pour Piano Cor Xylorimba Glockenspiel et Orchestre-Des Canyons Aux Étoiles – Part 2 is the second part of this twelve-movement orchestral work by Olivier Messiaen. It features the movements VI and VII. This score was commissioned by Alice Tully for the celebration of the bicentenary of the USA Declaration of Independence and the whole piece lasts between 90 and 100 minutes. Messiaen got inspiration from sounds and colours and his travel to America highlighted by the Bryce Canyon very colourful really influenced his composition. Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) was a French organist and composer who was passionate about Ornithology andone of the most important composers of his century. Inspired by Japanese music he had a very special way of composing and his work can be identified by its complexity its diatonic aspect its harmony with limited transposition its colour and its additive rhythms. He composed many works related to ornithology and birdsong including the Bird Catalogue in 7 volumes and the Treatise on rhythm colour and ornithology in 7 volumes.

Cello or Bassson Part for George Frideric Handel's Concerto Grosso In G Op.6 No.1. The Concerti Grossi Op.6 HWV 319-330 are 12 concerti for solo instruments (usually Violins and Cello) accompanied by a four-part string orchestra and Cembalo continuo. Originally published in 1739 they were written to be played during performances of Handel's oratorios and odes and are amongst the finest examples in the genre of Baroque Concerto Grosso.

Like ‘The Consul’ (1950) 'The Saint of Bleecker Street' is a full-length serious work which features several characteristics of traditional opera. It is in three acts has a large cast including a chorus and a large orchestra.The subject matter is very serious and touches on religious experiences violence and murder. Suggestions of incest also appear in the story and there is no happy ending. The Saint of Bleecker Street is set incontemporary New York City in the Italian community in and around Bleecker Street. Menotti's libretto concerns the young Annina who every Good Friday develops stigmata on her hands. Her possessive brother Michele fights tokeep the miracle-hungry neighbors away from her and to prevent her from becoming a nun. When Michele's mistress Desideria accuses him of being in love with his sister he stabs her in the back. Very ill Annina take the nun'sveil in a ceremony at her home and dies in the process.
