Robert Sieving\'s arrangement of Allegro for Double String Orchestra by Antonio Vivaldi, RV593, originally a motet featuring the vocal setting of Psalm 69 for soprano, 2 oboes, 2 SATB choirs, and double string orchestra, provides the opportunity for two orchestras to perform in opposition and have a musical conversation through fugal writing. Sieving has maintained Vivaldi\'s writing and sound, as the two orchestras battle it out to be the reigning orchestra. Each orchestra and section have interesting parts, with string crossings, minimal shifting, stylistic Baroque bow use, and call and response sections or echo sections. Invite a neighboring orchestra to perform this wonderful double string piece or divide your orchestra in two groups. Much of his life was spent in Bayreuth working for the court of Wilhelmine of Prussia Margravine of Bayreuth teaching her composition and violin. During his lifetime he composed a variety of orchestra and chamber music including this Concerto in B-flat Major in three movements: Allegro ma non troppo Andante and Allegretto. This edition includes the full orchestral score orchestral parts as well as guitar and lute parts. Victor Van Puijenbroeck has adapted the original solo part and included in the set areparts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto). Lament by Mack Wilberg for String Orchestra with optional Organ.This moving piece for String Orchestra is full of pathos and emotion. Stylistically evocative of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings and the distinctive musical language of Arvo Pärt Lament is based around a two-bar arching ostinato artfully developing musical fragments and enriching the texture to reach a powerful central climax. ACT has been described as both a musical onslaught and also a playful tour de force an impressive and skilful work for full Orchestra. When Wallin’s Clarinet Concerto was performed by the ClevelandOrchestra in 2002 the composer was so buoyed by the warm reaction of audience and musicians that he was inspired to create this work for Orchestra to summon all its forces as one entity in forward motion together. Of the genesisof this piece Wallin wrote that ‘The foundation of mankind’s success is our ability to cooperate. For me one of the most amazing examples of human collaboration is the symphony Orchestra'. RolfWallin is a renowned Nordic composer whose work encompasses elements of classical training jazz early music and avant garde rock while incorporating a wide range of techniques and expressions.

Volume 1-Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) is known for his unique composition style. Incorporating complex rhythms harmony melodies and his passion for ornithology his Éclairs Sur L'Au-Delà for Orchestra is no exception to the composer's popular distinctive style. Composed between 1987-1991  Éclairs Sur L'Au-Delà was one of the composer's last works with the premiere occuring six months after his death. The work includes Messiaen's popular compositional techniques such as his modes of limited transposition and the use of birdsong.Messiaen's piece for orchestra is divided in to eleven movements and a typical performance lasts about one hour. Éclairs Sur L'Au-Delà is essential to all advanced orchestras seeking to expand and vary their repertoire.

Originally a popular Baroque musical form, the chaconne is characterized by a set of ground-bass variations. In Kocsár's piece the 23-bar theme is followed by nine variations of diverse characters. The composition lasts about nine minutes and is rounded off with a recapitulation of the theme and a coda. The Chaconne can be performed by junior string orchestras consisting of either two violins and a cello or a violin, a viola, and a cello (with or without double bass), or by string trios consisting of two violins and violoncello or a violin, a viola and a cello. The edition includes a full score and one part for each instrument. Score-'A Colorful Symphony' is based on a chapter from Norton Juster's popular book for children 'The Phantom Tollbooth' in which a little boy enters a magic land where an orchestra and its conductor play the colours into the worldeach day. Rodriguez's setting for Narrator and Orchestra has become a musical classic in its own right and is regularly performed by major Orchestras.

John Corigliano (b. 1938) is an American composer. One of his most enjoyable compositions is The Mannheim Rocket commissioned by the Mannheim orchestra in the year 2000. It takes inspiration from theRocket of the title – a famous compositional device invented by the orchestra in the 1700s. From there it swiftly traverses 200 years of German music cleverly hiding quotes from some of the most famous orchestralworks of the era rising to its zenith before falling back to earth – exactly as a real rocket would. Described by the composer as a “marvellous journey” this orchestral piece is one of the mostentertaining in the repertoire – both to play and to listen to.
