance); Come, Ye Thankful People, Come (St George’s Windsor); Father, Hear the Prayer we Offer (Sussex & Gott Will's Machen); For the Beauty of the Earth (Dix); Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken (Austrian hymn); How Firm a Foundation (Foundation); Jesu, Lover of my Soul (Hollingside); Jesus Loves Me, This I Know (Jesus Loves Me); Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee (Hymn to Joy); Kum Ba Yah (Afro-American folksong); Mine Eyes have Seen the Glory (Battle Hymn of the Republic); O God, Our Help In Ages Past (St. Anne); Morning has Broken (Bunessan); Praise to the Lord the Almighty (Lob den Herren); Shall We Gather at the River? (Hanson Place); The God of Abraham Praise (Leoni); When Peace Like a River (Ville du Havre). The music has been set in wind-friendly keys and the arrangements are compatible with the brass collection of the same name. They are not compatible with the string collection of the same name.

Tears of the Heliad for solo viola and piano

Piano,Viola - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.771527 Composed by David F Wainwright. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and part. 15 pages. D F Wainwright #4346451. Published by D F Wainwright (A0.771527). In Greek mythology the Heliades were seven nymph daughters of the sun-god Helios. When their brother Phaethon was struck from the chariot of the sun by Zeus, they gathered around his smoky grave on the banks of the River Eridanos and in their unrelenting grief were transformed into poplar-trees and their tears fell into the river and became drops of golden amber. Having originally written a piece representing Phaethon's chaotic charge around the heavens and his destruction by Zeus as a viola solo for my daughter, Penelope, for her second year performance at University, we decided that I should follow the story to it's (rather beautiful) ending with this longer piece for her degree performance. It is a piece which is of professional performance standard, lasting around 11 minutes

Songs and Dances from Another Time (Suite 1) (Elementary piano solos)

Piano Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522203 Composed by Colin Kirkpatrick. Concert,Instructional,Standards. Score. 12 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3410943. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522203). Youngsters are sure to enjoy these tuneful pieces, crafted especially for the young learner. The music follows on from the much easier pieces in The River at the End of Day. They are ideal for elementary pianists, but of course could be used with beginners of all ages. More experienced students will find them ideal and enjoyable sight-reading exercises or to develop the useful skill of transposing at sight. The colorful pieces are arranged in approximate order of difficulty, so you can feel free to pick and mix according to the needs of the students. Most of the pieces use eighth notes (quavers), quarter notes (crotchets), half notes (minims) and whole notes (semibreves). Each piece takes up just one page. With attractive melodies and interesting harmonies several of them could be strung together to create a suite for a student recital. Many of the fingerings are provided but sometimes the choice of fingering is left for the teacher and student to decide. For more advanced students, these pieces can serve a useful function either as sight-reading exercises or for transposing at sight, a skill that is sometimes neglected. The sample audio clip contains the following pieces from the collection: (1) Dance to the Rising Sun; (2) Song of the Tree Spirits; (3) Mountain Dance; (9) Hymn to the Stars and (10) Night Dance.

"Deep River" from Crossing Jordan, - B flat instrument, piano and cello

Instrumental Duet,Piano B-Flat Clarinet,Cello,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284510 Composed by Spiritual. Arranged by Maria Thompson Corley. 21st Century,Chamber,Sacred,Spiritual,Traditional. 8 pages. Maria Thompson Corley #875683. Published by Maria Thompson Corley (A0.1284510). “Crossing Jordan†grew out of my daughter Kiana’s surprise request that I arrange a spiritual for voice, piano and cello for her senior recital. She received a degree in commercial music the year before COVID shut everything down, at a time before climate change made blizzards an anomaly here in Central PA. As a result, snow days still existed. I spent one of them doing the first draft of “Deep River,†her favorite.Later, I decided that if singers engage a cellist for a concert, they might like to program more than one piece for them, so I chose two more water-themed spirituals to complete the set. “His Name So Sweet†is a more meditative version of the song than I’ve generally heard. I wanted the piano, cello, and briefly the voice to imitate the fountain in the text. The mood is ecstasy, resulting from the fundamental change that baptism is meant to create. “Deep River†also includes “Michael Row The Boat Ashore†and “The Water Is Wide.†The latter isn’t a spiritual, however, taken together the message is that the river is deep, the water is wide, but with (the Archangel?) Michael’s help, Jordan can be crossed. “Wade in the Water†is one of the most well-known spirituals. I focus on the idea of escaping enslavement: the opening is quiet, furtive, maybe even nervous. The Moses in the text can be understood to be Harriet Tubman, who might urge escapees to wade in the water so pursuing dogs couldn’t follow their scent. In my mind, the ending symbolizes that the party has vanished, never to be enslaved again. The first instrumental version of “Deep River†was for trumpet and piano, performed by my sister, Alicia Thompson, and her son, Justin Griffin, during a church service in Atlanta shortly after I arranged it. After hearing a recording, I took borrowed her idea of adding a repeat (which she did to allow enough time for the ushers to take up collection). The clarinet, cello and piano version was premiered by the Isosceles Trio (Doris Hall-Gulati (clarinet), Sara Male (cello), and me (piano)). When Naima Burrs, violinist and conductor of the Petersburg Symphony, asked if I had any pieces for trio, I created a version for violin, piano and cello.

She danced with a theatrical troupe and then became a teacher and journalist. She bore a child out of wedlock and found herself working as a single mother during socially oppressive times. In Buenos Aires she joined the emerging world of women’s rights, becoming an important literary voice in the movement. When her breast cancer returned, her lifelong passion for the sea culminated in her suicide off of the coast of Argentina. RÃo de La Plata en lluvia from Mascarilla y Trébol (1938) lines 1-4 by Alfonsina Storni in the public domain Ya casi el cielo te apretaba, ciego, y sumergida una ciudad tenÃas en tu cuerpo de grises heliotropos neblivelado en su copón de llanto. [The sky was about to embrace you, blind, and you had in your body of gray heliotropes a submerged city, with the misty sky like a chalice about to overflow with tears.] Program note: Commissioned for Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale of Naperville, Illinois, La ciudad sumergida (The Submerged City) by Adrienne Inglis for four-part treble chorus with nature soundtrack captures the mood of a river, a city, the cloudy sky, and the poet’s own profound melancholy. The sound of rain creates both the ambiance of a misty day on the river and the sensation of cathartic crying from great sadness and pain. The city’s reflection on the river’s surface gives the illusion that the city is submerged in the water. The reflection of the clouds hovering low over RÃo de La Plata looks like gray heliotrope flowers. The apocalyptic images of a submerged city and of tears overflowing from the chalice-sky eerily foreshadow rising sea levels due to anthropogenic global warming. The nature soundtrack of rain was recorded by the composer in the hill country of central Texas, July 2020. Performance note: This aleatoric, asynchronous composition is suitable for remote singing along with the video score and nature soundtrack. Observe the order of entrances, but know that it’s not meant to line up exactly. Finish a phrase even if another phrase has started. Diphthongs move immediately to the second vowel sound. Ya begins with the [dÊ’] sound and llanto begins with the [Ê’] sound, both typical of the Buenos Aires accent. Sing quite expressively except for the neblivelado section which is misty and veiled. The director may wish to indicate the rehearsals numbers or the singers may follow the time on the video-or both. Duration: 3:08 Link to video with soundtrack is available from the composer (http://adrienneinglis.com). Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Pablo and Diana Donatti, Ãngeles RodrÃguez Cadena, and Emilio Torres for their contributions to this project and to Dr. Ramona M. Wis and the North Central College Women’s Chorale for the generous commission. Copyright © 2020 Adrienne Inglis | http://adrienneinglis.com

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870387 Composed by Randy A. Steinberg. Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 181 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1932601. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870387). This work commemorates the founding and settlement of the western United States. The piece consists of a number of musical episodes that evoke key historic milestones that took place as the west developed and grew over time. The work opens with a fanfare tribute to the mountains and valleys that were first seen by those arriving there. The fanfare starts out majestically and leads into a chorale tune that evokes the calmness of the river and the greenery around it. The clock then moves to a later time when the area was settled by bands of Indian tribes, dwellings and villages. This then melds into tribal life along the river and growth of the Indian culture. Suddenly, the sound of Indian raiding tribes is heard. This then settles down and Pioneer Wagon Trains are heard heading west, their wheels stumbling through mud and rock. In comes the U.S. Calvary. Trumpet calls are heard as the Calvary advances and eventually overcome the Indians, pushing them out of the west. The choral tune heard earlier is brought back which then leads to the sounds of the first trains heading west. As more and more trains arrive, the sound of towns and cities sprouting up is heard. At this point, the music gains momentum as more and more settlers arrive. Dance hall music can suddenly be heard followed by a segment that evokes the building of farms and raising of livestock. The music picks up into the 20th century culminating in a grand return of the opening River Valley fanfare heard at the start of the piece. A popular piece that resonates well with audiences bringing them a spirit of renewal and hope that they will find most uplifting.

Yap Voon Yee #5792505. Published by Yap Voon Yee (A0.982015). The River is an instrumental pentatonic Chinese piece with traditional instruments such as the erhu, dizi and guzheng zither. The music is about the flow of a river from its source to its destination. You can substitute western instruments for the Chinese ones if the Chinese ones are not available. The tune is based on the Hakka Hill Song traditional Mother Tune, called Baban. This is a good introduction to Chinese folk music for intermediate to higher-level players. The tune when played at the indicated tempo is about 2:30 long. The MP3 version is produced from the music using Muse score. Muse score does not have all the Chinese instruments and therefore some are just approximations. This PRO is APRA and the ISRC is AURRZ2000023.You can read more about Yap Voon Yee’s music, and purchase some tracks at the following places.Blog - https://yewenyi.net/wp/yapvoonyee/You Tube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK49y6ed3NHl8OLWvQ721IgBandcamp - https://yapvoonyee.bandcamp.com

Small Ensemble,Strings High Voice,Low Voice,Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.923200 Composed by Denny Glasscock. Christian,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 17 pages. Denny Glasscock #6054255. Published by Denny Glasscock (A0.923200). A new and different rendition of a very old and beloved christian hymn. After an instrumental introduction, based on the refrain from the original hymn by Robert Lowry (1864), the newly composed verses begin with a musical theme meant to represent flowing water in a rippling river or stream. The original lyrics are adapted for all five verses and the refrain. The first verse is followed by the refrain, adapted from the original hymn. After that the refrain follows verses 3 and 5. The song ends on the final refrain, as the tempo slows and the flowing water theme ends. The vocals start out unison, but quickly divide out to three parts, all in a comfortable range. The melody in the verses shifts from soprano to alto, just before it gets too low for some sopranos. However altos or baritones could probably sing the melody, as the highest notes are likely still contained within their upper range. Thus the piece could be performed as a solo for altos or baritones. Though the melody shifts, a bit, from soprano to alto, it is easily heard in continuity. Thus, intuitively, the audience, or congregation, will clearly hear the melody, and be easily able to sing along. The Lead Sheet (with chord symbols) and scores provided here, contain the three vocal parts, violin, viola and piano. With the chord symbols provided, add guitar, bass, etc. As you listen to the example provided, you will hear a string trio playing in the accompaniment, along with the piano. The violin, viola and violoncello adds a nice dimension to the accompaniment sound. A digital recording of this accompaniment is also available by this publisher; see item number S0.870603. The chorus quotes the heavenly voice, This is my Son in whom I am well pleased. Then the vivid text shifts the focus to a baptism of a child of God on this day, and now the Holy Spirit seems to say: This is my child in whom I am well pleased. This is my child who comes to follow me.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1239681 Composed by David M. Stewart. March. 15 pages. DMStewart Music #835072. Published by DMStewart Music (A0.1239681). This piece, The Palatka Port March, is intended to depict a little of the sense of life in the early years of Floridaon the St. John’s River. It was once a target for ships venturing out to find the New World. It has been used to ferrybarges and livestock. Some simply used it for sailing and transportation throughout the years, and some to catch fishto provide for themselves. The life on this river has been diverse, yet fulfilling over the years and will continue to beso in the future. The melodies in this piece were taken from the shape of the St. Johns River from its upper point in Jacksonville, to where our part of the story ends in Palatka. Notice the falling and rising 8th note runs at the beginning, thisrepresents the rise and the fall of the river as it enters Jacksonville from the Atlantic Ocean. The first strain is alinear, yet very regal melody where the heavy beats follow the contour of the river as it runs south. Here you canpicture the ships coming from Europe across the ocean and the excitement they felt when they reached it. Thesecond strain is more playful and represents the life that the river has provided for people for centuries. The Triorepresents the calmness and civility when Palatka was discovered, and the happiness the settlers must have feltknowing they had found their perfect place to call home. The break strain represents the hard work and efforts thatwere put forth to secure the land and build a community. There would have been many triumphs and manysuccesses, but the journey would have not been easy. The final strain is the culmination of the piece. This is thecelebration and the feeling of personal nobility that all of the settlers felt after taking a river and dirt and building acity. I hope you enjoy, The Palatka Port March!

Instrumental Solo,Tin Whistle - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160459 By Andy Williams. By Henry Mancini and Johnny Mercer. Arranged by Cindy Blevins. Film/TV,Pop,Standards. Individual part. 10 pages. Cindy Blevins #760739. Published by Cindy Blevins (A0.1160459). Note: You can see an excerpt of both the solo without fingerings and the solo with fingerings. The blank pages you may see in the samples are there on purpose to avoid showing more than the music sample. This arrangement is for solo (unaccompanied) Tin Whistle. You receive the tin whistle part without fingering diagrams, the same part but WITH fingering diagrams and a comprehensive fingering chart for your tin whistle. So if you enjoy playing the notes on the staff, there is a part for you! And if you need the diagrams for learning, or for using every time, there's a part for you! Tin whistle isn't just for Irish music, it is extremely versatile and fun to play! Please note, my Tin Whistle is a high D. I write for D whistle because it is a very common key that many people have. The fingering chart I put together shows the D scale, with chromatic fingerings you may need some day! But if you're playing a different key of whistle, you can also play this piece. It is unaccompanied, and all keys of tin whistle are fingered the same. So follow the part with diagrams if you need to.If you have a pianist in your life, there is a piano and tin whistle arrangement of this piece listed separately (I am not allowed to bundle them for reasons of copyright).

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774724 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 14 pages. Sandra Milliken #3873279. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774724). The Old Palmer Song is a favourite Australian folk song that is meant to be sung in a rollicking style that reflects the excitement and anticipation of hardy Australian colonials setting out in search of gold. Following hard on the heels of the great California gold rushes (1848 – 1855) came the discovery of payable quantities of gold in Australia. The first gold rush in Australia began in New South Wales in May 1851 after prospector Edward Hargraves discovered gold near Orange, at a site he called Ophir. Other discoveries quickly followed, including those at Ballarat and Bendigo in the colony of Victoria. Then came Rosewood and Gympie (1867) in Queensland; the Gawler region in South Australia in 1868; and Halls Creek (1885), Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie (1893) in Western Australia. One of Australia’s richest alluvial goldfields was that of the Palmer River in far north Queensland. The rush to the Palmer began in 1873 and lasted for about three years. The goldfields were nearly 100 miles inland from the small coastal settlement of Cooktown and the early prospectors had a hard time of it just getting to the field. Leaving Cooktown they crossed the coastal mangroves, then on through dense tropical rainforest, into the more open eucalypt forest beyond and then across the dry, inhospitable and rugged country of the hinterland dissected by wide and deep rivers. And always there was the risk of meeting with fierce resistance from the Aborigines whose tribal land they were travelling through. At the height of the rush there were around 35,000 prospectors on the Palmer (including a great many Chinese). By the time the rush was over, the Palmer had yielded over 100 tons of gold! The Old Palmer Song is set to the tune of Ten Thousand Miles Away, a shore ballad/sea shanty that probably originated in Ireland in the early 19th Century.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1123845 Composed by Christian Parkess. Arranged by Christian Parkess. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score. 12 pages. CAP Music #724597. Published by CAP Music (A0.1123845). A brooding and sometimes brilliantly sparkling Lied style art song for piano and soprano vocal. The English lyrics, translated from the German Goethe poem of the same name, are from the perspective of a cadaver floating down a river at night after jumping off of a bridge to her death because of unrequited love. The lyrics are simultaneously directed toward the moon, the river, and her love interest. Each verse is followed by a piano ritornello that sets up the key and feel of the following verse. The highest pitch for the soprano is a D6, which is led to by step. This beautiful and challenging piece is appropriate for intermediate to advanced musicians.
