Contemporary Italian-French composer Armando Ghidoni brings together influences of both Italy and France in his music. Also as an expert on jazz the harmonies and rhythms of the composer's works reflect a huge diversity Jazzy Celtic Suite for Clarinet and Piano or Harp being no exception. Ghidoni is significant within the contemporary French music school and his works are regularly chosen as set pieces for leading national and international competitions. This nocturne was one of a set of six composed for the second wedding of the Duke of Nassau which were published simultaneously as sets of duos or solo pieces for Violin Cello clarinet or concertina with harp or Pianoaccompaniment. Charles Oberthür was a celebrated harpist during his long career in the 1800?s most of which he spent in Britain. Besides being a distinguished instrumentalist Oberthür was a prolific composer creating morethan two hundred works.

Six easy pieces. Par MULLER IVAN. Ivan Müller was born in Reval in Russia (now Tallinin, Estonia) on 3 December 1786 and died in Bückeburg (Germany) in 1854. In 1808/09 he performed widely as a clarinet virtuoso - in Berlin, Leipzig, Wien, Paris and many other places where he also presented the new ?clarinette omnitonique? in B flat which he had invented. The system of keys in use in Germany to this day is based on Müllers invention. As a composer Müller was an exponent of the early Romantic style and wrote numerous concertos for his chosen instrument as well as this Serenade for Clarinet and Piano (or Harp or Guitar). In these pieces, the hauntingly lyrical tone of the clarinet combined with piano accompaniment creates a unique musical setting. The songs were drawn from the works of Stephen Foster, Sacred Harp shape-note themes, 19th-century folk songs as well as colonial fife and drum music. 'Klassik für Kinder' wants to introduce clarinet pupils to the beauty of Baroque, Classical and Romantic concert literature. Cautiously, not only original clarinet literature was taken up, but catchy tunes and themes from the opera (The Freeshooter, The Magic Flute and others) and the concert hall (Four Seasons, Capriccio Italy, Reverie and others) were used as well. The edition starts with a piece from the Renaissance period, followed by the great composers of the Baroque, European Classical and Romantic eras and completed by several discoveries off the common concert programmes (Blasius, Reinagel, Sullivan).
