As the surviving anonymous version merely places a solo part and a figured Bass on a two-stave system our edition is accompanied by performance material with one part each for transverse Flute/Oboe/Violin and Violoncello/Double Bass plus a figured Bass realisation.

Composed for the pedal Harp  Le Jardin Mouillé is a piece written by Jacques De La Presle dedicated to Marcel Grandjany. Introduced by a poem by Henri de Régnier which is about the falling rain and a wet garden this piece starts by some natural harmonies symbolising the sound of the rain and some glissandi. The first movement then starts followed by some variations along the piece. Really lyrical this work is a delight to play and to listen to but requires some advanced skills and a good technique to be interpreted perfectly. Jacques De La Presle (1888-1969) is a Frenchprofessor and composer. He won the Second Prix de Rome and composed notable pieces for Organ.

Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was a French composer conductor and organist. Despite being predominantly remembered as a conductor his Impromptu-Caprice remains a popular performance piece in the advanced harpists' repertoire. Pierné studied at the Paris Conservatoire before taking up the position of chief conductor for the concert series Concerts Colonne in 1910. He remained in the post until 1933 and during this time he notably conducted the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky's 'The Firebird'. Pierné composed for a variety of instruments Impromptu-Caprice being one of four solo worksby the composer. This Pierné piece for Harp contains many characteristics typical of the French style such as significant tempo changes flourishes of semiquavers and many alterations in dynamics. Impromptu-Caprice is a varied piece essential to the repertoire of aspiring harpists.
