VII:2 de Haydn il s?agit du premier violoncelle de l?orchestre du prince Esterh?zy Anton Kraft qui devint par la suite l?un des plus grands virtuoses de Vienne. Cette ?uvre de circonstance devint par la suite un chef-d??uvre pour l??ternit? dont est parvenue ? la post?rit? une partition autographe de la main du compositeur dat?e de 1783. Pour la publication de la r?duction pour piano de ce concerto nous avons eu le plaisir de collaborer avec la sp?cialiste de Haydn Sonja Gerlach. Cette derni?reenrichit l??dition urtext d?une pr?face d?taill?e o? elle aborde notamment le sujet de la r?alisation des ornements et celui des cadences reproduites.

Op. 109-This standard work of the cello literature has been extracted from volume II of the Complete Works for Violoncello and Pianoforte (BA 9096 and BA 9097) which was published in 2016. Mendelssohn scholar R. Larry Todd edited the scholarly-critical edition of “Song without Words”.This work is not based on the surviving autograph manuscript which could not have been the basis for the posthumous first edition but rather on the only plausible source: the German first edition itself. This was published in 1868 as op. 109 and is unquestionably based on an untraceable complete final manuscript perhaps once previously owned by the dedicatee French cellist LisaBarbier Cristiani.The publication is free from editorial amendments and modern performance instructions and provides an excellent basis for musical interpretation.

Créateur, entre autres, du 1er concerto pour violoncelle de Prokofiev et chambriste de premier plan, notamment au sein d'un inoubliable trio constitué avec Hephzibah et Yehudi Menuhin, Maurice Gendron (1920-1990) fut un Maître, qui, par son talent reconnu internationalement, ajouta sa « voix » singulière à d'autres figures légendaires de l'école française de violoncelle, telles qu'André Navarra, Pierre Fournier ou Paul Tortelier. Son vif intérêt pour la création, tout comme ses recherches sur les compositeurs du passé laissèrent une grande trace dont témoignent également son interprétation et son édition en 1954 du Concerto en Ré majeur de Haydn dans la version originale, ainsi que la publication du premier Concerto op. 5 de Davidoff sous sa supervision aux Éditions Billaudot. Aujourd'hui, nous parviennent six transcriptions inédites pour violoncelle et piano réalisées par Maurice Gendron dans les années 1960-70 et revues par l'un de ses plus brillants élèves, Walter Grimmer. L'autographe de cette sonate, composée en 1789, a été initialement existante en Bückeburg sous le titre de ' Sonate per il Cembalo o piano-forte et obligato Violoncello' mais a été perdu dans la seconde guerre mondiale. La version publiée ensuite était simplement une version sensiblement révisée qui avait été transposée à ré majeur. Notre nouvelle édition reconstruit état d'origine son (en la majeur), tenant compte des principes communs performance pratique d'articulation et de la dynamique.
