The 6?30?? long piece is constructed of two types of material: the combination of a fanfare like trumpet call with a meandering line, and more undulating material. Her works have been performed across a wide range of venues throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Her piece Kaamos, which she wrote for the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, was recently nominated for a Ivors Composer Award in the Large Scale Composition category. Kaamos also was selected by YLE Radio Finland to represent Finland at the International Rostrum of Composers 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia. Poe was the 2019 Tanglewood Music Patricia Plum Wilde Fellow and represented Finland at Ung Nordisk Musik 2019 in Piteå. for Soprano Cornet or Piccolo Trumpet and Piano-Hymn of the Highlands (?Hymne des Highlands?) est une œuvre de commande pour le Yorkshire Building Society Band et son directeur David King. Cette suite en sept mouvements a été donnée en création mondiale par la formation dédicataire à l?occasion du Concert de Gala des Championnats d?Europe des Brass Bands 2002 à Bruxelles.David King est un directeur musical très imaginatif. Sous son impulsion trois œuvres à programme pour Brass Bands ont déjà été écrites : Cry of the Celts Voice of the Vikings et Windows of the World. L?idée était de composer une pièce élargie et thématique qui peut constituer à elle seule une partie de concertpermettant de présenter les solistes d?une formation. Le mouvement intitulé Flowerdale a été composé pour celui qui est décrit comme « le plus grand cornettiste soprano de tous les temps » le légendaire Peter Roberts.Ce mouvement est également disponible dans une version soliste et Brass Band (Réf. : AMP 049).
