'Klassik für Kinder' wants to introduce clarinet pupils to the beauty of Baroque, Classical and Romantic concert literature. Cautiously, not only original clarinet literature was taken up, but catchy tunes and themes from the opera (The Freeshooter, The Magic Flute and others) and the concert hall (Four Seasons, Capriccio Italy, Reverie and others) were used as well. The edition starts with a piece from the Renaissance period, followed by the great composers of the Baroque, European Classical and Romantic eras and completed by several discoveries off the common concert programmes (Blasius, Reinagel, Sullivan). Four centuries of music history which will make the pupils enjoy classical music. Edward Gregson completed Tributes in the summer of 2010. Lasting some 16 minutes there are five pieces in the set each dedicated to a different composer and a different clarinettist (with whom Gregson had long musical associations). Each of the dedicatee composers wrote wonderfully for the Clarinet and as a tribute to them Gregson tried to invade indeed imitate their stylistic worlds in these pieces.They are as follows:To Francis Poulenc (for Emma Johnson) a rather dreamy toccata lyrical in feel but interrupted by typically quirky and disruptive rhythmic episodes.To Gerald Finzi (forJohn Bradbury) slow and lyrical with long melodic arches.To Igor Stravinsky (for Linda Merrick) asymmetric rhythms dominate with wide leaps in the solo line and bitonal harmony on the Piano.To Olivier Messiaen (for Nicholas Cox) based on the ravishing slow movement for Cello in his Quartet for the End of Time a seamless melody is woven around ever-changing repeated chords on the Piano.To Béla Bartók (for Michael Collins) the most virtuoso of the set; after a slow introduction a swirling folk-like dance unfolds mirroring Bartok?s penchant for simple modal shapes and ostinati rhythms.

An Album For Clarinet In Bb and Piano-'This album was inspired by the wedding of our daughter Tess.' The Wagner and Mendelssohn are of course popular at weddings and the slow movement of the Mozart concerto creates a beautiful ambience.My own piece 'Wedding Bells' conveys a celebratory loving and joyous atmosphere and 'on the big day' I played it during the signing of the register accompanied by the father of the bride - it was an emotional performance!These arrangements are intended to catch the mood: purists please forgive me - Wagner Mozart and Mendelssohn may not have written every note here but I hope that they would approve.

Revised Edition - Based on Manuscript Sources-The 'Sonata for Clarinet and Piano' was Bernstein's first published composition. Sources for this new revised edition were Bernstein's pencil manuscripts of the clarinet and piano score as well as the separate clarinet part. Every detail of the sonata has been carefully prepared and reconsidered. The enharmonic note spellings in the clarinet part are different from the previous edition of the sonata and are likened more closely to that of the first published edition. The result is a fresh look at one of the most important and beloved pieces of twentieth century clarinet repertoire.

Par XIAO XINZHOU. Duet for Clarinet and Piano 'Subconscioius light' by XIAO Xinzhou. From the composer: 'The word 'subconscious' came from the book 'The Aesthetic Unconsciousness' by Jacques Rancière. The 'light' of this piece comes from an accidental feeling that I try to grasp but is elusive... It seems that neither 'subconscious' nor 'light' can directly feel its concrete existence in music, and the connection between them seems indistinctive or ambiguous. To express the feeling of the relationship between these two concepts in my mind, I used my work to compose a world, deconstructed, extracted and reconstructed the integer multiple harmonics of note D in the writing process, therefore, condensing them into the pitch material of this piece and cast them on the dynamic textures. These textures take a large portion of the whole music, constantly evolving under control, which can be viewed as the intention of grasping something. Edited for the first time based on the autograph.The only wind instrument for which Felix Mendelssohn wrote any solo works is the Clarinet. This Sonata written by a young Mendelssohn is genuine chamber music: the Clarinet and Piano are both used equally as a melody and an accompaniment instrument. The various playing characteristics of the Clarinet are not fully exploited; instead Mendelssohn focuses more on the cantabile character of the instrument.

This wonderful piece's inspiration is found in the visual and auditory intricacies of rivers as they evolve from rivulets and continually fluctuate between waterfalls violent rapids and tranquil pools as the terrain changes. The piano presents a constant flowing motion that is placid and lyrical in some passages while spirited and syncopated in others. The clarinet presents a bold awakening introductory gesture and weaves in and out of the musical fabric as the piece moves forward.

Janá ek (Series E/1 2).The Israeli clarinetist Shirley Brill who teaches at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin has arranged the work for her instrument with a sensitive ear for the sound quality of the original composition. Her version displays the specific potential of the Clarinet to good advantage; in a few passages it proved necessary to adapt the Piano accompaniment.The arrangement was commissionedfor the International Janá ek Competition 2014 in Brno (Czech republic).
