Part of the collection 'Nine pieces' for Bassoon and Piano regrouped and transcribed by Fernand Oubradous  Pièce is a work initially composed by Gabriel Fauré. Quite difficult it would match the skills and abilities of advanced players. This sensitive piece for Bassoon in E flat is quite melodious: the main theme introduced by the Piano is repeated by the Bassoon who will lead the music from that moment. Written 'Adagio molto tranquillo' it is quite slow and nice to listen to. It would be perfect to execute in a recital. Gabriel Fauré was a French Composer Organist Pianist and teacher. He is one of the most important composers of his generation with pieces such as 'Pavane' or 'Requiem'.

Herbert Howells (1892-1983) was an English composer and teacher who is perhaps best known for his choral music in the Anglican tradition most famously his voluminous settings of the evening canticles.Minuet was composed in 1945 for solo Bassoon with Piano accompaniment. It was written for the birthday of Hugh Crosthwaite an English academic and amateur bassoonist who was studying at that time at Cambridge where Howells was working as an acting Organist for the duration of the war. It is subtitled Grace for a Fresh Egg; i.e. a thanksgiving for what was a rarity in wartime Britain.

Nyx was expertly composed by Evis Sammoutis for Bassoon and Piano. The piece was completed in 2013 and performed at the 62 Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD München.The Cypriote born composer has worked with some of the worlds leading composers including among many others Brian Ferneyhough Georges Aperghis George Benjamin as well as studying under Thomas Simaku for his Phd in Musical Composition.Sammoutis? works have been commissioned by festivals and organisations such as Venice Biennale Klangspuren Royaumont and ARD and performed at leading festivals and contemporary music seriesin more than 40 countries across the globe.Sammoutis has been awarded over 35 compositional awards including among many others the Royal Philharmonic Society Award and the Irino Prize.

Cette pièce pour basson et piano a été écrite pour le Festival Jeunes Vents Bassons de 2016 à Brest, sur commande de Philippe David, professeur au Conservatoire et organisateur de ce concours. Elle comporte cette touche brésilienne colorée qui caractérise les pièces d' Yves Pignot.
