This wonderful book contains a variety of songs and dances originally written in the the twelfth through to the sixteenth centuries which have been arranged for the harp. The majority of the pieces have been drawn from the medieval period and often existed in their original form as melody line only. All of the pieces in this book are playable on the folk harp. Two solos in jazz idiom for pedal or non-pedal harp-Two solos in the jazz idiom for Pedal or Non-Pedal Harp by Stewart Green. Stewart Green began writing music for the Piano at an early age. Taking up the Viola and Oboe in his teens he later went to the University College of North Wales (Bangor) where he studied composition with among others William Matthias and Reginald Smith Brindle. Gaining a B. Mus. (hons) degree in 1960 he returned to his old school in Richester to teach class and instrumental music. Four years later he enlisted as oboist to the Band of HM Coldstream Guards which opened many doors including performances of his compositions and arrangements in many National venues on discand broadcast by the BBC on Radios 2 & 3. His years at Bangor had enabled him to fulfil a childhood dream of learning the Harp which he was later able to develop when he left the army and moved with his wife Sue and young family to Lowestoft as a peripatetic woodwind tutor for Suffolk County Music Service. His Flights Of Fancy and Blistering Along! appear on ABRSM and Trinity College Harp examination syllabuses while the Spartan Press publication Saxofun is on Suffolk's own exam syllabus. Since 1999 Stewart has been senior Woodwind Tutor for Suffolk and since 2002 Harp tutor as well! Stewart's recent publication She'll Be Comin' Round The Mountain was written for the North Suffolk String Orchestra as was Haunted House. Spookily this received its first performance at Lowestoft accompanied by a July Thunderstorm!

Célèbres Études pour la harpe-Composed by?Nicolas-Charles Bochsa Twenty-five studies Op. 62?is a set of part of the 'Favourite studies' from the same author for intermediate and advanced Harp players. Reviewed by Alphonse Hasselmans each studies has a different difficulty level and can be played separately. This set of studies will help the Harpist to gain in flexibility and speed and would ideally be played on pedal Harps. In the same series Bochsa also composed a set of 'Forty easy studies Op. 318' a set of 'Twenty studies' in two books and one called 'Fifty studies Op.34'. All these sets havebeen reviewed by Alphonse Hasselmans professor at the Paris Conservatoire who also indicated the best finger positions to use.

A fantastic collection of 11 pieces written especially for the Irish- or Concertharp by Dutch harpist Rosetty. Various different styles and genres are featured here from Samba to Folk and Reggae to Romantic pieces. The harp part in each case has been kept relatively simple to enable the student to focus on the rhythms and syncopation of each style. An accompanying CD contains both demonstration tracks with the full harp solo to hear how each piece should sound and a version with accompaniment only for performance and practice.

Sophia Giustani Dussek's opus 2 consists of two books of three sonatas each for the harp. The Sonata in c-minor appears in the first book published by Pleyel in Paris in 1796. In this edition the composer's first name was not mentioned so the sonatas were falsely ascribed to Johann Ludwig Dussek who was quite well known in Paris at this time (cf. RISM D 4605). In the Thematic index of the works of J.L. Dussek by Howard Craw opus 2 is given as a set of 4 violin sonatas. An edition of the harp sonatas published by Corri Dussek & Co. in London and Edinburgh is ascribed to Sophia Dussek (cf. RISM D 4649).The new edition of the sonata published by Schott has been correctedaccording to this failure.The edition is part of the ABRSM syllabus and Trinity syllabus 2007 (grade 7)

Spring Fancies was written in 1915. It is a collection of two Preludes scored for solo Harp.Sir Hamilton Harty (1879-1941) was an Irish-born composer conductor and pianist who spent most of his life working in Britain. He is best remembered for reviving the fortunes of the Halle Orchestra in Manchester during the 1920s. However he also wrote many works of music including a symphony several arrangements of Handel dozens of songs and chamber works. Most of these have been overlooked since his early death at the age of 61.

Simon Holt's the man in the wind and the west moon was composed for Solo Harp in 2013 having been commissioned by The Tanza Trust. The piece takes its title from a line in a DylanThomas poem named 'And death shall have no dominion'. The four sections of the work see shifting harmonies throughout with the first section repeating but also changing ever so subtly. The unique thing about the piece is thateach section is dynamically different but is left open to interpretation by the player.  The man in the wind and the west moon was first performed on the2nd of June 2014 at Milton Court Concert Hall in London by Alex Rider. The piece lasts around 7 minutes and the bottom C and D strings should be tuned to C# and D# respectively.

The ten studies in this collection have been carefully devised by Freddy Alberti to ensure that the player progresses whilst playing them. The studies incorporate increasingly challenging techniques that will allow the student to develop their skills in order to play more complex pieces on the small Harp.
