'Klassik für Kinder' wants to introduce clarinet pupils to the beauty of Baroque, Classical and Romantic concert literature. Cautiously, not only original clarinet literature was taken up, but catchy tunes and themes from the opera (The Freeshooter, The Magic Flute and others) and the concert hall (Four Seasons, Capriccio Italy, Reverie and others) were used as well. The edition starts with a piece from the Renaissance period, followed by the great composers of the Baroque, European Classical and Romantic eras and completed by several discoveries off the common concert programmes (Blasius, Reinagel, Sullivan). Four centuries of music history which will make the pupils enjoy classical music. The pieces are presented in easy arrangements and can be mastered after about two years of tuition, with the three-line octave being left out. Contenu - V. The Concerto In F Minor For Clarinet And Orchestra is a fine work with a certain dark tone to music (emphasised by the minor key in which it has been written) composed by Bernhard Henrik Crusell (1775-1838). Crusell's work shows some affinity with Beethoven. This version is for clarinet with piano accompaniment (orchestral reduction). The solo clarinet part is also included on a separate insert.

Composed in 1956 by Bohuslav Martinu the Sonatina for Bb Clarinet and Piano is a neo-classical piece. This work to be played as a single movement has been written in three different sections: Moderato Andante and Poco Allegro. The rhythms are reminiscent of a Polka and a March and the piece contains unexpected syncopation. Being one of Bohuslav Martinu‘s later works it was written in New York after he spent some time in Paris. Bohuslav Martinu (1890-1959) was a Czech composer and a violinist. Even though he was interested in different style including Romanticism Jazz and Expressionism he wrote mainly neo-classical pieces including 16 symphonies 14 ballets and 15 operas.
