'Klassik fĂĽr Kinder' wants to introduce clarinet pupils to the beauty of Baroque, Classical and Romantic concert literature. Cautiously, not only original clarinet literature was taken up, but catchy tunes and themes from the opera (The Freeshooter, The Magic Flute and others) and the concert hall (Four Seasons, Capriccio Italy, Reverie and others) were used as well. The edition starts with a piece from the Renaissance period, followed by the great composers of the Baroque, European Classical and Romantic eras and completed by several discoveries off the common concert programmes (Blasius, Reinagel, Sullivan). Four centuries of music history which will make the pupils enjoy classical music. Piano reduction with solo part-In 1947 Aaron Copland accepted a commission from Benny Goodman ‘The King Of Swing’ for a piece for solo Clarinet and Orchestra. Copland always wary of repeating himself welcomed the challenge of composing a Clarinet concerto – ‘it might stimulate some fresh ideas’. He knew from the start that a bow to jazz was called for and he hoped also to demonstrate the lyrical qualities of the Clarinet. Dedicated to Goodman the Concerto for Clarinet was finished by the end of 1948. Clarinettists were soon welcoming this new virtuoso piece and it has since become a standard in the Orchestral repertoire.The concerto consists of two movements played back-to-back connected by a Clarinet cadenza. The dreamy and melodic first movement is followed by a free rondo dominated by melodic Latin American jazz themes and is resolved in the end with an elaborate coda in C major that finishes off with a Clarinet glissando – or 'smear' in jazz lingo. Originally written for Clarinet and String Orchestra with Harp and Piano in this edition Concerto for Clarinet is arranged for Clarinet with Piano accompaniment by the composer. Along the published version with the changes requested by Benny Goodman ossias from the original 1948 manuscript are included as well. Comes with a separate insert of the Clarinet score.

This work which was written shortly after the Trumpet Sonata and the Five Pieces For Piano was first performed by Georgina Dobree and the composer at the 1957 Darmstadt Festival. The score was subsequently lost but wasrediscovered by Kevin Corner in 1983.'This is a dramatic emphatic and at times extravagant piece. The first movement is a Moderato reaching through wide-flung clarinet lines and keen piano gestures to a great climax near theend. Then comes a quick movement a kind of demonic scherzo including a cadenza for the clarinettist. The finale is an Adagio that gradually achieves a sort of simplicity though not before exceedingly testing times for bothplayers.Duration c. 25mins.

Elle est née en 1876, dans la région des Carpates, en Roumanie, un des pays de l'Europe orientale. Son papa, Sandor était violoniste. Très jeune, la petite a été initiée aux rythmes de son peuple, à l'exubérance des chants de fêtes, à la mélancolie des musiques des anciens. Les yeux de sa maman étaient sombres comme l'ébène. C'est pour cette raison que Zéliona, à 8 ans, a choisi de jouer de la clarinette, cet instrument dont le son l'a immédiatement charmée. Chaque jour elle en a découvert les possibilités et elle s'est perfectionnée sans jamais se lasser. Les enfants, les grandes personnes, l'écoutaient avec admiration... la musique qu'elle faisait naître de son instrument leur allait droit au coeur. Elle a inventé des mélodies pour parler de Tchavoro Le Mannelier, des couleurs du crépuscule, de La Mouche qui la poursuivait par temps de grande chaleur. Puis un jour, une troupe de cirque a croisé son chemin et elle s'est émerveillée des prouesses des jongleurs, du Funambule et du charmeur de serpent. This version of the famous piece Le Petit Nègre by Claude Debussy is a version transcribed for Bb Clarinet and Piano by Auguste PĂ©rier a professor at the Paris Conservatoire. First published in 1909 the piece in C major starts “Allegro giusto” and is an energetic cakewalk with an introduction followed by the main theme which is repeated before the piece comes to a close. This really charming work would suit an upper-intermediate level or above and is perfect to start working on Debussy’s music.
