Adagio for flute (or violin) and piano. Péter Wolf's collection Wolf-temperiertes Klavier, published in 2018, referring to the series The Well-Tempered Clavier by Bach, contains 24 piano pieces, a major and a minor key composition based on each pitch of the chromatic scale. The ninth piece, an Adagio in E major, is one of the gems in the volume, building on the tradition of the Baroque pastorale. This soaring melody has been arranged by the composer to a duet: above the piano accompaniment, it can be performed by a violin or a flute (either by an oboe or other melodic instrument).

Pièceby Gabriel Fauré is a piece for Flute Oboe or Violin with Piano accompaniment. This romantic piece in A only features one movement. Small it is really melodious and quite slow: “Adagio molto tranquillo”. Rated as quite difficult upper-intermediate players will enjoy playing it for recitals. The book includes an insert with the instrument only part. Gabriel Fauré was a French composer organist pianist and teacher. He is one of the most important composers of his generation with pieces such as 'Pavane' or 'Requiem'.

Flute and Piano-A respected pianist violinist and composer the career of Sweden's Amanda Maier (1853-1894) was tragically cut short from tuberculosis. Her musical activities brought her into contact with the likes of Brahms Grieg and Reinecke and her own style exudes the Romantic spirit of her time. Her Sonata for Violin and Piano in b minor (1878) is a brilliant and substantial work which is finally gaining the recognition it deserves. This new edition makes the work available to flutists for the first time with very few alterations to the original violin part. We hope that this edition will make this unjustly neglected sonata accessible to students performers and music lovers.

PAUL WETZGER (1870-1937) was a German flutist composer born in Dahme near Lübeck. At a young age he took violin lessons from the local music director later switching to flute. By 15 years of age Wetzger had played his first concert in the main church of Dahmen and was second flutist of the municipal orchestra. He later became solo flutist with the municipal orchestra of Essen and taught at the Essen conservatory. He wrote numerous pieces for flute and several chamber music works also editing works by the French composer/flutist Jules Demersseman. Wetzger's Am Waldesbach (By the Forest Brook) ideally for flute and orchestra or piano was a staple of celebrated flutistMarcel Moyse recorded by him in 1935 on the French Columbia label. Since then it has become a favorite in the flute teaching repertory perhaps most notably included Toshio Takahashi's famous Suzuki Flute Method. This Southern Music edition faithfully captures this classic piece as performed by living legend of the flute Sir James Galway.

The Flute Collection. Par SCHUMANN ROBERT. Remarks in his household books indicate that Robert Schumann (1810–1856) composed the Märchenbilder (Fairy-Tale Pictures) for piano and viola (or violin) op. 113 in just four days between 1st and 4th March, 1851, in Düsseldorf. Schumann only gradually came to the title Märchenbilder. The four pieces are unified by their shared opus number and keys (D minor, F major, D minor, D major), but the first edition published them in two volumes (Vol. 1: Nos. 1 and 2; Vol. 2: Nos. 3 and 4). Clearly, the Märchenbilder op. 113 do not need to be performed as a group but can be played in pairs or individually. The present arrangement is based upon the viola part. The viola's ambitus, when transposed up an octave, matches that of the flute. Solutions from the violin part have also been used on occasion. The double stops in the second piece were, for example, already simplified in the violin version. At such points the violin part provides a model for further simplifications in the flute part. Massenet first studied music with his mother before entering the Paris Conservatoire. He is best known for his operas, of which he composed over thirty. Thaï s was first performed at the Opera Garnier in Paris in 1894 and continues to be one of the composer's most performed operas. The famous Meditation, isan intermezzo, originally for Violin and Orchestra, which has since been arranged for many different instruments, making it a frequent concert piece. The arrangement for Flute and Piano remains in the original key of D major and displays the passionate religious intentions. Taffanel 's adaptions include breath marks, phrasing, changing octaves for some notes and articulation, among other aspects. Jindrich Feld's Sonata for Flute and Piano is frequently performed by virtuoso flautists. Composed in 1957 the Sonata is elaborate and quirky and has been recorded by leading artists including Jeffrey Khaner and James Galway. Born in Prague Feld (1925-2007) studied Violin and Viola with his parents before studying at the Conservatory and Academy of Music of his native city. His compositions predominantly instrumental soon became popular being performed all over the world. As reflected in his Sonata for Flute and Piano Feld's style is deeply rooted in the Czech musicaltradition but he also integrated the main styles of 20th century Western music. The Sonata is made up of three movements 1. Giocoso (playful) 2. Grave (serious) and 3. Vivace (lively). Each movement of the Sonata presents different challenges from fast semiquaver flourishes to the lyrical top register of the Flute. This Feld piece is highly virtuosic yet an excellent and enjoyable performance for all advanced flautists.

The Romance for a melodic instrument and Piano was a very popular genre in French salon music of the nineteenth century. Saint-Saëns also wrote several such pieces for Violin Cello and Horn. His only Romance for Flute was composed in 1871 shortly after the Société nationale de musique had been founded. It was premiered in this new forum for Piano music and chamber works a year later too. In spite of its brevity the piece contains numerous harmonic and melodic refinements which rapidly made it popular among flautists both in the original setting with Piano accompaniment as well as in the later orchestral version. The Henle Urtext edition is the firstcritical edition of this piece which is also very popular with learners of the Flute.

Play-Alongs Bekannter Stücke Aus Irland Schottland Wales Dem Cornwall und Der Bretagne-Martin Tourish is an accordionist composer and musicologist from Co. Donegal now based in Dublin. Celtic music is in his blood for his ancestors were noted collectors of dance music manuscripts dating back to the 19th century. With many recordings to his credit he now offers his expertise to performers wishing to explore the rich culture of Irish and other Celtic music on a variety of instruments. ?World Music Celtic? presents material from the Irish Scottish Welsh Cornish and Breton traditions. It makes no great technical demands on the players but Tourish points out that notation of this music is often ?skeletal? hence it is important to gain a knowledge of theindividual traditions in question and naturally he offers plenty of information on performance practice. The collection spans three centuries from the blind bardic harpists of the 18th century to the international performers of the present day. Tourish accepts that this volume can only scratch the surface of a multi-faceted genre but hopes you will see it as a stepping stone to delve deeper into recordings festivals and the very communities whence this music comes. ?World Music Celtic? is available in four formats each with complete recordings and backing tracks on CD: as solo versions for violin flute or saxophone (with piano) and in an ensemble version for two melodic instruments (C Bb or Eb) piano guitar bass and bodhrán.

Cyril Scott was an English composer writer and poet. He was essentially a late romantic composer whose style was at the same time strongly influenced by impressionism. His harmony was notably exotic. Scott wrote around four hundred works which include two mature symphonies three operas three Piano concertos concertos for Violin Cello Oboe and Harpsichord several overtures four oratorios as well as a mass of chamber music.While less appreciated during his lifetime it is Scott’s late works(written between 1950 and his death) that are the most individual with their ever-shifting harmoniccolours and wayward inflections of phrase and mood capturing perfectly the way the mind shifts backwards and forwards between reminiscence regrets and self-assertion.Composed in 1961 for Flute and Piano and premiered by William Bennett and Margaret Norman on November 9 of that year Sonata For Flute is perfect  example of the genius of Scott’s late works.
